  1. This season is going to require patience. More patience than usual considering we have only just put the squad together and will be far behind our opponents in terms of fitness and organisation. That said, I am more hopeful than I thought would be possible a few weeks ago when Sheridan left. It sounds like we have a decent staff in place, rolled the dice with some of the new arrivals and if we can get through the first 6-8 games of the season without a complete tatering then we might be looking forward rather than over our shoulder. If we can manage that, I'd be happy. Anything more is a bonus and if we fall short, well that's Latics for you.
  2. I'd say it was worse dangling the real possibility of a decent season in front of us, and then just as soon as we build up a bit of enthusiasm whip it away from us.
  3. I have to agree. I feel conned, thinking he was going to be around next season, more the fool us, eh? That said, i'm clutching at those thin strands of hope that he stays and all can be forgiven.
  4. I think thats the gist. Far as we know, the guy above who posted £25k could've pulled it from his arse. Should be equal to the product of his wages and years remaining plus a bit extra.
  5. Compensation will be relative to what we were paying him. And we are paying him peanuts. Forget loyalty and what Shez means to the club - that does not translate into £. His compensatory value is based solely on what we were paying him and therefore how much we value him.
  6. More than anything, I just want to go to Latics and enjoy the experience more often than not. Is that too much to ask?
  7. Really hope we can keep hold of Coleman. Doubt we can afford much for Main, but it'd be nice to keep him or Holloway. Gerrard has worked wonders in defence and I'd like to see him next season as long as he didn't want the earth. But whatever my opinions are at the moment I have full faith that Shez will bring in and keep the players we need to mount a challenge next season.
  8. I cant stand it when people prophesize things against that really REALLY could happen.
  9. Absolutely agree. He kept us in it and a real show of passion at FT. He dealt with their corners well and pulled off some fine saves. Really happy with his performances (4 clean sheets in a row)
  10. I feel very aggreived to be honest. I thought we had done enough to deserve at least a draw. No chance that was a penalty and no chance Holloway wasn't fouled several times in their box. The guy was bear hugging him! We didn't take advantage of them going to 10 men. The ref did not help, felt hard done by. Hats off to their lad for the second. The corner OG was just one of those things... Luck very much against us. Running out of games to save ourselves.
  11. You simply cant disregard the poor management in the first half of the season from Kelly and Dunn. The players we have might be capable of doing much better with capable man-management and appropriate training regimes from the start. So as for our position being 100% down to the players is bollocks.
  12. You might think that the number of postponements we've had the pitch would be in better nick. Cant see it going ahead tomorrow.
  13. That's about the best description for Main I can think of.
  14. Coleman would be a fantastic keeper if we were in calmer seas. Unfortunately, we are fighting for survival and need someone with an experienced head between the sticks. If you ask me, it was Gary Kelly that kept us from dropping like a stone between 96-02. Goes to show the importance of having a solid, reliable keeper in times like these and I honestly think that Shez needs to shift his loan priority towards a keeper who can give Coleman a breather. As for the senseless bashing of the young lad, some people need engage their brain before they open their gob.
  15. Has there been any discussion about where they would put a scoreboard? Where the old one was? The obvious problem with that is people in the Rocky Rd end cant see it.
  16. I doubt any kind of fireguard would be useful for information
  17. Am I the only one who read that statement and concluded that maybe we didn't sell the sell-on clause? I took "confidential details" to mean the nitty-gritty, ins and outs of the deal which absolutely should be confidential. Saying that, if the club had been a bit more transparent on the whole matter there would be a lot less sh*t to scrape off the walls.
  18. Goes without saying really. We need to keep our heads, focus on the next match and beat Blackpool because that's another big game. It does feel good though ;-)
  19. Great result. Clean sheet as well. Squeaky bum time towards the end, but that is friggin' HUGE.
  20. 16 shots, 5 of which were on target. We need someone who can put just one of them in the bag of the net. If they can put more than one in, then that would be a bonus.
