  1. That's why we have not and probably will not, be bringing anybody in on a permanent deal.
  2. Tuesday February 20th, 2001...evening kick off against Reading. It was effing freezing and the consensus opinion was for the game to be called off. The club, however, pulled out all the stops to get the game on and it went ahead. The pitch was like a skating rink, with players treading warily and not committing themselves to anything stupid. The P.A. announced proudly over the system that the club had practically worked miracles to get the pitch playable, whilst over games around and about had been postponed. As fans, we were chuffed to have a game to go to...we lost 0-2. Admittedly, the pitch was in a better condition (and so was the squad).
  3. Probably got it a bit worse than other clubs because of our height above sea level and the orientation of the pitch. Sod's law!
  4. Pity the Brentford fans if it is called off...knowing Latics' luck, it will be. I assume it's the bit down near the main stand that's not getting any Sun on it.
  5. The difference for O'Grady at 'Dale is that he has a manager who believes in him and a decent team to to play in. Stark contrast to what he would/did have at Latics.
  6. It's League two for us, then and even if he does go, the new man would have to turn on the miracle juice. Our fate, it would seem, is all but sealed. Good post from the Insider, but I don't think he told us anything we didn't already know.
  7. I think he must be reading this forum.
  8. So, what, exactly, has he done so far to remedy the striker crisis...apart from a brief cameo from Heffernan? From the 'Chron article on asked if he would like to see more fans through the turnstile. I hope that was a misquote, as I can't see the directors feeling the same way.
  9. You do have a point, there. The advent of the Internet and the Information Highway has given fans the opportunity to be closer to the club and each other. The flip side is that the club has to become an oracle of information. Fast, precise, honest and up-to-date...to the minute...to satisfy the the thirst for information that the fans' new found closeness requires. Message boards have become a soapbox for all fans alike, any club with an iota of sense will be monitoring the most popular forum connected to the relative football club. Whether or not they act upon the opinions of the fans is, in itself, debatable. The idea of abstinence from the message board is sensible, the urge to come on the board is, unfortunately, irresistible.
  10. Couldn't agree more...BP is a now a run down shack of a ground, with a product on the pitch to match it. To me, the last time it felt almost as bad as this was when Graeme Sharp was in charge and relegation to the second division was imminent. In contrast, every match in the premiership felt like a cup final...sitting in the Rochdale Road end next to the away fans was brilliant. I've never been this depressed about the Latics, the feeling of an impending crisis just won't go away.
  11. Now it's "Bees Buzzing" http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/page/NewsU...1948020,00.html FFS!!!
  12. To have four defenders like Neil Pointon in the team.
  13. Apologies...I thought it was the Reserves playing last night, not the Youth Team.
  14. Why would they wait until Saturday if it has already been decided? Surely he would be gone as soon as anyone with any clout made the decision.
  15. Well, there is nothing happening at our club...is there? It's a bit 'damned if you do, damned if you don't'. The official site has to be seen to be doing something in the wake of Ackey's departure...least they could do, is put up a report of the Reserve's match. Then again, there probably wasn't anybody there to watch it.
  16. OTID - that is one of the best posts I have read in a long while and perfectly sums up the feeling of apathy that is rife concerning the club at this moment in time. Dereliction, devoid of the match-day experience, devoid of emotion, devoid of direction and almost devoid of fans. Who in their right state of mind wants to keep paying £20+ to watch dross in a run down stadium, with a dismal lack of atmosphere? The board will do nothing...the land is their saviour...Boundary Park is in peril of dying as a sporting venue. The entire club may go the same way.
  17. Perhaps they are expecting a rush of applicants who could also double-up as manager.
  18. Now watch the standard of updates, match reports etc. plummet. You think it would be a dream job...obviously, it wasn't. Good luck Ackey.
  19. Can't see any drastic action being taken - I honestly think they've lost all heart.
  20. TTA won't get rid until there are only 10 games left and we are still in the :censored:.
