  1. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt, there are fans who would be inclined to send this in. We will never know for sure, I just really hope this wasn't made up, please don't let it be written by someone at the club. Oh God, someone at the club wrote this didn't they? Seriously though, if this couple exist good on them, and congratulations on being able to afford so much. However, do not try to guilt trip other fans out of getting a refund they are entitled to, do not try and make fans feel unloyal for being annoyed the way the club has handled it, and stop with the holier than thou attitude. We all love the club, we just all think differently, and yes the club could have been smarter about this. It was only going to get fans' backs up, and alienate those who just want answers, At the end of the day, the club are receiving public criticism on a message-board and Twitter, certain people need a thicker skin.
  2. Not to be over dramatic here, but he is lucky that happened on the field. If I did that a Rochdale fan on the way in, I'd receive a ban from even attending and possibly a criminal record. As for how we as fans treat him, well ex-players get booed, so he deserves that at least. Anyone fancy chanting the Jaws theme tune every time he is on the ball?
  3. Let's cut them some slack their children worked hard for two years and were then released, Glackin and King spent two years living away from home. They have a right to be angry, and I can understand their frustration and hurt. They aren't even there to console their kid, as for the local ones their parents are merely angry about the situation. While I wouldn't do the same in their situation, I get it, and I'm sure the club are used to it. A few weeks of hurt and anger, and then get on the hunt for a new club, or another option, but let's not kick the parents and the kids when they are hurting.
  4. I have only seen the one study so I may not be basing this on a full and complete understanding of all the data there is. There was a study in the US regarding football, as they have had a number of cases with American Football, they felt the same could be said for many other sports. The football results were inconclusive and based on conjecture, they got together some college students and had them head the ball repeatedly over 15 minutes or so and found that there was noticeable damage to the brain. The next day the brain had fully healed, so those in charge of the experiment said they had proved damage occurs and that if someone spent a career heading the ball they would indeed suffer brain damage. They said it was the head movement not the ball, now there could be other studies which gives more evidence that there is a link. From that study I would say they are showing a lack of understanding about the sport, as players rarely spend a long period heading the ball. and there is usually a rest period after the game. Also they only had a small sample size and small sample sizes often produce extreme results that do not reflect the population as a whole. There is no doubt concussion is a dangerous thing, however, I have my doubts that merely heading the ball can cause severe brain damage later in life. I could be wrong, and am by no means particularly knowledgeable, but that is merely what I read. In terms of the actual thread, I hope the club do their best to treat him and his family with respect, and those who remember him playing have a chance to show their respect.
  5. Because adding I agree, actually adds nothing to the conversation and is just making a comment for a comments sake. Could be a number of petty reasons, but not everything is done out of pettiness. Personally not sure, merely giving an uneducated guess on something that is nothing to do with me and literally has made no difference to my life, with having very few facts or research, isn't that what the internet is for?
  6. Yes of course, there is also the chance that he is nothing more than our worst possible nightmares. My overall point is about the pissing contest that seems to be developing on every thread, also felt the is it possible part of the questions did no require me to put every possible option.
  7. The club need to seriously ask if they are treating fans with respect here, a fantastic advancement for the club tarnished by the lies surrounding it.
  8. Personal view is we have allowed fear and hatred to lead major votes, now we are left with a PM who didn't want to exit, yet is doing her best to exit at all costs. Sometimes to be a leader is to tell people they are wrong, and we have are people who want power. Labour are the choice for those who need support of the government, yet do not have a leader with fight or ambition. This will be an election based on Brexit, we will not come out from this any stronger. May is weak and incompetent, she has no views of her own and switch to the majority just to stay in power rather than fight for she things is right. She uses papers like the Mail to call those who do not support her and her party traitors, we are dividing as a nation, and rather than debate and agree to disagree we name call. This election is a power play, she is playing the public and making it all a big game. She has been watching too much House of Cards, she will win, and we will be stuck with Thatcher number two. She kisses up to anyone she can think of to get a trade deal, but then threatens Spain with war? When people voted for Brexit did they vote to ruin the relationship with our neighbors or leave the EU? She is showing contempt to Europe, yet then bending over for Trump? She should have been this strong leader, instead she is nothing more than the worst part of that disgrace of a government in a single human form.
  9. Remember when people could disagree on issues and not act like children? We all want is best for the club, those who dislike and distrust SC have a right to express their views without being considered doom mongers, those who support him have a right to as well. Those who are supporting him, carry on doing so, but do not be immune to asking questions, is not possible the money dried up long ago and now we really feeling the pinch? Those who want him gone, is it not possible that he has done his best but made mistakes rather being an asset stripper and about to drive us out of business due to greed?
  10. A fair few, not fair to tar him with that brush. He was angry at being subbed, he hasn't played for a while, great to see someone having that desire to play, especially as he is on loan.
  11. Personally would like the squad to look something like this: 2x Goalkeepers Dummigan Mantack (Wilson and Ryan Mc can play RB, or go to three at the back) Wilson Stott Edmundson Gerrard Clarke 1x Left Back Ryan Mc Lee Knight Fane Banks Green New Signing Taylor Flynn Erwin Tope Holloway New Signing That leaves us needing five new players as well as resigning Taylor and Erwin.
