  1. Scores so far tonight not really doing Latics any harm.
  2. More an insight into the man himself but also with a small nod to his patience with, and investment in, Unsworth's master plan. I think this brief interview may have arisen because perhaps Suzanne Geldard reads this board and felt a bit more inside-info was a good move to demonstrate Rothwell is aware of the recent fans' unease at the situation with the manager.
  3. Dream on..they are blind to Unsworth's failings, apparently.
  4. He probably gets the service he needs to put the ball in the net. It would be a different story at Latics.
  5. Unfortunately, we can't unless a boycott is carried out and I think loyalty to the Rothwell's will not allow that. The board need to realise and act but we all know it isn't going to happen.
  6. He hints in his post-match that reaching safety playing ugly will be replaced by his version of more quality football. I'm not exactly sure what that will mean in terms of formation etc. I can see a player of quality in Shelton, jury is out on Chapman who would probably have been an unused sub yesterday if Gardner had not crumbled after 22 minutes. He's not going anywhere, we have to accept that.
  7. There appears to be some certainty of this "promotion push" next season, personally, I don't see it happening unless he brings in players of distinct quality for this level of football, whoever they may be and should they want to come to Latics. There will have to be a lot of players ejected and some serious negotiations taking place. A busy summer? Let's hope so. I am happy with the win, of course and I don't think Unsworth said much wrong in his post-match interview, although he has a long, long way to go before he can convince me he is the man for the job. I watched the Boreham vs Halifax game and was not impressed by the allotment stadium or the football, which makes it all the more frustrating when I see BP and the football dished out by our team, knowing they are capable of more. Match aside, the goals by Shelton and Reid were pretty special, especially Reid's and as much as we complain about the standard of the game, those two moments were something which Maidstone got nowhere near conjuring up. A win at Gateshead, no matter how it is gained, would be justification as well as a springboard towards assured safety from relegation.
  8. I started to watch it but got dragged away by the good wife and ended up missing the rest of it. Happy for the win and for Reid getting another goal. No doubt he will be dropped to the bench and Fondop reinstated next game. The game itself, by what I have read on here, wasn't a classic but surely we have to be happy with the win. I have seen Latics play some utter shite over the years and still win. Can't complain. Gateshead up next and I am hoping they are not becoming our non-league bogey team.
  9. But..we all know that is not going to happen if that "convincing victory" isn't achieved. Maidstone are rock bottom, their results have began to improve, Latics should be running out with a win and they will, if they don't produce yet another dismal performance and play like they are capable of.
  10. Contrary to the shit-shows we have been mightily privileged to watch, I am agreeing with you. The overall lack of competency and commitment beggars belief which only confuses the fans when the brief spells of attacking and effective football have managed to surface.
  11. He may well have done so and will probably still show his quality at this level but not necessarily with pace.
  12. They have to win every game, if possible but we have to accept, Unsworth is not going anywhere. Wingers galore tomorrow!
  13. All opinions are worthy of a listen and mine is that we need to see him in a few games, out wide, hopefully, before we can pass any kind of judgement. No point in listening to fans of other clubs and judging a player before he's even kicked a ball, as we have seen when ours have left to go on to bigger and better, no matter ow much we slated them. Ask the question again this time next week.
  14. Didn't Twatter usually have a kind of 'live feed' on the youth team matches? I imagine youth team match reports will take just as long as a first team report to reach the official site. I'm not one for keeping up with their games but I miss the old reserve team games at a cold, sparsely populated BP.
  15. Ah, I haven't listened to all the podcasts but I think we can generally agree it is something which is going to be required to compete at the top.
  16. Hopefully not, it's about time another player came through the ranks and I wonder if Unsworth is monitoring him.
  17. He is one to watch and Latics seem to have a habit of being on the wrong end of crap ref decisions. On the whole though, I thought both teams were way, way ahead of the standard this league generally has in terms of football. As oafc1955 said, we will need 6 or 7 players of good quality to get anywhere near that standard, although I haven't read anything about these players coming in?
  18. Effiong scores for the Dags. *EDIT* Scores both.
  19. No. It boils down to how interested someone is and, obviously, BP1960 is. Youth games used to be tweeted on the OAFC account, did they not?
  20. It's not just OAFC who can sometimes mis-manage potential.
  21. No fan wants to lose their club and as a fan in general, no club to go out of business. How would this possibly affect promotion/relegation?
