FA CUP FIRST ROUND

Recommended Posts

Just one more round before we enter the competiton. Always enjoy a random non league away.

Still a few local teams left Stalybridge are away to Stockport, Hyde at home to Harrogate. FC United got Hereford at home. Altrincham away at Boston. Smallest team left in the competition is a side called South Park. If they got through AFC Flyde away be a good little trip.

Although having met a few of there fans at the Euro Championships if they win there replay and then get through Worcester City away be a good tie. Below is the draw anyway.

Anyone else fancy any particulor team?

For selfish reasons South Park FC away would be good.

All away:

Dartford

Hastings

Bromley

East thurrock

Thurrock

Eastbourne

Ebbsfleet

I never want to go to Thurrock again for as long as I live. Unless the fat red-faced manager is still there to taunt that is.

Purely for proximity to home:

Yate Town - 15 mins

Bath City - 30 mins

Forest Green Rovers - 30 mins

Chippenham Town - 40 mins

Weston-super-Donkey 40 mins

Newport County - 40 mins

Gloucester City - 40 mins

Could turn out all right, this. Not being selfish or owt.

Away at:

1st choice - Marine.

2nd choice - Southport.

3rd choice - Newport.

Marine and Southport because they're near and a bit different.

Always kept an eye on Newport's results from my time in South Wales. Got a good, passionate group of fans, although the stadium is on the circular around the city and there are absolutely no pubs that I know of near the ground.

(Edit - looks like Newport have moved to a new stadium in the city centre, where there's loads of pubs!)

I actually found myself sat at a dinner table with the Chairman of Marine FC and the head of their supporters' club.

Very nice people. Memories of Marine playing at Boundary Park in the 1970s - but I think it was against the reserves.

The chairman's main ambition? Financial stability and a nice cup run!
