Darryl Duffy from Bristol Rovers and Keigan Parker from Oldham have also been in discussions with Hearts and are close to signing. Jefferies has been long term admirers of all three and is desperate to sign them in time for Tuesdays cup semi final. We can hope!!!!

Another one of his 'utility' players to add to his full-back collection and still no striker..........I know we have injuries but we now have 8 players who play or are able to play at full-back......the old saying, Jack of all trades master of none springs to mind!!!! Hudds fans must be pi***ng themselves!

I really admire your optimism but their record of 15/16 games without a win has to break sometime and it has all the hallmarks of being a disaster game for us, they have had several new players come in over the last 2/3 weeks and it's just the type of game we don't need...........as for Tranmere we couldn't score against them at BP so what makes you think things will change in the short term. We have to aim for at least 4 points but if the worst happens and we lose both fixtures we'll be anchored in the bottom 3 and I reckon Penney will be on his way..............4 of the following 5 games are against teams in the top six!!! One thing is certain, if we fail to arrest this slide during February we will be amongst the favourites for relegation!!!

I just cannot believe that after all this time the striking position has now finally been deemed urgent....Where have you been Penney?... it has been blindingly obvious for months even allowing for Pav's injury that we have needed at least one decent striker in to strengthen the squad. As usual we are now set to make a last minute panic signing to try and arrest our disaterous slide down the table. Why can't we be proactive instead of reactive.......just for once!!!!!

Are you avin a laff.......it would be just like signing Windass all over again. He was great alongside Ferrie Bodde during Swansea's promotion season but I've seen him playing for Leeds and he's just not the same player, besides, he ain't going to come here on that sort of money!

'After watching Charlton v Orient it got me thinking about latics'. Yeh, it got me thinking too...............about how flamin pedestrian we are going forward in relation to those two!!! We are only four points behind Orient with a game in hand but judging by what I saw last night they will almost certainly finish above us in the table........58% of possesion and 12 shots on target is a bloody site better than we managed in the corresponding fixture!!! They took the game to Charlton and had a real go and and were justly rewarded with a deserved victory........I just wish we would show a bit more adventure and at least TRY to score instead of trying to keep the point we start with!!!! I don't tend to moan at the players during the game but I'm sorry to say, there is nothing in our style of play this season to get me even remotely excited and I'm also pretty sure that the signing of a striker this week is not going to bring an end to our obvious problems!!

Let's hope they included a sell on clause because the lad's going to be worth a few bob if he continues banging in the goals!!!

Oldham Nil.....................Now where have I heard that before? We wouldn't score in a brothel, apparantly we played much better than on Wednesday but if you don't score you don't win....simple. Before yesterday's game Millwall had won 1 away game all season and that was at Stockport in the middle of October so they were hardly going to come and attack us were they!! People were saying we had a chance to turn it round with the three up and coming home games where 7 points would be a minimum....well we have one from the first two!!!!!! I really don't think Penney can make this team perform and we need a fresh impetus from somewhere, and quickly. I also don't think that any one player will make a difference to this team under the current stewardship. We need a whole new game plan and tactical approach.........If that has to be from a new manager then so be it!!!!

We've had plenty of stats on the site over the last couple of weeks but here is a simple at a glance....so far this season!!!!! P W D L F A GD 27 6 8 13 21 34 -13 All competitions home and away. That's just 6 wins and only 21 goals in 27 games. Average home attendance is 4976. This includes a JPT game against Accrington (1619) but is balanced by a promo game against Exeter (6230) Considering we have played Leeds twice, Huddersfield, Stockport and now Tranmere that figure is horrendous and the nearest visiting team until the end of the season is Walsall!!! The 2000 or so Norwch fans will be a bonus but even with that we will be lucky to hit 5000. This should be enough to convince Corney & Co that drastic action is needed.......whether that's the sacking of Penney, a transfer splash, or whatever, something clearly needs to change, and quickly!!!!

I was so bored on Wednesday night I even considered going home at half time and wish I had, just looking around the RRE was enough, the faces on the supporters told me everything, coming to Latics has become a chore and right now I think it is far worse than the Talbot, Moore and Sharp days. I have been offered a free ticket for today's game and still decided to give it a miss, that's how bad I feel. Regardless of Corney's recent backing of the manager another defeat and poor performance today could spell the end for Penney and I for one will have no sympathy whatsoever. I think the Penney out chants will be heard for the first time today, and really, who can blame them. For me this is possibly the most talentless, dissinterested, and negative team I can remember in 50years watching the Latics!! Crowd today?.............3750 with 600 from Millwall. If it was a night match I think there would have been less than 3000!!!!

Already my player of the season by a mile and I shudder to think where we would have been without him.....to think Penney nearly ended his Oldham career!!!!

I don't really think a club in our division needs a 30 man squad and there aren't many players on 2 year contracts never mind 3. Of course I realise the loan system is there to be utilised and due to financial restraints some clubs have to rely on it more than others but unfortunately the majority of loan players have no affinity with the club whatsoever and that's why some fans don't like them.

Shouldn't there be 60 other players to make up your ill-thought out percentage calculation? Quoting DP.....Who mentioned DP? I certainly didn't.......Read the post nesbit!!!! Penney's record, which as you have pointed out is OK. What I did say was, 90% are a waste of time and hardly benefit the club. Look at our loan signings over the last 3 or 4 years and you could probably count on two hands those that have been succesful.

He's had money and he's spent it on Furman and Colbeck....he made wholesale changes in the summer when really he didn't have a clue how good or bad our squad was apart from a little advice from Big Joe. The players he's brought in are certainly no better and possibly worse than we already had....he's signed them all and must be held accountable!! He wanted hungrier and fitter players ( His words!!! )............have we got em? Have we hell!!!! Four or five signings in the summer including a CB and another striker followed by another few adjustments in this window and I think he would have faired much better!!!

I don't want anymore loan players unless it's with a view to a permanent move, enough is enough!!!!!.... 90% of the time they just come to get fit and are a complete waste of money, I would much rather play one of our youngsters, at least then it would give them some valuable experience!!!!

If TTA bail out and we go into administration before the end of the season, by the time the new season starts we will be in Liquidation and -10 points will be the least of our problems!!
