This is mainly because when he first burst on to the scene he mainly faced the full back one on one, his ability to beat them highlighted his attacking threat, helping him make it into the league one team of the year too.
So opposition managers take the easy/simple option of double marking him to make it difficult for Taylor to get past, even if it means he is taking few more knocks than usual as if they can't tackle him, proffesional foul and stop the play.
So with other managers having obviously worked on stopping him, Taylor hasn't developed his game with the knowledge of him most likely being double marked, hence why his progress has seemed to level off and not progress.
And yes if he manned up a bit he wouldn't get pushed around/off the ball so much. Last season I thought his awareness of players coming in for him was very high, an he beat players or let them come in if there was no option, but this season he seems to be a second or two off the pace.
