  1. Surprised they didn't mention that Sheff W player of the millennium thing.
  2. Couldn't really blame him if he leaves for a bigger club though I'd be pretty gutted if he went to another L1 side or wasn't playing every week. But, hopefully he'll be tempted by the 4th round to stay till the end of the season. If he leaves now, or in May, he'll go with my blessing. Just a shame we can't keep hold of him - he's the kind of player to build a team around. I've no idea how these things work, but would he be able to sign an extension with us until immediately after the Liverpool game (or play on non-contract terms), and then move to another club before the window shuts?
  3. What about offering Liverpool the chance to host it at Anfield (is that even allowed)?
  4. It'll be a great day at BP and nice to see it full again. Not quite the money spinner I was hoping for though we could always get a draw. That's all assuming Liverpool win of course!
  5. Its do-able: we get Luton in the 4th and Macclesfield in the 5th (who pull off a shock 4th round win at City). United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are all dumped out by that stage and we beat Mansfield in the final.
  6. I don't mind that we don't get much TV time but it'd be nice to see better highlights online. It surely can't cost them much and they could make us sit through a couple of minutes of adverts first if they need to raise more revenue.
  7. Its no coincidence that he's been at his worst when played out of position in centre midfield - he can't tackle and he's not a great passer of the ball. BUT - play him as a forward and he's can be dangerous. He showed what he can do and hopefully it'll give him the confidence he needs to kick on from here. Also, does anyone remember his decent FK's last season? Not direct shots on goal but playing the ball into the box. I'm not saying we stop Baxter from taking them but I'd let Robbie have a go at a couple.
  8. Yea it was soft and Blackstock was looking for it. It was still stilly though - he didn't have to touch him.
  9. He had a decent game but gave away a stupid, stupid free kick for their first goal. Thought Byrne was much better - apart from getting done for pace once, he kept Blackstock quiet.
  10. I honestly think that our poor start and Forest's early goal helped us. Let's be honest, they didn't turn up - and that's because for 45 minutes, they didn't have to.
  11. Yea he deserves a lot of credit - I heard a bit of stick directed his way during the first half but he was a right nuisance in the 2nd. Thought he should have had a couple of free kicks too but the ref seemed reluctant to give him anything.
  12. If they get through I'd like Arsenal - 60,000 at £50+ a ticket might be more of a pay day than Old Trafford. How about Macclesfield at home? This cup's there for the winning!
  13. Just got back and calmed down a bit! Reminds me of Sheff U last season, great feeling. Credit to Furman and Simpson - both come under criticism recently but they showed what they can do. Is Simpson the 3rd round specialist?! I think, as a club, we needed that and it couldn't have come at a better time.
  14. Just on way home posting from my phone. Incredible turnaround. We were poor in the first half, same as our home performances - Simpson in particular looked lost in the centre. Forest scoring early helped as they never stepped up their game. When we hit them in that crazy 7 minute spell they didn't have an answer. Simpson played as a forward second half and looked a different player. 3 great goals too. Excellent atmosphere today, even during the poor first half.
  15. If we appeal and it gets overturned then we're probably not able to fine Wes. If we don't appeal, the red still stands and we can fine him a week's wage (or whatever the going rate is) - every little helps! (I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the above thought process took place).
  16. Excellent result. I'd probably have taken a draw today, just because we never seem to get anything down there. Onwards and upwards.
  17. Haha, well done. I couldn't think of any Springsteen related songs. Maybe My City of Ruins for the current state of BP? Or I'm Goin' Down. Or Glory Days. Come to think of it, there are plenty!
  18. Dunno what all the fuss is about, he clearly loves it here. Just look at his little face on the picture in the article below: http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/article/20121204-christmas-party-525627.aspx
  19. Disappointed - it felt like we were gonna get United the more the draw went on! Could be a lot worse though - should be a decent enough crowd (imagine we'll take a couple of thousand) and we have a chance (albeit a slim one) of getting a result. Shame about Derbyshire though. He won't be able to play for them at least as he's cup tied!
  20. Highlights up on ITV: http://www.itv.com/sport/football/article/2012-12-01/fa-cup-report-oldham-athletic-3-1-doncaster-rovers/ Only the goals.
  21. Because its easy to get to and OT would earn us the most money.
