  1. The simple truth is that according to the poll his popularity over the last couple of weeks has plummeted alarmingly...........2/3 of fans on this site now want him out!! I haven't heard any 'Penney out' chants as yet but we must be pretty close to it..... another dismal performance on Saturday and I think they will begin!
  2. I would keep Pav and Gregan and maybe Stephens, Jacobsen and Holdsworth, try and get a fee for Taylor while we still can.... as for the rest of em, i really don't care!!!
  3. It's wrong I know but I was half hoping Tranmere would score last night if it lead to the departure of Penney because I just don't think he's capable of keeping us up! I think there needs to be some sort of statement from the club anytime soon. Corney & Co. have been very quiet of late regarding performances on the pitch. We need to know what their thoughts are and if his job is safe or under threat!! Back him or Sack him!!
  4. Quite solid defensively. ( Against a crap Tranmere forward line)
  5. How just the one game can have a massive effect on supporters views!!! In the last poll 2 weeks ago on the subject of Penney's popularity well over 50% of supporters wanted him to stay at the club and over 70% of those until at least the end of the season and now a similar percentage want him out immediately!!!! I reckon that a loss on Saturday coupled with a poor performance could well be his last game! As for his replacement .....I haven't got a clue but as we have little money I think there's a fair chance it would be an internal appointment Duxbury/Philliskirk probably until the end of the season.
  6. I would give him the next two games against Millwall and Brentford to show he has what it takes and 3 points would be the absolute minimum!!!
  7. I just watched Penney's after match report and have to say it's Ronnie Moore all over again. He shows no affinity to this club at all, you would think we were mid-table the way he was talking and he genuinely doesn't look at all bothered about the situation we are in!!! He kept going on about the lack of fitness from both sides and a lack of quality from both sides....who the hell is interested in both sides it's Latics he should be concerned about and nothing more. You would think he is talking about a meaningless end of season game rather than a relegation 6 pointer. If that is the way he talks to the players it's no wonder we are in this mess!!!!! He says we will be up for it on Saturday because millwall is a bigger game....................Oh Really!!!
  8. If they had any brains they would be better footballers!!!!
  9. The result on Saturday and the relegation of this club is minor as to what is really happening...........OAFC is in absolute freefall and if we continue as we are then I think it's very existence as a club is under threat. The crowds are at an all time low and reducing week on week and what little entertainment we had has now completely gone!!!! Last night's performance was once again totally unacceptable and although you have to blame the players who don't seem able to do even the simplest of things, it's the manager who picks the team and amongst other things he is there to organise and motivate the squad but I see absolutely no evidence of this whatsoever!!! I have been out of work since September and really have to be careful with my funds and was in two minds whether to go last night...I decided to go, and yes, I wasted another £20 on the hope that we could finally turn the corner and start to win a few games, how wrong I was!!!!!!....If that is the standard of football we have come to expect at Boundary Park then I want no part of it, and judging by the crowd last night many more supporters obviously feel the same!! Enough is enough and I'm sad to say that is my last game this season and I will not go and be subjected to this shi*e anymore! I have seen some very poor teams here over the years but you can forget Talbot, forget Sharp, forget Wadsworth, and forget Moore, Penney's football team is a joke and without doubt the worst I have ever seen at Boundary Park in 50 years!!!!
  10. Don't think relegation would worry them too much anymore as after the Failsworth move they will be gone anyway!!
  11. We'll be lucky to get 3000 total on Saturday.............Penney's job has to be under threat!!!!
  12. To all you happy clappers where ever you are who keep refering to our games in hand, wake up and smell the coffee........We are a bloody awful team, totally clueless and under the real threat of relegation. We have sacked managers when in the top half of the table so this guy's job has got to be under threat....that was alehouse football again!!! We haven't had a home game in over 4 weeks and only 3000 home fans turn up........people are now voting with their feet in droves and after tonight I've had enough and seriously considering joining them!!!! It was fully 15 minutes before we ventured into their penalty area and 31 minutes before we had our first shot on goal!!!!! The signing of Heffernan is not going to suddenly change the fortunes of this team!!!
  13. I think the death of Jeff Astle the former West Brom legend was attributed to excessive heading of the ball...Look out Gregan!!!! It has to be said the balls were a lot heavier in those days!
  14. We are in the bottom places on merit... not just because of the weather... we deserve to be there. We don't have many games in hand on the teams above us, just 2, and we have to bloody well win them! We've only won 2 out of the last 13 league games scoring just 10 goals, and we've won just 3 of our opening 11 home games......that sequence of results ain't gonna change anytime soon unless he plays Abbott and Taylor and hopefully Heffernan from the start!!!! It's OK having three home games on the trot but to win them you have to score...something we've failed to do regularly home and away!! I agree with you prozac, Fully fit or not Abbott is our only threat and must start tomorrow. People say there's no need to panic and that's true, however, being in the relegation places can have a negative effect on teams....believe me, if we were to lose against Tranmere tomorrow night the Millwall game would become massive!!!
  15. If If If.....and if Orient win on Tuesday we go into the bottom four!!!!
  16. 'A bit lucky' you say, well I wish we had their luck as it's not run out yet!!!..........Ashton's £3m move was only 5 years ago, David Vaughan to Real Sociedad in 2007 and Nicky Maynard's move to Bristol City for 2.25m was only 18 months ago! That averages transfer receipts to the club of over 1m per year over the last five years. These are just the main movers there are more besides!!!
  17. David Platt, Craig Hignett, Danny Murphy, Seth Johnson, Rob Hulse, Dean Ashton,........... will he be yet another player to come off the Crewe production line in a couple of years?
  18. Just slightly more appealing than OAFC don't you think!!!
  19. Aug 8th Norwich 1 v 7 Colchester Jan 16th Colchester 0 v 5 Norwich How weird is that!!!!
  20. If we think our crowds are bad this year then what will we average next season? Hopefully, when all our injuries clear up we may well finish just below half way in this league, I say hopefully, there are no guarantees. If that happens there will not exactly be a rush for next years season tickets and another drop is almost certain. Looking at the tables at the moment there is a real possibility that Leeds Huddersfield Tranmere and Stockport will not be in this league and we could have only Rochdale as our only 'big' derby game next year......If they blow it ( which is not impossible ) it could be the likes of Chesterfield or Rotherham. We would probably attract better crowds if we were relegated. How flamin sad is that!!!!!!
  21. Just clocked this on DRFC Wikipedia After difficult times for the club in the 1980s and 1990s they have recently found their best form for arguably the past 50 years. Successive promotions in 2002-2003 and 2003-2004 under the helm of manager Dave Penney returned them to the Coca Cola League I. Penney left in August 2006 and was replaced with former AFC Bournemouth manager Sean O'Driscoll, with Richard O'Kelly as assistant manager. The club has few financial worries due to owner John Ryan's commitment to invest heavily into the club. Due to this a new stadium was completed in December 2006 and their first game at their new Keepmoat Stadium was against Huddersfield Town F.C. on New Year's Day, 2007.[7] I have read that Dave Penney had left the club of his own accord saying he had took the club as far as he could....They have a wealthy owner in John Ryan so why would an ambitious young manager leave a club that were only 4 months away from the dawn of a new era and the opening of a new stadium. 2 months later he was managing Darlington!!! It just seems a bit strange!!
