  1. Just got this of DRFC forum!! TOPIC: Paul Heffernan to Abertawe Swans??? Paul Heffernan to Abertawe Swans??? 1 Day, 14 Hours ago Heard on the Welsh borders that Paul Heffernan is contemplating a move to Swansea. Unsure if this is a loan deal or transfer. Should Billy boy sign for Burnley then where would that leave us. Oh forgot...Brookers was nearly fit, back in full training but slipped on the ice and damaged his DRFC Giro.
  2. On a serious note...Just when is Purdie expected to be fit, anybody know?
  3. Power and the passion by Midnight Oil? People, wasting away in paradise Going backward, once in a while Moving ahead, falling behind What do you believe, what do you believe What do you believe is true Nothing they say makes a difference this way Nothing they say will do You take all the trouble that you can afford At least you won't have time to be bored At least you won't have time to be bored Oh the power and the passion, oh the temper of the time Oh the power and the passion Sometimes you've got to take the hardest line Sunburnt faces around, with skin so brown Smiling zinc cream and crowds, Sundays the beach never a cloud Breathing eucalypt, pushing panel vans Stuff and munch junk food Laughing at the truth, cos Gough was tough til he hit the rough Uncle Sam and John were quite enough Too much of sunshine too much of sky It's just enough to make you want to cry It's just enough to make you want to cry Oh the power and the passion, oh the temper of the time Oh the power and the passion Sometimes you've got to take the hardest line I see buildings, clothing the sky, in paradise Sydney, nights are warm Daytime telly, blue rinse dawn Dad's so bad he lives in the pub, it's a underarms and football clubs Flat chat, Pine Gap, in every home a Big Mac And no one goes outback, that's that You take what you get and get what you please It's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees It's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees Oh the power and the passion, oh the temper of the time Oh the power and the passion Sometimes you've got to take the hardest line
  4. The Ferney Field fiasco petered out very quickly and I think there is a lot more to it than what was published in the press. Simon Corney said only the other week that it would have been a phenominal site and was their No1 choice. If it was that good a site then why didn't they push more for it's ressurection!!!!
  5. Whether we bring in Heffernan or a n other the seasons over and I'm not really bothered as long as we stay up, however, at the start of next season two recognised strikers please. Penney dropped a major bo****k in August by starting the season short of a couple of key players, If we'd had Heffernan or Nardiello alongside Pav from the start and another centre back we wouldn't be in this mess!! I'm looking for Penney to crack on next season, get rid of some dead wood and really go for it...let's get the crowds back to BP, play attacking football and give them something to shout about....One thing is for certain, another season like this one and I fear the BP faithful will be gone for good!!!
  6. I was just looking at the fixtures and because of the postponments recently we now have three succesive home games this month and another 3 in March that are absolutely crucial if we are to avoid a relegation battle at the end of the season. Four of the teams, Tranmere, Wycombe, Leyton O, and Brighton are in the bottom five and from these we must expect at least 9 points as a minimum if we are to get up towards mid-table safety, We still have to play Colchester, Leeds, Southampton, Huddersfield, and M K Dons away and Norwich and Charlton at home! Thoughts anybody?
  7. I don't think I could............in fact, I know I couldn't get any ex-latics or neutrals to go to a game at the moment. Even if entry was free it would still be pretty difficult! It's hard enough under normal circumstances but the way things are at the minute, with the cold weather and our style of play it's bloody well impossible. After the probable postponment of the Stockport game we have 3 home games in 10 days and if we average over 4000 for the three I'll be very suprised...this new marketing Guy has an almost impossible task to increase our fanbase and gain much needed coporate sponsorship. Also, If we remain in this slump much longer his progress next season will be seriously effected!!!!
  8. He's a good player at this level and the Carlisle fans don't want to lose him, they say he's the best striker at the club. We had Pericard on trial earlier in the season so I guess he is asking for too much money! If we were up near the top with better crowds perhaps we would probably have taken him on till the end of the season.
  9. I think we were a 3 sided :censored:hole when he arrived, as far as the atmosphere he and the rest of the players are the only people who can change that, stop feeling sorry for them for god's sake, they are well paid and doing something they enjoy.............it's about time they gave us a full shift and the fans something to shout about!!!!
  10. I remember Shez had this lad on trial for a month or so from Radcliffe and reports suggested he was making a good impression. Can anybody remember why he wasn't signed up? Looks like he could be another Trotman with the Rochdale coaching staff predicting a possible premiership player on their hands!!!
  11. We desperately need this team to show what they can do over the second half of the season. Hopefully we can get our injured players back soon and a steady climb up the league table would make any marketing incentives/offers for next years season tickets that much easier!!!
  12. Long term, you can only be successful in marketing if you have an attractive product to offer. If the team are playing good football and are well placed in the league then it makes marketing a whole lot easier. If the product on the pitch is poor and the facilities at the ground are non existant I fail to see how marketing can be a success!!! I fear this new 'Guy' is on a loser until our move to a new stadium and we improve the experience on and off the pitch. Hopefully, if and when we do, he will be well placed to take advantage of the 'New Brand'!!!!
  13. I reckon a :censored:-hot scouting network.....You just don't get lucky that many times!!!
  14. Where have you heard that!!! I really can't see any way City would be interested in signing Bentley........it's more likely you'll see an influx of Italian players with the arrival of Mancini! Bentley is valued at £10-12m by Spurs but I don't think they will have any interest at that price!!! As far as Richards is concerned, I think a tribunal would work out his estimated value in any swap deal but I think we would fair much better in a straight cash deal where hopefully we would collect upwards of 2m!!!
  15. We were relegated to the old second div ( now called the 1st since the introduction of the championship ) in May 97 so it is actually our 13th season in our present division.
  16. Didn't we have him on trial a few months ago?
  17. As much as I like Chris Taylor and admire his loyalty I think it's time to cash in but it would have to be no less than £1m....I wouldn't sell him for a penny less!!! There is life after Chris Taylor and the money will help us strengthen the team in the areas we need them most....especially if as reported Micah Richards is on his way to Spurs!!!