  12. Obviously not Lee's fault but that has to sum up the luck of this club, a man hole no-one knew about. It's actually quite funny, fair play to them for plugging away.
  13. Don't mind that, if a player is angry about being subbed good. Take that anger into the next game and prove a point, just as long as he doesn't go the other way and downs tools.
  14. Behavior like that deserves punishment, whether it be bans, police action whatever. It is not up to us to police them, if they can't go to a game and not throw stones at people they shouldn't be allowed to attend. This isn't boys will be boys fun, it's actually quite simple. The poor songs and the drum, well that is a matter of opinion, I dislike both, but they pay their money they have a right to do it. Just like I have a right not to join in, but when your actions could cause harm to someone it does not take other fans to stand in the way. Let the authorities deal with it, and then they can enjoy their Saturdays watching Jeff Stelling.
  15. Being on the bench for a Premier League team up north close to home and his family, or playing every week for a struggling southern Championship side who have changed manager twice since he joined? IIRC he left because his mum was ill, sometimes the motivations for a player to move and sit on the bench are not football related.
  16. I have agreed with most of your posts on this subjects and many others, but personally don't see this as being the end game. The houses behind the Chaddy struggled to sell, I don't see any land developer being keen on building more there. I think as a location, the car park of a football stadium, that has function rooms, a gym, a sportswear shop and constant traffic may not be too high on the wish list. This all opinions and conjecture, and while I agree that the club would be better if SC sold up to someone who has the finances to move us forward, I don't think they would have spent so long here and they money they have just to sell the land now.
  17. While I agree Ripley has been our best player I went for Brian Wilson, just because Ripley should win Young Player, break the clean sheet record, already voted as in top 50 in EFL, whereas the improvement Wilo has made is insane. He was nearly released has become just as important a player as Clarke, he won't win, but felt he deserved to be in the reckoning. YPOS-Ripley Goal-Ryan Mc, as I think it was the only one I saw, all the games blend together this year.
  18. Molonga think that is how you spell it, should not have been anywhere near the pitch. Striker Shez's first season, scored one goal. Budtz, Blanley, Plummer, Rusnak, Reckford, Ngo'o, Rod McDonald, John Thompson, Forbes, Feeney, Parker, Worthington all seem to stand out as poor players. There will be others I am missing too, I'm sure. Honorable mention just because what he put the club through Montano, potentially a good player but a Grad A scumbag.
  19. Tope was excellent when up front on Saturday, him and Erwin for me.
  20. There is obviously issues at the club, and the lack of communication can kind of worrying. Let's not panic I don't think the club will be going under anytime soon, but whether we will be competitive next season is the question. For those questioning the Trust, get involved or stop complaining. I have to defend SC, though, there is no evidence other than hearsay that he is asking for an unrealistic price for the club. There is no doubt he has made mistakes, however, he is not in the realms of Charlton, who have an owner who just doesn't care. He also isn't Chris Moore, while worrying times, now is not the time the hound people out of their positions. We do that when we are in no danger of being wound up, then we urge SC to ask questions of those around him, as well as himself.
  21. This is part of the problem with social media it is so easy to insult people and share it with the world, truth is there are properly just a big as propitiation of idiots at most clubs, their big club arrogance comes from them being a big club for this level. We would be the same if we were in League 2 or lower, as for the match I think it was a fairly even game. It shows how well we did that a draw felt almost disappointing, I wonder if Wilson hadn't gone off at HT if we would have held on, Ripley-made his customary top save or two, he's become so consistently good his performances no longer stand out. 7 Wilson-Making a late shout for player of the season, what a turnaround from him. 7 Clake-Felt he worked really well in the back three and even threw in the odd piece of attacking play, to keep Sharp and Hanson out takes some doing. 7 Gerrard-One moment of stupid play in our box aside, he was solid again. 6 Law-Should of scored, but I think overall he showed he is a good choice as back up for Wilson at RB. 6 Taylor-Some great crosses, and closer to the old Taylor. 7 Green-Where has he come from? What an improvement, easily our best in CM now. 7 Banks-Better but still some piss poor moments, keep improving though and we might have a good player. 6 Fane-Pushed further forward than usual, and looked uncomfortable there, worked hard just lacked any end product. 5 Tope-What a find, he was always a danger, and his goal was the type of finish that we have missed all season. 8 Erwin-Another who has made drastic improvements, no goal, but worked well on and off the ball. 7 Edmundson-Thrown and looked totally out of his depth at first, could and should of done more for their goal. Recovered well, though, he is potentially a very good defender. 5 Ngoo-Wasn't on for long enough, but his job ok. Flynn-Wasn't on long enough, but going off previous performances he is the biggest let down this season.
  22. Just saw the video, it is a nice try from the club. A little late and the usual standard affair, but it is more than the basic poster and stupid slogan so well done to the club. Just as I'm praising the club for a video they mess up with the most basic of things, by not replying to emails. If it was one person, I'd suggest resend as it may be fallen into junk or just missed, but three people just on here is poor.
  23. Fair play, my only question was whether they'd be happy it was posted, as it shows how bad the pitch is, good on them for seeing the funny side.
  24. It can't be easy dealing with an out of date pitch mixed with the weather of Oldham, also I wonder how happy the Groundsman would have been with Ant Gerrard's video he Tweeted.
