  1. Just putting second tin hat on. Agree with almost every word! Of course I knew and she knows too, she will chuckle and know telling mum will cause us both grief. Time and a place maybe but why ? Shouldn't we just know to behave ourselves? A lot of this is me knowing I'm fighting a losing battle here but we have to strive for perfection don't we? just going looking for another tin hat.
  2. Sorry for the delay in response but just been to put my tin hat on , as i said before I thought i might get some stick on this. I agree with a lot of what you say, the naughtiness and the atmosphere and the fact that people do tone it down - usually if I ask them to they do. I might be asking a lot here but why do we need to eff and jeff and call for people to die or whatever? I do think we should accomodate children, I also don't think football grounds should be an adult environment as mentioned in the reponse above, we must encourage kids (otherwise Smalley and Eardley would never be allowed in the team). I've let off steam at the footy for years now so I agree with you on this but do we need to be abusive?(please refer to the above where i admit that I have been abusive in the past ) I don't think me or the club want people who swear not to come, just that it might be a nicer and more welcoming environment if they didn't - and here I''m talking more about about abusive songs and chanting rather than the occasional' FFS Eardley your mates in the other stand now' Also i'm not saying the kids will be abused, just that they might benefit from not hearing a load of c**p sung every week. Also slighltly taken out of context I know but 'If I see a child I will cut it down' I know she's only 8 but she 's a big lassie! KTF
  3. Rather surprised by your response mate. If you were to sit next to an 8 year old (or any one for that matter ) on a train or the cinema would you think it ok to eff and jeff? Also as a latics fan would you prefer to see the support increase or your 'personal rights' prevail?
  4. This topic was always going to provoke some interesting responses. Are you suggesting I don't take my 8 year old daughter to games? if so how do we build our fanbase for the future. She went to several away games last year as well where the language is often worse. Again, should I not take her or should grown men ( the usual offenders) be able to control their drink intake and their mouths? Look forward to your response.(edit: not just aimed at you KH but others who have posted on this topic) On a more positive point we went to pickup her season ticket today and she was given a Boundary Blues scarf (very nice) and free. Yet another example of the club doing well. BB membership is £50 for a season ticket the scarf and 2 brilliant parties. But then again maybe they should just tell her to F off?
  5. if memory serves wasn't there a game away against Sheff United where we were 2 up after 5 minutes and lost 7-2 or was it just a nightmare that I can remember?
  6. don't think they've had the drawing out of a hat, sorry, tribunal yet
  7. So Hills is the trialist mentioned on the OS I suppose. Does this mean the end of the line for Phillips then?
  8. Blackpool have done a rather strange/interesting (depending on your point of view) deal here and they have someone almost signed up. hmmmm...... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ool/7536333.stm double post sorry.
  9. agree wholeheartedly with what Diego says. Well done lads and all the very best of luck. And the rest of you fine people get donating!!
  10. Yes, after the pub I used to sup in up there. there was a good pub crawl 9(ou needed a driver) where you could do 6 pubs called the Farmers Arms within a 15 miles radius(excluding the sea) They were an unimaginative bunch.
  11. It's not the site Bob, it's the town. I lived and worked there between 79 and 82, had season tickets for both footy and rugby. Town at the end of a 28 mile cul de sac. There are villages around there with only 4 surnames in the phone book.
  12. Yes that's right but I think it's the fact that he can be bothered that I'm most impressed with. Other's attitude might be it's a friendly I'll do it tomorrow or even let 'em read it in the Chron!
  13. Impressive that Stuart knocks a report out for a friendly within 10 minutes of it ending. http://www.oldhamathletic.premiumtv.co.uk/...1353869,00.html
  14. thanks for doing that tonight Mark. I've not been able to access it for quite a few games now but tonight I followed the Java download instructions (tricky for me) and it worked!!
  15. I think , but i may be wrong, that if they have both sets of fans in the one end it means a big increase in stewarding (and possibly policing ) levels and it's nothing to do with how many the oppo were bringing tonight or last week.
  16. I've been concerned about this situation since last week. If Shez isn't sure about him then why take him off at half time against Derby. I would also think the agreements about wages etc would have been tied up with Stoke before he came here. I've only seen the 45 against Derby but thought he looked great and from what other people said he looked just as good against grimsby. I hope we are not pissing about with this because i can't see us getting anyone better and part of our problems the last 2 seasons with Shez has been getting players very late on when they have no time to bed in before the season starts. I'm concerned that if we don't sort it soon then someone else will get in first and offer Stoke and the lad a deal. Then again what do i know.
  17. can anyone actually give the rest of us a summary of what went on? Thank you
  18. Rather surprised at your assessment of the views on here. I thought recently the concensus was for O'g and Davies.Hughes seems way off lasting 90 minutes but the last 20, then maybe
  19. Well done for reminding us of this(I hadn't realised it was the anniversary) and there are some really great posts on here. My proudest moment was the brighton game at home when we turned out the biggest set of nohopers and non achievers ever likely to pull on a Latics shirt. I think 6 of that days squad played fewer than 10 league games in their whole careers. Every man jack of them fought their hearts out and I knew at the end of that game even though we had been thumped that there was hope. A 3-1 home defeat and I came out with a huge smile on my face, we were alive and we sure were kicking. It's good to remember those days sometimes especially when we all get a bit giddy and start thinking the club/team is something that it's not. We will achieve what we will acieve so lets enjoy the present. Onwards and upwards!!
  20. Positives Hazel -as good as last year Philips- almost sensational. We have got to get this guy O'Grady - Have been told by Darlo and Bury fans that he is good and I wasn't disappointed. Strong in the air, quickish and passed the ball ok Davies - worked hard and showed some good touches Smalley - looks stronger and a bit quicker and more confident than last year. Will be good for the last 20. Lomax - can do a decent job at LB Allott - Allott Negatives Gregan - dropped a bollock and can be an arse sometimes Left Back - Taylor bloody awful and basically left out for the wolves . Sort it Shez Hughes - not fit Whittaker - bypassed, expected him to look more involved Phillips - said it before- if we don't agree the deal soon someone else will. he is class at this level and someone else will sign him up. Sort it Shez! Maher - red boots? perleeeasee! Meat and Potato pie in the Chaddy not as good as the Lookers version, Could be a long season.
