  1. Isn't that the point though? He (apparently - long distance fan here too!) shows he has talent but doesn't seem to be bothered/is incapable of stringing it together consistently?
  2. Losing to them at Moss Rose in 1999 is one of my lowest points as a Latics fan. Didn't that bandana guy (Sodje?) get a late winner? Thought that had to be the lowest ebb we would be at. If only a crystal ball had been handy...
  3. Just realising watching this that I genuinely loved every single player for Latics back then. God they were incredible days...
  4. Former Latics GK Dean Bouzanis has left Melbourne City and signed for Dutch Eredivisie side PEC Zwolle.
  5. I think that was 1999 time, night match at end of season, a 3-3 draw. I think they needed a win to stay up and were 3-1 up but we fought back. Grobelaar was in goal for us and (I think) Ronnie Jepson actually scored a goal for us!
  6. Yeah, bunch of Dave Basset thugs. They always gave us problems unfortunately....
  7. Also Ludo bloody Miklosko. Memories playing tricks surely but just remember him catching every single cross, saving everything and being completely faultless. So annoying! See also: Eric Nixon.
  8. Kanchelskis. Ripped us two or three times. Saw him on a TV doco while channel-hopping recently. Jeez he's put on some timber. Also remember Paul Merson playing well at BP a couple of times. Mark Tyler had the game of his life for Peterborough against us once. Also David White had a brilliant match against once when City crushed us 5-2, think he got a hat-trick?
  9. Can't argue with that. Redfearn in the Championship season was brilliant. Wish he'd stayed with us longer....
  10. Just saw that Genseric Kusunga is on the subs bench for Dundee in SPL against Hearts. Was he any good for us (that late goal v Peterborough apart)?
  11. Former Latics loanee Fabio Ferreira has joined Sydney FC (the current dominant A-League team here in Oz). He's done the rounds with a few Australian teams. Dean Bouzanis has clumsily given away a pen for his Melbourne City side v Sydney FC in tonight's match.
  12. That 5-3 v Pompey was my first match. Cold Tuesday night, plastic pitch, loads of goals...I was hooked! Been plenty of water under the bridge since then...
  13. Yeah. To be fair I think he did okay for his first season with a few other good goals (from memory) but he wasn't great. If you look back we still had a good team at the start of the 94/95 season with Sharp, Gerrard, Ritchie, Jobson, Richardson etc. Think we were bit unlucky in a couple of matches early on but then Royle left and it was Goodnight Vienna....
  14. Didn't we have two Dean Crowes over the years? Has to be some good Dove/Owl puns somewhere too....
  15. Gah...instantly taken back to almost crying on the Tube after the QPR play-off match. 2002/03 - the season of a million if onlys.
  16. Last played for an unpronounceable Bulgarian side last season but left them after some sort of row. Listed on the Japanese website as playing for us. Maybe we just signed him to keep Placide company. Edit: Sorry, didn't see link in above post!
  17. Haven't we got a thoroughly miserable record there? Didn't we draw 0-0 there once, but apart from that lost every time? Surely we are due a win there....
  18. I wonder (genuinely)...would there be anyone in Oldham right now with Clarence as their first name?
  19. Get this poster a drink. I hate getting abusive on internet forums (most pointless thing ever) but seriously...can anyone moaning/having reservations/whinging etc about this PLEASE, PLEASE shut the feck up and do one? It's Clarence Seedorf. CLARENCE SEEDORF. He might be managing Oldham Athletic. Even if ends up being cobblers, isn't the fact that we're even discussing this absolutely fucking brilliant? Think about it. Clarence Seedorf as Oldham manager. George Weah as assistant. Orange/Tangerine (whatever) wigs everywhere. 9000 camera crews for his first game. News crews from Japan interviewing fans. Total football. The players' reaction when they see Seedorf walk in the dressing room for the first time. It's mental. it's brilliant. It's what football is about. Enjoy it.
  20. If Seedorf is appointed, the club should make his first home match half-price entry and make it an 'Orange theme'. Get the orange wigs, old Dutch shirts out, get some Dutch fans over. Get BP buzzing.
  21. Yeah, I was stuck in the corner with a terrible view near the piss-throwing QPR fans but even from there it looked a worldie. Hallworth's chase back and push away away at WBA was brilliant. Not brilliant as such, but Gary Kelly's two penalty saves v City - one from Kinkladze at home when we beat them 2-1 in the otherwise awful relegation season of 96/97 and the one from Gareth Taylor when we beat them 2-1 at Maine Road a couple of years later - were sweet as well.
  22. Yeah, maybe midway through the second half? Their player (Furlong?) smashed a volley from close in and he somehow pushed it wide. God, Pogs was brilliant that season.
  23. And also some info on his post-Latics life would be great too please. Anyone...?
