GravityGrave
Who's contracted for another year - Montano, Grounds, Baxter? Any others? Wes
GravityGrave
This is the latest, I think: Contracted: Baxter (2015) Grounds (2014) Montano (2014) Wesolowski (2014) Youth offered contracts: Cooper Gosset Simpson Sutherland Believed to have options for another year: Belezika Brown Cisak Out of contract: Bessone Byrne Croft Hughes Jacob Mellor Millar Murray Mvoto Simpson Smith Tarkowski Taylor Winchester I wouldn't be surprised if a couple more have options (e.g. Taylor, Jacob). Taylor - we have an option on
Crusoe
Ta, I've updated the list.
deyres42
Working on the assumed basis that Furman and Smith are already done deals, of the out of contracts I'd keep Brown, Mvoto, Croft, Mellor, Simpson. Would imagine all the under contracts will still be here come August, not sure what the crack is with Cisak in terms of another year option etc.
Crusoe
I wouldn't assume Cisak or Baxter will still be here. Think Cisak will want away and Baxter may be sold to fund other moves.
simplythemostimportantkick
simpson has to go, if Baxter goes we will get good money, so be it ! The 2 most important for me ,but maybe the most unlikely are Croft and Matt Smith . I would offer them both improved deals for 2 years, as i beleive with the correct coaching , and a good pre season these 2 could be massive in league 1 next season. And if we tie them down for 2 years they become more valuable in the transfer window or end of season, depending on how we are doing. sjk2008
IMO, this squad needs a major overhaul. Just because we've (effectively) survived now doesn't mean we should go a little soft on some of the players we would have been happy to see gone in the summer had we actually been relegated. Let's be honest, if we were in Scunny's position now, everybody's lists of players to keep would be a lot lower than they are now. GK I'd have Cisak over Bouzy. But it's a 50/50 call I suppose and I'd settle for either as #1 next season. We wont have both that's for sure. DEF M'voto & Grounds as absolute certainties. Byrne as player/coach (providing he was happy to be back up) Brown & Tarky I'm not arsed either way. Tarky's had enough chances this season to make that position his own and yet still, like Brown, :censored:s me up everytime he takes his 1st touch and always has a mistake in him. I'm just unsure he will ever become a very good player at this level. MID Croft & Wes as certainties. Montano I'd be happy to keep too, as I believe there is something there and tbf to him, whilst he's put in some shocking displays at times, he'd had an injury plagued season. Millar & Mellor should be kept on. They've shown recently that they can play at this level. STR Baxter definitely - no words needed here (unless we got £1m+ for him). Smith can come or go for me. Decent to bring on for 15/20 and does pop up with a priceless goal at times. Not good or fit enough to play 90mins week after week. Simpson can :censored: right off. The rest of the youngsters I'm not overly fussed about. One thing I would like is to keep hold of Korey Smith but that's unlikely. Not seen enough of Bobby Reid either, with Bristol City being in our division next season.

