  1. As someone who was there let me say this - Furman was by no means the only culprit and it'd be unfair to blame him any more than the other players for the performance. I thought the team as a whole (and PD too) couldn't cope with Carlisle's tactics to stop us playing football.
  2. We didn't score until Simpson had gone off on Saturday.
  3. Furman's not rubbish but he was poor tonight and I do think (at least partly) contributed to us sitting so deep and resorting to long ball.
  4. I posted in the other thread re the ref - he was well dodgy though we can't really blame him for the goals. He let them get away with a lot of niggly fouls which helped them stop us playing though.
  5. I was there (left with 10 mins to go so didn't see our goal). Its the last time I'm going to bloody Carlisle! It was a poor performance all round. Carlisle had a game plan to stop us playing football and it worked. They were sharper than us and gave us no time on the ball whatsoever, pressured us into making mistakes and ultimately made us play long ball. It also included consistent and multiple fouls everytime we did try and play but the ref was happy to let it go. Typically he books 4 of our players yet his cards stay in his pocket for them. Their number 6 consistently jumped at Matt Smith in the second half with his arms up and got away with it every time, despite the ref booking M'Voto for less in the first half. Can't blame the ref for any of the goals though. The first was a shocking mistake by Byrne fannying around with it in the box when he should have booted it clear and our heads dropped after that though to be honest, we'd been second best all night (without Carlisle offering much in the final third). The other two goals were also gifted by poor defending. We really didn't have a plan B and didn't look to have much in the way of fight tonight. Too many players didn't turn up - Montano had another quiet game (though why on earth don't we give him the bloody ball?!) and Furman was poor. The game seemed to pass him by and he sat so deep that in the second half (after Derbyshire had gone off), Baxter and Smith had no support from midfield. Baxter, Wes and Croft probably the only to come out of the game with any credit, mainly due to their continued effort. Even Wabara looked dodgy tonight. I hope the second half wasn't an indication of life without Derbyshire as the future's grim if it was. Hopefully just an off day, coupled with a negative (but clever) Carlisle display.
  6. Not sure I can see what Slade was moaning about. It may have been handball but it doesn't look very clear - certainly not clear enough to warrant his rant.
  7. Jesus Christ man, why would you do such a thing?! I nearly had a hernia myself reading that!
  8. I know a lass who hates the word "moist". Thinks its filthy.
  9. M6 northbound is usually ok. It can get a bit busy at junction 31a but usually keeps moving. I'm heading up straight after work in the car. Shame the last train back to Preston is at 2130h - was hoping there'd be one an hour later.
  10. Even then I'd struggle to justify going. Weirdly I'd be more interested if they were in a different league but its not very exciting when its not Latics.
  11. 4 points from the next 2 games would be great. 2 wouldn't be a disaster if we can follow it up with a big performance against Bury and the Trannies.
  12. That's brilliant - "Have chavs given the memory of Diana swine flue?" Reminds me of the euphemism generator: http://walkingdead.net/perl/euphemism
  13. But it'd earn the most money. And think of how much sweeter a cupset would be... Arsenal away would be a very nice alternative I'll admit.
  14. That video is quality - he's got a good sense of humour. Must be great having him around the team.
  15. It was just a figure bandied around on here when he first signed.
  16. I sit in the main stand lower, a few rows back from the away bench. There are always a few seats around so I wouldn't have thought you'd have any problems finding a spot near the half way line. There's usually some banter with the away bench too which is good for a laugh if the game's not up to much.
  17. I live near Chorley and have watched them in the past so this might give me a little incentive to get back to Victory Park when Latics are away. I'd consider this a bit of a coup for Chorley although last time I saw them Matt Jansen was playing (he might still be) so they can pull in the big names! I'm surprised they've dropped that low but imagine Gary Flitcroft is mates with PD and has twisted his arm. It perhaps speaks volumes about their prospects here that young Sutherland is being named on the bench ahead of them.
  18. Ultimately Forrest will want Derbyshire playing regularly and scoring goals to increase his value come January. Although as mentioned above there are no doubt other clubs who can pay a much bigger share than us, no club's going to pick up his full £16k wage so hopefully the fact that he's established himself here stands in our favour. Unlike Simmo, I can't see any chance of him signing for us permanently and think we'd do well to keep him for the 90 day loan period. If we were somehow able to get him on loan for the full season, that would be great but its not likely.
  19. It was one of the least sporting performances I've seen in terms of time wasting, the whole team as well as the ball boys. They were very clever about it - 2 examples which spring to mind: Kitson booting the ball into the crowd after it had already gone out for a throw; Blackman holding on to the ball and managing to get M'Voto booked for trying to retrieve it. The ref bottled it on both occasions - Kitson should have been booked and big Jean shouldn't. And when did Blackman turn into a mouthy, cocky little :censored:? He seemed like a nice lad when he was here but spent half of the game yesterday strutting around or moaning at the ref. It was great to get the goal so late just to stick it to 'em.
  20. We'd have won the game easily if he hadn't gone up for the corner! Quarmby out!
  21. Wes for me although as vs PNE, they were all fantastic.
  22. Montano for me though it could really have been any of them.
  23. I remember there being an OK (not amazing, but fairly tasty) chippy near Hillsborough.
  24. I live, work and was born in Preston. Its a dump, desperately clinging to its success of 10 years ago (when it got city status) with more than its fair share of chavs, scumbags and neanderthals (as their fan put it); any PNE fan criticising OIdham is a deluded hypocrite. Deepdale (the stadium, not the area) is very nice, I'll admit.
