season ticket sales next season and attendances
oafc1955 replied to dobxal's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
TTA need to make a major decision and quickly. If we could take a promotion season to Failsworth it could just ignite this club once again, however, If we are going to progress we will need a Gary Johnson type but we would have to match his ambition with a good salary and a much bigger playing budget.................The decision needs to be made whether we seriously want to become a Championship club or just drift along as we are, reducing our fan base and budget year on year. If it's the latter we may as well keep Penney, however if we do, next years budget will be a 2nd division one!!!! -
This has been done to death...........let's just see what happens!!!!!!!!

9 home wins since October 28th 2008

'but the team is now moving backwards again... If you could see little snippets of progress then you could handle it.....TTA say there's a much better atmosphere and a more proffesional attitude behind the scenes, but on the pitch where it really matters there has been NO improvement whatsoever!!! This guy will never get bums on seats and regardless of this seasons outcome he simply has to go!!!!!! -
so for the penney out protest

This club badly needs a manager that wants to play some football..........we are probably safe now but the whole season has been an absolute disaster with awful football in an awful stadium and not surprisingly fans are giving up on the team.......they have simply had enough!!!. You could argue that Penney may eventually turn it round given time but just how much time can we afford to give him? The guy is hardly going to suddenly change tactics for next year..........we've seen what his teams are about and it's not what Oldham fans want!!!!! Supporters are leaving in droves and interest in the team is at an all time low..........I know so many long term fans that are not renewing next season and if the exodus continues our budget will be lucky to just keep us in this division. I think TTA need to think long and hard over the coming weeks and do whatever they can to increase the playing budget because the football simply has to improve in order to get the fans coming back. You cannot keep blaming the supporters..........since the premier days we have on the whole been absolute garbage and have had 15 years of gradual decline. Come on TTA, spend some money on the team, get some success back on the field and almost everything else will look after itself, without a decent product out on the pitch how do you expect any progress to be made? I simply cannot believe they took over this club and spent all that money to simply struggle, year after year in this awful division. We have to get the fans a team to be proud of once again because at this present rate we won't even have a club to take to a new stadium!!!! -
Keeping it in the corner

Player Signing Today?
oafc1955 replied to jonnyl@tic's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
I thought it was 5 O'Clock for loans.............Remember Danny Jones last year at Stockport that was pretty late in the day!! The premiership player could be Fabian Brandy? -
We are lucky in that the teams below us are very poor but 12 points from the next 6 games would show me that Penney could have another season here, however, realistically, I just can't see it happening. We have had 3/4 of the season now and you just can't see any light at the end of the tunnel. If we fail to win any of our next two or even lose tonight I reckon he will be history!!!!!

From the chron......... The sticking point is believed to be at the Millwall end, with the Lions currently experiencing a shortage up front due to injuries to Gary Alexander and Neil Harris. Common sense really, and exactly the same reason why we should have refused to sell O'Grady to Rochdale when at the time we had injuries to Abbott!! We had nothing to lose and could have had a look at O'Grady in our punchless team to see if he could have made a difference and if not still sold him to Rochdale a couple of weeks later!
-
An injury crisis at Millwall scuppered a further loan for Price according to the rarely!!
-
Orient haven't won in 6 games..................You just know what's going to happen!!!!!!
-
By Christ..........I reckon he has finally realised that the problem is in the supply line to the front men. We don't create enough chances for the forwards to tuck away and have two wingers that constantly fail to get to the by-line and put in any sort of decent crosses. These are panic signings at best and it wouldn't surprise me one little bit if we were to collect only a couple of points from the next two home games. We should be bloody sorted by now squadwise.................4 points from the next two games is essential otherwise Penney has to go!!!!
-
Leyton Orient (H) Wycombe (H) Stockport (A) Brighton (H) Brentford (H) Gillingham (H) Normally these would all be winnable and our season would be safe but it's taken 23 games to amass 4 wins previously, and It's not going to happen under our current management, I think we'll be lucky to win 2!!! Enough is enough..............Penney has to go NOW or we'll be in division 2 next season!!!!

Just One shot in 90 minutes, surely that can't be right?........absolutely diabolical!!!!!!! Our games in hand are irrelevant if we don't shoot! -

Is Exeter a must win game?

Is Exeter a must win game?
oafc1955 replied to Lags's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
It's a must not lose game for me, however If we do lose and also fail to get maximum points against Leyton Orient I think TTA will have to make a brave decision come the Wycombe game!!! Relegation would be a disaster and any new man would have to be given sufficient time to save our season!!!!! -
Blackpool have a clause where he can be recalled after 28 days......if they execute that option we could be in the s*** again!!!!!
-
I agree, Penney's position must have been discussed at board level. The clock is ticking..................If we lose at Exeter I expect Penney to go!!!

The simple fact of the matter. . .
oafc1955 replied to philliggi's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
We've won 9 out of the last 43 league games and the odd goal or two wouldn't be too much to ask for...........hardly inspiring is it? Fans have always been like that as long as I can remember..................I suppose instead, we could all cheer them on to the second division!!!! -
Surely we could have negotiated a deal for Murray when we sold them Davies...........a Murray, Hughes partnership would have been brilliant!!! The lad wants to come back up north and even 2 months ago I think we would have got Murray for around £200,000, the O'Grady fee would have covered half of that and if we'd been winning and scoring a few goals the increase in crowds could have covered the rest....we must spend a small fortune every season on pointless panic loans that very rarely work out in the long term. The loan system is there to be utilised but let's be pro-active instead of re-active for a change and get a capable team in from the start!!! TTA say there is money available for a striker or two but it's too flamin late now and we should have brought someone in much earlier and maybe we wouldn't be in such a mess!!!

We need a totally new approach, this team is so predictable and boring, even if we retain our status in division 1 the damage has been done. Penney is simply unpopular with the fans and like Ronnie Moore just doesn't show enough passion for the club and the job......Season ticket sales will probably dip to under 2000 next season and we'll be lucky to average 3500, especially if we go down. Ritchie may or may not be the long term answer but we need a quick fix now and he's Oldham through and through.... if he could keep us up this season and improve the entertainment on the pitch I'm sure, at the very least, it would impact on season ticket sales.