pukka
Out of contract: Belezika - keep Brown - keep Cisak - let go. I prefer Cisak, but looks as though LJ doesn't. Taylor - let go Bessone - let go Bouzanis - keep Byrne - keep Croft - keep Hughes - Let go Jacob - can't comment Mellor - 1 year contract, make or break Millar - 1 year contract, make or break Murray - let go Mvoto - DEFINITELY KEEP Simpson - Definitely let go Smith - Keep, Tarkowski - Keep, something to work on, but like Miller and Mellor it could be last chance Winchester - Let go Furman - Let go Edited April 18, 2013 by pukka
oafcprozac
I'll stick by with what I said, apart from the kids the lot of them can go. We've been getting the bare minimum of what we should expect from the players under LJ. Why haven't we had that all season, and how can they dare to pick and choose as and when they put effort in? Those that want to leave or have indicated they want to leave, please do not stand in their way. That includes Croft, that has caught a massive dose of 'Realism' that he has to put a shift in or he'll be on the scrapheap come the summer. Build a team around lads like Tarky, Mellor and Winchester. Kirk, the jury's out - where has this Kirk Millar been over the last year or so? If we can see that, pace, effort and directness week in week out then yes give him another deal. Smith for me owes us a bit of loyalty, we took a punt on him, he was a complete mard arse for the first 18 months. Manned up under TP's tutelage and has reaped the benefits, however I reckon LJ is simply using him because he has to. I'm not so sure we'll be using a big lump next season. Boozy - If he stays he stays Brown - Jury's Out JYM - Let him go Tarky - New Captain Byrne - Player Coach Grounds - If he's got another year, keep Croft - Go, insulted the fans and the club given his condition up until February Wes - Go, made of biscuits gone missing too often Simpson - Will be first one out of the door Montano - Keep, with a rocket up his arse for more end product Mellor - Keep Winchester - Keep Millar - Jury's Out Belezika - Keep, will develop Cisak - Let the miserable sod go Smith - Owes us loyalty, but will walk Furman - Already gone, but I would have got rid anyway Jacob - Seen enough to see there's plenty to work with - Keep Baxter - Can't see him being here come 1st September…. Don't think Smith owes us anything. Has scored money spinning goals in the FA Cup and the two winners in this last week to get us into the position we are. Now will be his best opportunity to increase his salary in a career that he's started late because of studies. Think he should leave with everyone's thanks and best wishes. Too right. 5 of his 10 goals have either brought us a shed load of unexpected cash or crucial points right when we needed them. What has gone before is moot. slystallone
This squad needs gutting. I'd keep Cisak, Grounds, Croft, Millar and Mellor. I'd also like to keep Baxter, M'voto and Smith but that seems unlikely. I'd definitely bin off Wes, Furman, Simpson, Murray (unless he's wanted on the coaching side), Taylor and Winchester. If better options can be brought in I'd also get rid of Tarky. I'm not really bothered about Bouzanis as I think Cisak's better than him and Jacob sounds promising, although I wouldn't be surprised to see Bouzanis stay and Cisak move on. If LJ wants Byrne as a coach, he'd be a decent back-up option. I'm not convinced by Brown and I think there are probably better options out there, so I'd probably get rid. I can't comment on Montano as I've seen very little of him. All bar Tarky, that's pretty much where I'm at too. It cannot be forgotten that this squad is the one that has seen us in the position we find ourselves - yep; plenty can be levelled at Dickov's door - but, I wouldn't be massively fussed if there was wholesale changes. chris_ktf
I suppose i'm looking at evolution not revolution. I appreciate the players are culpable, of course i do. I just think you can't underestimate how a lot of them were poorly managed for long periods. I think the likes of brown, tarky, grounds, millar, mellor, monty, croft, baxter, could flourish under LJ if keeps his promise of playing the young lads a lot more an having side with pace; that trys to win a game instead of to just not lose! opinions4u
I just think you can't underestimate how a lot of them were poorly managed for long periods. Philliskirk summed it up when he said it seemed they cared less than he does. And the first halves v Bournemouth and Carlisle (under Johnson) replicated what TP was on about. They have been managed poorly at times. But when the new blood has come in they've not been able to deliver beyond a couple of games. Quite happy to let Johnson sweep out the :censored: and start again.

We took a punt on him and earned very well from him in this cup run. He saw his contract out. Has put maximum effort in (whether his erformances have been good or bad) and has given us some great moments. I'll take that from players. If he goes he will get a good reception back from me if our paths cross.I have no problem with players at our level going for money. If smith is on a grand a week at latics and someone offers him £2500 a week - he would be stupid not to take it. That difference dramatically changes his life. It's not like a premier greed player on £80k a week wanting £120k. Edited April 18, 2013 by pukka

oldhamathleticmad
Ideally my first XI next season would be.... Bouzy RB - New CB - M'Voto (Don't think he'll stay though) CB - Belzika - Was really impressive against Yeovil and think he's better than Tarky LB - Grounds RM - Croft CM - Mellor (If fit) CM - K Smith (ideally , think he's class) LM - Montano (needs a full season, been inj a lot this season) CF - Baxter CF - New (smith is off and even if not I still don't think he's good enough to play 40+ games a season)

I was away for carlisle, but endured bournemouth, an your right that first half in particular was beyond belief. Just think we be could be cute with a few of them, (instead of the scrapheap) an they may yet turn out decent.
beag_teeets
My first 11 next season would be Bouzanis Grounds M'voto Tarky ? Montano Mellor Winchester Croft Baxter Smith I'd say at least 4 of these will not be here for that game, I'm happy for Millar to stay, I'd have all the lads who have come through the club to stay to be honest. If M'voto does do we need to sign a Z row specialist to compliment Tarky, A RB to challenge Brown, Croft replacement but as we know, there is only one Lee Croft and we are probably looking at a whole new front line, possibly Millar gets one of these slots. Oafc1895
I'd keep Bouzy Jacob Grounds M'voto Tarky Belzika Bryne (more of a coaching role) Croft Mellor Winchester K smith Baxter Millar M Smith Taylor Barnard(but I doubt he will) That's a base squad and then buy to help that
