Give the personal vendetta a rest mate. Latics lost, hence it was a miserable evening.

To be honest, I thought you meant bad weather too, even though I wasnt there but given context, it was a miserable evening!

Its a nickname for the ground where the team play (real name Boundary Park). It was called that because you would need to wear thermal underwear and at least another 8 layers and you will still be cold.

To be fair to the girls, they have been there in the height of summer... and from the video it looked frigging cold....

.... just think, we have been spending years trying to boost our attendances, and I bet 2 girls turning up from the states will add 500 in an instant....

Beats Simon Corneys hairbrained schemes anyway.... well done worthy...

Offside rule explanation for Girls:

You're in a shoe shop, second in the queue for the till. Behind the shop assistant on the till is a pair of shoes which you have seen and which you must have.

The female shopper in front of you has seen them also and is eyeing them with desire. Both of you have forgotten your purses. It would be totally rude to push in front of the first woman if you had no money to pay for the shoes.

The shop assistant remains at the till waiting. Your friend is trying on another pair of shoes at the back of the shop and sees your dilemma.

She prepares to throw her purse to you. If she does so, you can catch the purse, then walk round the other shopper and buy the shoes.

At a pinch she could throw the purse ahead of the other shopper and, *whilst it is in flight* you could nip around the other shopper, catch the purse and buy the shoes.

Always remembering that until the purse had *actually been thrown* it would be plain wrong to be forward of the other shopper.

But if there is another friend casually leaning against the counter are they interfering with the purchase?

:laught16: That is amazing! I've never fully understood the Offside rule. So are the shoes supposed to be the goal? Can you not be closer to the shoes than the person with the purse (ball)? xx

Here's the Wikipedia explanation:

http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offside_rule

Offside is an offence committed by the team which has the ball and is punished with an indirect free kick. When the ball is played forward, there must be at least two defending players closer to the defending goal line than the attacker about to receive the ball.

But there are some exceptions:

A player cannot be in an offside position if he is in his own half of the field.

From a goal-kick, a throw-in or a corner kick it is not possible to be offside.

If the ball is played by a member of the opposing team, an attacker cannot be offside.

A player who is behind the adversarial goal line, but not in the goal, is not in an offside position. However it is an offense to leave or re-enter the field of play without permission.

If the player is behind the ball when it is played, he cannot be offside.

An attacker who is exactly in line with the 2nd last defender is not considered to be offside.

If a player does not 'interfere with play', then it is not an offside offense even if that player is in an offside position. Generally a player who is 'interfering with play' is one who plays the ball, attempts to play the ball, or interferes with another player's play.

Your explanation with Shoes and purses was far better
