  1. Mellor and Winchester have shown enough potential to have justified more first team game time, Tarky even more so. Also, whatever happened to Bembo-Lita and what went wrong with Allessandra? Is DBL even still a Latics player? Allessandra looked at one point like he was going to very do well here. One thing's for certain, I can't see another Taylor or Eardley coming through the ranks any time soon.
  2. Derbyshire I think may be the better footballer but (based on his one performance I've seen) Barnard looks like he might be more effective for us. 2 in 2 is great, keep it up Lee!
  3. Yea, and aren't they the fans we're trying to convince to come back? How do we convince them to come back if we make it more difficult to come to the more attractive games? I know a few people have posted on here that they've started attending again because of seeing us vs Liverpool. Even the cynic in me would prefer an excellent marketing opportunity to stayaways than filling nearly 50% of the ground with away fans. If it convinces even just a small % of those stayaways to attend more regularly then its been worthwhile. Would you begrudge us higher attendances if we were chasing the promotion on the basis that those extra fans aren't watching us now?
  4. A draw would be a great result!! The biggest questions over team selection for me are whether Furman comes back in and whether we stick with Tarky.
  5. Yes, and the one time he got worked up was shouting at the players to "get on with it" following an (admittedly poor) decision against us by the linesman. If he was offered the job permanently, I'd be pleased. But I'd rather have him associated with the club for as long as possible. The manager's position is a poisoned chalice compared to the relatively risk-free youth team job. I'd hate for him to take the job and then get sacked/walk out because it didn't work out.
  6. I might stick a bet on that, he'll be the bookies' favourite in no time!
  7. I don't like the chav brigade but I thought there was a decent atmosphere in the RRE today. Its not them we should be criticising anyway, its the people who turned up against Liverpool but didn't turn up today!
  8. Agreed, whilst it'd obviously be nice to win, the Everton game is a bonus as far as I'm concerned. We had our day against Liverpool and the league has to take priority.
  9. I didn't realise it was Alan Smith until he came off. He's let himself go - looks like a bloody tramp!
  10. Its not that long a walk, less than half an hour I'd say. I'll certainly be going!
  11. I thought this thread was going to tell me to stop swearing!
  12. That's not not! Not is Notts County who are not interested in Dowie?! Or not.
  13. This is the right decision. The main argument for getting rid actually had me partly convinced for a while: Jose Baxter vs Kirk Millar et al. But longer term its absolutely right that we stick with the youth set up. Lets hope for more Eardleys and Taylors. Presumably the EPPP vote was a major factor behind the discussion. I wish lower league clubs had more collective bollocks to stand up to the Premier League (perhaps with some FA support). Fishul story here - http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/article/20130205-youthsaved-639631.aspx
  14. I think the team have let him down collectively, this season at least. I can't think of many occasions when I've been able to single out a player as having had a shocker. I can, however, think of loads of occasions when the team collectively hasn't shown enough desire or urgency.
  15. By a cruel twist of fate my existing one's screen broke when I dropped it a couple of days ago. Wasn't sure whether to replace or not it but a tenner off and a % to playershare tipped the scales! Ordered now.
  16. To be fair, he did give a lot of fans their best day in football in the last 20 years.
  17. I'm quitting football if we appoint Westley! Worryingly, if we did appoint him I think he could possibly do a good job.
  18. Scholes and Baxter would tear up L1! In related news, some PNE fans I know reckon Westley is on his way out. Apparently PNE are on their worst ever home run. If we appoint him, I'm never watching football again.
  19. His stats are impressive but after Penney, I'm irrationally against anyone who's surname has anything to do with money.
  20. Great though he'd be, we have no chance of getting Adkins. He'll have a load of offers from better clubs soon. (I seem to remember thinking something similar about Baxter though!)
  21. Now's the time to push the name-change-for-donation service, everyone with reference to PD in their username step forward!
  22. That's a fair point and it raises an interesting question - does PD go for someone just for the rest of the season, or someone he thinks will do the job longer term? What would we consider a success for the rest of this season? I'd like to think the players we have are good enough to get us higher up the league but surviving by the skin of our teeth is looking more and more appealing.
