    Bloke behind me was shouting at the team to press when Gateshead were pissing about with the ball from dead balls. With a 33 year old striker, McGahey and Lundstrum (carrying an injury) in midfield and Sutton and Kitching as wing backs pressing as a team is a non-starter.

    The council are, however, involved in this scheme by way of providing funds for the pitch re-furb and the ground sharing with the Roughyeads. As I understand it the pitch upgrade would not have happened without Council assistance.

    Their goalie is an absolute liability when pressed so we should be on his case from the outset.

    He's showed bits of skill sporadically but seems to lack the desire to be a professional footballer. He just goes through the motions in my opinion ( bit like I used to ! ).

    Not sure if we sold him, he just wouldn't sign the contract being offered. I only saw him a couple of times but he was our best player on both occasions, very skilful and not afraid to get stuck in as well.

    As long as he wellies it in the back of the net he'll do for me ! We've spent far too much time in our own half over the last couple of seasons so maybe we've now decided we've a better chance of winning if the ball's in the opposition half of the field.

    I maybe wrong on the re-inventing bit but he does seem more comfortable with the shackles off, probably because he's not a very technical type of player preferring to do things instinctively. His two finishes on Saturday were really good, I just wish more of his teammates hit the ball first time when in the box.

    We've tried to re-invent Sheron as a deep lying midfielder instead of giving him his head and letting him charge forward causing mayhem and scoring goals, much like we did with Garrity the other season. This seems to have dawned on Mellon after ten or so matches so once we sign a "Matty Palmer type" on loan in January, and extend Stones to the end of season the play-offs will beckon.

    But been injured so probably nursing his way back. He's a neat midfielder who looks after the ball so we still need a ball player.

    Cookson impressed me in a 45 minute cameo pre-season, very vocal and mature. Unfortunately he's another bloody centre half. Could be interesting at right back but not sure how good he is going forward.

    Garrity at the double tonight ! We tried to make him a tiki-taka footballer when he was a box-to-box midfielder.

    We don't know if he's mulling over loads of deals, and it's only four days.

    Not according to Bohemians website. Their manager stated he wanted to "move on" after three seasons on 8th December.
