  1. Gerrard wasn't 100% or didn't play the last few games meaning the kids had to play. I'm not sure which one I'd take over the other but one thing we can take from the start of last season is, they can't both play.
  2. It's a bit more than that. He's "previous" at all his other clubs apparently so it's fair to assume that he's the same with us. He's put one tackle in in all the games I've seen him so it's bound to cause a little disquiet amongst his peers to say the least when he bawls them out when they don't pass to him.
  3. It's all a bit Donald Trumpish on this forum recently. Cherry pick a rumour that fits your agenda; push it as a gospel truth; declare anything which contradicts said rumour as "fake news"; if your rumour turns out to be true tell the world how clever you are; if it's a load of bollocks keep a low profile until the next opportunity arises. It's a bit tiresome really.
  4. I think most of us were surprised when he signed permanently for us, so the prohibitive terms of his release and sell on clauses were probably the only ways to land him. Richie said the only way we can sign better players is by promising to release them if the right offer came along which seems logical to me.
  5. However bad Corney was and admitting we know very little of Abdallah I would still steer a very wide course around Bury's Mr.Day. He's a gambler of the highest order.
  6. I agree we should be one of the favourites for promotion and see nothing wrong in aiming high. What I don't get is how some fans think it's a divine right to be in a higher league than our form warrants and look down on clubs who they perceive are "smaller" than us who are doing well.
  7. I wonder if other club's fans have the expectations and self-importance some of our fans have ? We were bottom four last season for a number of reasons that have been well chronicled on here but the fledgling manager seems to take more than his fair share of stick. Admittedly I didn't agree with all his team selections BUT whatever eleven that turned out should have been good enough to keep us in League 1. They couldn't graft a couple of wins out of the final few games and so were relegated. And before anyone gets on the lack of motivation from Wellens, if you need motivating to avoid relegation you're not a professional sportsperson.
  8. It may be a luxury we can ill afford so I see your point but it's a position that needs competition just as much as any outfield one. If that competition isn't relevant then a coach may just keep a first-choice goalie on his toes.
  9. Mate of mine who's a fair judge and a rovers fan told me he was a future international player before he made his league debut. I've never rated him but obviously judges better than myself have seen something in him. I just can't get my head round how a centre half gets injured virtually every time he makes a tackle !
  10. Last season's ticketholder's seats will show up as occupied whether renewed or not up to a certain time so that could misrepresent the numbers purchased.
  11. Wasn't a great fan of his but Pep's influence has made him twice the player he was previously. I'm all for picking player's in form so can see Alli not given a starting spot. Overall, with the likes of Henderson and Dier in there, I think we lack the flair to punish poor teams and will rely on playing on the break.
  12. Fine player with a great left foot. Still had a touch of class in the twilight of his career when with us and sadly suffered with Alzheimer's in his later years.
  13. Deserves a place on ability but his temperament's suspect.
  14. Don't like Utd. by any means but he's had a fair season for them and is versatile ( either full back or wing back ). Think Welbeck is lucky and Delph and Cahill.
  15. Sorry, didn't see today's game, was just going off his performances for us the other season. You have my blessing to carry on watching footy !
  16. If you think Palmer and Fane play the same role I'd take up another sport. I'll give you that Palmer's by far the better player.
  17. There's a lot of guessing and conjecture on here, most of it wide of the mark.... I would guess !
  18. There's quite a few on here like a Friday night whine !
  19. Would take Clarke over Gerrard from a coaching perspective as he displays a calmer, more professional attitude in my opinion. Think he could be useful to step in when injuries dictate. However whoever it is he'll have his hands full and should really earn his money.
  20. Did you not see his loan spell with us last season ?
