Monty Burns
interesting legal argument lightly addressed in this article regarding what a covenant actually is. sums the club up these days compared to corney in that we have these bases covered in advance AND we probably dont have to because relations between club and council are the best theyve been for years. no doubt pushed by Frank being a far more philanthropic good guy than the coin grabbers were. https://www.theoldhamtimes.co.uk/news/23990434.fate-latics-little-wembley-revamp-decided/ Edited December 15, 2023 by Monty Burns forgot the link!! legit
Dave_Og
Would like some more detail. Seems like an essential project if the ambitions for the overall club are to be realised.

At the bottom of the list is the design access statement which gives a good overview of the project, showing plans in 3d imagery. The committee report recommends it is approved and also interesting to note in that report that Sport England had some objections that the club then addressed and satisfied so they now approve also.
nzlatic
I would add that the design access statement is done based on the original set of plans. Looks like some amended plans have gone in so there may be some differences between what is shown on the design access statement and the final approved drawings. So worth checking the latest version of any plan.
kev1970
Wonder if they may finally put the top layer of tarmac on the car park in this as well.
BP1960
There's a real bad slope on little Wembley, I hope that's levelled.

Yes, that’s in the plans that the pitch is to be regraded to remove the slope.

If anyone planned an artificial surface pitch with a big slope they'd need certifying!

bazerx
This is a desperately needed facility for the whole of Oldham. At the moment hundreds and hundreds of kids of all backgrounds, playing for teams based in the town, have to play their home games in places like Ashton, Reddish and Droylsden, because our town has nothing suitable. That is a disgrace for somewhere the size of Oldham. The Council will probably say that the cost has been prohibitive but they seem to find the funds for their crackpot schemes easily enough. The council are, however, involved in this scheme by way of providing funds for the pitch re-furb and the ground sharing with the Roughyeads. As I understand it the pitch upgrade would not have happened without Council assistance.

True about playing out of town but established leagues like Tameside and East Manchester snapped up school facilities to base their leagues at of which there are now plenty in Oldham. Still a much needed facility but hope the club don't have to find the money when we still need the football side sorting out.
