  1. I cling to the hope that FFP will force Citeh to look for some money to help balance the books..... ie If you don't leave Micah, you're training with the EDS squad on the new campus for a year.... So accept this £4m offer we've got from X or else we'll make your life unenjoyable!
  2. O-oh...... I don't like the sound of this quote taken from the M.E.N...... "Closer to home, Micah Richards continues to consider his options. The 25-year-old defender will not extend his stay with City beyond next summer when his contract expires. However, he is no nearer to making a decision on whether to see out his final contract or move to another club."
  3. ...it was his first season as a regular starter..... give him chance....
  4. I can recall Ipswich fans - can't have been more than 200 of them - being moved from the open (pre redeveloped - now verlin) RRE to the Lookers seated upper at HT of a midweek league game, because Ice Station Zebra weather conditions were setting in and there was concern frost bite & pneumonia might set in otherwise. If memory serves me correctly, this could also have been the same game Roger Palmer broke Eric Gemmill's goal scoring record.
  5. He's far from the worst we've had..... Shaun Clognett Brian Kilclog Peter Clogger
  6. I'll donate [more than I already do] to Playershare if he does.....!
  7. They've paid a fee for a 35 year old. I don't care how many goals he scored last year [it was 20 by the way] you take an enormous risk blowing some of your playing budget on a player that in all likelihood will not score that many goals in a season again.
  8. At one time, all we did was take unwanted players from Everton, Leeds and Citeh..... most of which were a success: Tommy Wright - Leeds Denis Irwin - Leeds Andy Linighan - Leeds Andy Ritchie - Leeds Roger Palmer - Citeh Earl Barrett - Citeh Paul Warhurst - Citeh Neil Pointon - Citeh Steve Redmond - Citeh Rick Holden [2nd time around] - Citeh Neil Adams - Everton Ian Marshall - Everton Graeme Sharp - Everton Neil MacDonald - Everton However, the world has changed greatly since those days. Where once we could compete to offer wages that were comparable/better than our more illustrious neighbours reserve teams, now we pay less than Premier League Elite Development Squads [EDS] - in effect their 3rd of 4th teams - and at best can only 'borrow' them. Its a sad indictment on the avaricious football industry/Premier League today. In recent times, very few arrangement I can think of have come off: Andreas Mancini - Citeh Luca Scapuzzi - Citeh Reece Wabara - Citeh Albert Rusnak - Citeh Ellis Plummer - Citeh I hope Sir Joe can find one or two gems for us to borrow from Everton's EDS in the coming seasons.
  9. Published yesterday seemingly. In 1st place, Man Citeh 3 QPR 2 on 13th May 2012. 2nd place, Arsenal 3 Stretford Rovers 2 on 9th Nov 1997. I cannot recall this game. 3rd place, Liverpool 4 Newcastle 3 on 3rd April 1996. However, in respectable positions; 16th. Aston Villa 0 Latics 1 on 2nd May 1993. 28th. Latics 4 Southampton 3 on 8th May 1993. Remarkable to think that those two games were only 6 days apart and we had Liverpool at home [3-2 win] sandwiched inbetween. Can you imagine the moaning today from some of the big guns about their schedule. http://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/top-100-premier-league-matches-thrill-providers-city-dividers-and-title-deciders?page=0%2C0
  10. While the percentages would suggest you are probably right..... I think he should be encouraged and defeatism should be confined to silence. Good luck to the boy.....!

  12. ....or as Roy would pronounce it, "Trevor Kekkle".
  13. We've conceded 57 goals in 42 games this season (last year 59 in 46). We're placed in midtable in that league. However, we've only scored 47 (last year 46 in 46), with only 6 teams worse than us. I think it clear to see that we must try to find more goals. Rooney didn't work, JCH is still a kid, Millar isn't up to it, MacDonald past it, Turner untested. I'd say we've got to try to find another striker. Neither Wes nor Smith are prolific enough from midfield. Ideally we wouldn't lose either, but might it be a blessing if we did? Ditto Grounds for his poor distribution, while acknowledging his defensive play is good. We're gonna have to lose some players that we'll be sad to see go, because sadly those players have seen us battling relegation again.
  14. I note I'm the only one to say let grounds go, so I'd best explain; His distribution is generally terrible. Gives the ball away far too often. If he sorted this out, he could probably play in the championship, because his defensive play is good. I actually preferred him at Centre Back earlier in the season because he could give the ball to a deep midfielder instead of aimlessly playing the ball down the left flank. I recall LJ complaining about his body language once or twice at the back end of last season. I still think he looks a bit disengaged at times now. I imagine he will be on decent money and to encourage him to renew his contract won't be cheap. Money I might want to spend on finding JCH a partner up top - assuming Turner isn't ready yet!?! You only have to look at the table to see its a lack of goals that has been our problem this season. However, the tipping point is a conversation I had with TP twelve months ago who told me Jack Truelove is one to watch. Ergo, assuming Truelove is over his injury..... Let Grounds leave and spend the limited budget elsewhere.
  15. I am merely remarking at how similar I recall the platitudes being..... and wondering if ultimately the same result will ensue....?
  16. James Wesolowski, April 2014: "I've been here three years now and I can see something good is happening. It's been slightly disappointing this season but there have been a lot of positive signs as well." "We've started to get back to the stuff we were doing at the start of the season and we're playing our game again. It's promising and I'd love to stay here but it's just a case of getting everything sorted." Jean Yves M'Voto, April 2013: “The manager and chairman have not talked about it yet,” said Mvoto (24). “This week or maybe after the season, it will be a bit easier. I am happy here. I live in Manchester and know everything here, so why not? Let’s sit and talk.”
  17. ...no idea, but Ron Millward has been a successful scout for us.....! ;)
  18. Barring the death of my grandmother - which happened to be the same day we beat Arsenal 3-1 in the League Cup in 1989 - the worst day of my life. I hate Man United.
