  1. Counting on my abacus, this week would have been £1000, so I calculate next week will be £1050 not £800.
  2. In December 2009, while playing for Wycombe, he scored and was sent off against Latics for raising an arm against Gregan.
  3. NOTE: This information may be out-dated in an ever-changing world. Sutton United FC, The Borough Sports Ground, Gander Green Lane, Sutton, Surrey SM1 2EY Capacity: 5,013 (Seats 765) but the record attendance was 14,000 v Leeds United in the FA Cup Fourth Round, 24th January 1970. Away fans are mostly housed in the Collingwood Road End. This modern terrace is covered and to gain entrance you need to walk through the park alongside the ground. A previous visitor reported that although the terrace is modern, the toilets at that end are from a bygone era! In addition, a small number of seats are made available in the Main Stand. Although this stand is raised above pitch level, it is set back and the leg room is less than generous. There are supporting pillars running across the front of the stand that could impede your view. How to get there: By car: Travel along the M25 to junction 8. Then north on the A217 for about 15-20 minutes. Ignoring signs for Sutton itself, stay on the A217 to the traffic lights by the Gander Inn (on the left), turn right into Gander Green Lane. The Borough Sports Ground is about 200 yards up this road on the left – if you reach West Sutton station you have gone too far! Car parking: The car park at the ground is for permit holders only. There is street parking available but further away from the ground due to a local residents’ parking scheme, so please check signage on lampposts for restrictions. Town centre car parks are a 5-10 minute walk from the ground. By train: Sutton Railway Station is only one stop (or two minutes travelling time) away from West Sutton Station which is adjacent to the ground. West Sutton is served by trains via Sutton, London St Pancras and Bedford. As you come out of the narrow station entrance, turn right and the entrance to the ground is down on the right. By Bus: From the Post Office (Stop S) on Sutton High Street, it is four stops on the No. 413 bus to the ground.. Where to drink: Behind the Grandstand there is a Social Club, which welcomes away fans and normally has real ale available. Around a ten-minute walk away at the traffic lights on the main A217 is the Gander pub. The pub options in Sutton town centre are numerous. JD Wetherspoon has two outlets The Moon on the Hill and The Nonsuch Inn. There are an All Bar One and a handful of other options clustered at the top of the High Street all within five minutes’ walk of Sutton railway station. The Old Bank, immediately to the right of Sutton station as you exit, has live sport and food. Where to eat: All the usual High Street restaurant chains are present. The Club catering available inside the ground includes Bacon & Egg Baguettes, Bacon Baguettes, Hot Dog In Baguette, Cheeseburgers, Burgers, Hot Dogs, Egg & Bacon Rolls, Bacon Rolls and Chips.
  4. The two retired police officers and former solicitor accused of trying to minimise the blame on South Yorkshire Police in the aftermath of the 1989 disaster have been acquitted. The trial Judge ruled they had no case to answer. He said the statements had been prepared for the public inquiry chaired by Lord Taylor in 1990, which was not a statutory inquiry and therefore not considered "a court of law", so it was not a "course of public justice" which could be perverted.

  7. IIRC Junior Agogo scored the penalty which won Latics the trophy in the 1999 Isle of Man International Football Festival. Thanks for the memories, Junior. Rest in peace.
  8. That's good to know. Do you also sing this when Wham are on the radio: We're goin' up with Junior Agogo When last season we were feelin' so low We're goin' up with Junior Agogo Take me to Latics tonight.
  9. Thanks again Pete for always finding space to include my song adaptations. There was one when I had alerted Andy Ritchie to Walsall making Brett Angel available for transfer. It went like this: So when I'm lyin' in my bed Thoughts running through my head And I wish Carlo would score I want Brett Angel instead And through it all He rarely earns selection He mainly (only) scores v Wrexham Proving Ritchie wrong And when he gets the ball Wherever he may take me I know that he will break me When he comes to fall, I know he'll waste it I want Brett Angel instead.
  10. If they know their history, it should be yard dog bowl.
  11. Landing in Genoa in 1995, on the second attempt with a strong cross-wind, brought applause from players and supporters.
  12. I've been too busy watching it to start a thread.

  14. A retrial of the manslaughter charge against David Duckenfield is scheduled for 7 October 2019.
  15. Salford away is scheduled for Sat 25 January, which is FA Cup 4th round day.
  16. If the detail is attractive, this may be a better way of spending what would have been my season ticket money.
  17. He was probably among many Oviedistas I have met but the name doesn't ring a bell!
  18. Support Shamrock Rovers since meeting their fans in the Isle of Man in 1997, and Eintracht Frankfurt since meeting their fans in Newport in '98, on the way to Cardiff with Latics. The dream is for Rovers to get through the first qualifying round (and second if necessary) of the Europa League and play Eintracht in the second/third. Follow the results of Burton Albion. Also shareholder in Real Oviedo.
  19. It is and the bar of the Social Club at the ground used to be a stopping-off point for some mini-buses when Latics were playing in the Midlands.
