outoftheblue
Have I mentioned my opinion of iPhones yet? Baaaa!!!
latic12345
I have to admit I've noticed the proximity sensor thing now, keep putting it in bloody video mode with my ear! Will try the restore option tomorrow - does that mean I will have to kergigger my settings again? what does it change? There are two options: Reset settings Reset settings and remove data Option 1 should do it. It leaves all the data on the phone (music, apps etc) it just restores all settings to factory defaults and therefore you'll need to change them all back again. It appears to me like a bug in iOS4 where people have restored their iPhone 4 from iPhone 3G / 3GS settings
BlueJazzer
What does your regular usage consist of? Dunno, I never used to check as it wasn't an issue!
Zorrro
I meant what apps do you use every day? How often do you use them during the day?
BlueJazzer
Ah right.... Well, I'm on here a lot. If I'm doing my part time driving job I use the maps a lot to double check when don't trust my satnav! If in on nights I'm probably gimping at porn! And then just general arsing around really.
martjs
Got my iPhone 4 yesterday (with promise of free "bumper" when they have some in stock!). I must be a fanboy cos I love it - miles faster than my 3G... I've read that it's good to let the battery drain before the first re-charge. If true, should I let it drain all the way down? Cheers. Yeah, ideally you want to let the battery reach the point where the phone turns off for the first 3/4 charges and then also do this as often as you can from then on. It's true of all batteries. I always think 'ahh, but I can't risk not having it tomorrow because of X - I'll charge it' (tonight as I'll need the camera tomorrow, for example). But it is for the best and I do try. Crusoe
is that still necessary? I always did the same thing, but Apple's own website doesn't seem that bothered about emptying the battery.

That may be true but the tips on conserving battery life (linky) read to me as "turn off everything you like about your phone"! Ackey
Loved my 3GS... Its pants with OS 4 on it... Defo wont be buying the iPhone 4... iPhone 4 with OS4 is incomparable to iPhone 3GS with OS4. Simply the hardware of the 4 handles it a million times better!
oafc0000
Why is that? Just wondering cos I put OS 4 on my wife's 3G last night... Battery life dies dramatically now... Can only presume its down to the multi tasking.... Also, some of my apps are now crashing...

Ackey
as long as you ignore the reception issues Still not had any. I did have the proximity-sensor problem, but that's been fine since 4.0.1 (and before anyone says anything, that's the nature of any software). dave_ragg1984
Deffo drain the battery fully and do full charge. I did it for my first 3 or 4 charges. Can get 2 days out of my iPhone 4 now, whereas I only ever got a day out of the 3Gs. This signal problem... well I cant seem to replicate it on my phone. Happy days! Stevie_J
Battery life dies dramatically now... Can only presume its down to the multi tasking.... Also, some of my apps are now crashing... latic12345
Regarding the reception issue... Seen it on two phones and one of the happens when held in the right hand... It seems different batches are different... It can only happen when you bridge the GSM and and the Wifi antenna. The GSM antenna runs along the bottom of the phone, the Wifi along the left side. Therefore, if someone has done it using their right hand they are either using the phone backwards or have a strategically placed finger on the left hand side ;-) It's an odd problem. Actually, because its to do with shorting two plates by conducting between them, one of the biggest drivers of whether or not you experience the problem is, bizarrely, how wet your hands are!!!
