I assume I'm classed as a "happy clapper" on here over the years?

Yep. And replace him with, er, erm...

I'm sick of having to make these points every week, but:

1. Those who want PD out - Who do you suggest we replace him? Who would genuinely want to come and manage Oldham Athletic? Most realistic replacements: Another ex-player looking for his first shot at management, á la Dickov, or a run of the mill, mediocre lower league manager á la Moore/Penney. Which would take us absolutely nowhere.

2. He's a young manager, working on an extremely tight budget, with a young squad, and a large number of crucial injuries, who still has us 6 points outside of the relegation zone, with 2 games in hand. We haven't been good recently, granted, but any one who wants Dickov out is, quite frankly, an idiot.

The best thing we can do for the moment is give him time and allow him to build. 1 and a half seasons is not time, despite what some might think.

This.

Thank You. Somebody talking sense. I have no idea what people are expecting when a club with such financial restraints as us loses 5 of its best players to injury. If we were in this situation with 1 or 2 key injuries then fair enough, but the amount we have out you can't go blaming the manager

I understand the frustrations, we've been in this division a long time now and are showing no signs of leaving it in the near future. I think one of the problems we have is that we were successful in the recent past, and so people can't accept that, taking into account our financial situation and attendances, this is our level now, and we're doing well just to be here when you consider some of the similar sized clubs that have dropped down divisions recently (look at Stockport and Luton!).

I honestly believe, given time, and with patience from the supporters, Dickov can build a good side here. Maybe not a good enough side for promotion, but a good, solid, 3rd tier side, playing entertaining football, and possibly laying the foundations for whoever, eventually, takes over from him.

If we're having to have the same argument every week, then something's rotten in the state of Denmark. No?

As you no doubt recognise, replacing the manager (again) is like putting a sticky plaster on a gunshot wound.

The problem lies elsewhere. And until some other fool is prepared to waste his (or her) money on Oldham Athletic things won't change.

Wow Royle would not last long nowadays would he? Time? For goodness sake, we sack him now and we will get what this club deserves.....League 2 football. Our fans don't come because many can't afford, others can't be bothered, our players are young and clearly nervous so what do some of those that attend do? They boo and shout and moan, tell you what next time you're having a bad day at work I'll stand on the other side of the room booing you, and calling you sh!t. Let's see if you become more productive, I think that the opposite is much more likely.

For those that say it is different, you're right it is. Because that would 1 man not 2,000, confidence is a huge thing in football but fans seem to fail to see that despite those who have played the game talking it up. But then what do they know?

While I am not one of the 'Dickov Out' advocates, it does seem to me that there is something seriously wrong with the way we play and the attitude of many of the players out on the pitch - and although you cannot lay the blame for that entirely on the management team (hell the players need to step up)I am starting to question what exactly Dickov and Taggart are telling the players before they cross the white line.

As good a prospect as Tarkowski is, he has to play at a higher tempo and be more alert to the second ball. Mellor is a similar player - seems to lack a yard of pace or any sense of urgency on the pitch. Brown - spends most of the game retreating backwards (a malaise that permeates the entire defence and midfield) and on the odd occasion yesterday when he went for a tackle he actually won the ball..

Defensively, yet again, we looked woeful - yes give Dickov more time but his excuses and explanations are wearing just a little thin don't you think?

Demanding that we sack Dickov is ridiculous. That said, he's not beyond criticism.

We need more of the Dickov who can motivate a team to come back from two down and win at Sheff Utd, and less of the manager who supervises us losing the four games after.

Everything about yesterday was depressing.

Rochdale, FFS - add it to the ever growing list of really disappointing results and performances.....

Was wondering why I've started to lose a bit of interest and stumbled across our Statto page.

Quite damning for PD IMO - not just this season but most of the previous campaign also.

Surely we can't have had many worse calendar years than 2011? Not got off to a good 2012 either but at least that elusive consistency seems to finally be creeping in!

Bad phrasing. Should've been 'everytime we lose'. Doesn't take anything away from my points.

Of course he's inept, didn't you see him shout over to M'Changama and say "Dwell on the ball too long when there is an easy pass on to Brown then lose possession giving the Rochdale lad a clear run through on goal so we can bring his mate down for a penalty".

Brilliant that, best laugh i had all weekend.

My two-penneth for what it's worth....

Dickov was initially a breath of fresh air after what was a truly terrible & dire reign from Dave Penney.. The football we played against Notts County at BP last season was as good as I've seen us play in years & years. if anyonw wants cheering up, look at Dean Furman's Mitre nominated goal of the season goal from that game, awesome.

The frustration has been that as a management group, PD and the others haven't been able get that level of performance on a consistent level; over a prolonged run of games.

PD has brought in some decent players, last season & again this season......and at the odd times this season; we've played some decent stuff and looked a good side

BUT:

By that same token, we have seen some shocking performances, individually and as a team.

IMO he has failed to solve season-long issues on the playing staff front -

Diallo long term injured, Black's season injury hit and yet instead of looking a season long loan of a specialist LB, he's played an 18 yr old kid out of position and has IMO ruined his development as a result.

Furman & Wes were playing well, proper 'yard dog' stuff but; when 1 of them was missing we needed a like-for-like replacement bringing in. What we got was a powder-puff over-rated & underperforming loanee who; being honest, just isnt good enough. Tom Adeyemi isnt good enough; and for PD to have constantly extended the loan time & again throughout the season has been so frustrating. Experienced battling lion was needed.......a woeful Reece Brown was what we got. The CM position has been staring him in the face all season and he's what he's decided to bring in has just been plain wrong IMO.

Kuqi has been dire. Terrible. Shocking. Woeful for months & months. Big whoop he scored a fluke volley yesterday, so what? His performances have been a joke, yet week in; week out he's not only staryed games but has played the full 90mins in all of them. Why? Mates? Stubberness? Contractual obligations? Scared? Who knows.....but it has needed addressing since last November and yet nothing has been done.

PD is clearly doing his best. He's hardly going to making all these blantant mistakes on purpose is he? But - he shouldnt be exempt from people questioning just what the feck is going on, or what has been going on since Nov / Dec.

IMO - he should not be sacked. That would solve the sum total of f-all all told. But, people shouldnt be being chastised for merely beginning to question whether he does have it in him to actually turn this around.

Unfortunately, i have come to what i believe is an informed decision; namely he doesnt. The same mistakes are on show, and the same failiures are there to be seen. He hasn't learned; And isnt learning...........the major problem we have though unfortunatley is that quite frankly, we're not in a position to sod-all about it. Who else could we bring in? Who would want to come? And; what difference would it make really; all told?

I dont think he's got it. Talks a very good game but doesn't deliver on it. But - what else can we do; and who could ee bring in to replace?

We need to stop the rot & ASAP.....but can we? Hmmmmm?????

Not going to knock anyone for having an opinion on the matter but an honest, simple question to those who want PD out.

Who would you bring in as a replacement who

1) Oldham Athletic could afford

2) Oldham Athletic could realistically expect to attract

3) Who could do a better job than Paul Dickov in the current circumstances

Deluded. It's all about money. Piss, Piss poor crowds and no investment. We are in a vicious circle, like one of the seven circles of hell. Who could seriously do any better? You get what you pay and what you can afford -crap. Dickov is not to blame, but he is a convenient scapegoat.

Our budget (or apparent lack of) is also a convenient excuse.

Stevenage, Carlisle, Hartlepool and Colchester are having decent campaigns and yet must have similar budgets to us - if not less in the case of Stevenage?
