  1. Agreed, but if TTA sue the council what chance will they have in future for possible redeveloment plans being passed or help with another site? In the end Oldham council tax payers suffer not the idiots who sit in the concrete carbunkle surveying their many cockups.
  2. If the new ground at Failsworth goes ahead I would like to know the forecast for extra income other than football? The redevelopment of BP included offices, hotel and gym.I don't see much income coming in from Failsworth apart from the possibility of other sources paying for the four corners to be built, and used by them.
  3. If Rochdale were looking at a new stadium I would agree. It halves the upkeep of the ground, and I don't thing that there is much animosity between the fans. Maybe Rochdale fans wouldn't like it much, because we have always thought of them as beneath us, and now we (metaphorically speaking) are wanting to share with them when we are more or less at the same level. Frankly I can't understand Liverpool and Everton not wanting to share. It's totally different if one club closes and moves in with another, but a brand new ground belongs equally to both.
  4. Not really because they are tied to a fixed contract, although not always the case with the power the top players now have, as is the club. Before Bosman a club signed a player any time they liked, and kept him until they wanted to sell or let go. There was no fixed contract as I remember, but I may br wrong.
  5. This is what EUFA are trying to impose on the Prem. They don't like the fact that Sky has nearly all the rights. I think it's a teriible idea. If we had OAFC TV covering all games live we would be lucky to get a crowd of 1000. You would be watching a match totally without atmosphere.
  6. The Bosman rule freed the players, but ruined football. It's more or less impossible to build a team now at ourt level. Practically the whole squad changes every two years, because either players have done well and move for a better deal, or they haven't done anything and the club lets them go. The transfer windows put another nail in the coffin Clubs now need to have much larger squads than necessary. If they don't, then they have to bring players in on loan who are either raw and learning their trrade, or not wanted by their current club.
  7. I've always said that when you have a 20 goal a season striker, you try everything to keep him because they are few and far between, unless you are extremely lucky in finding one from the youth team. Without such a player we struggle on with the majority of the league. With a decent defence we will finish in mid table. With a leaky defence we fight against relegation.
  8. I wouldn't have either. Lets get someone in on loan with an option to sign if he's good enough. If not bring another in, until we find one that's good enough for us.
  9. Are you on the EU Commission? Keep asking the question until you get the answer you want!!!!
  10. Many clubs have had major problems with their councils, Luton and Portsmouth to name but two who still haven't moved after years if trying.
  11. I've not seen Jacobson play. Hopefully he's as good as Sheehan
  12. We'll have to get past Stam, and Davies will be out to prove a point.
  13. He offers more because he's left footed. We are waisting Taylors talents playing him on the left. He would be much more of a threat on the right. Leeds probably know this.
  14. I'm afraid there are lots of people out of work, and finding £20 for a football match is pretty low down on priorities when people need to feed and clothe their families, and if you are single it's about 1/3 of you weekly income. There is also the fact that people have lost interest, which is not surprising after the start we've had. I hope we are bac k over 4000 on Saturday, and pushing 5000 for the next home game if we keep winning.
  15. I would have thought the contract is with City, and ends when City sell him.
  16. I guess he may go to somewhere like Everton or Villa for around £10m, his contract still has quite some time to go.
  17. I agree. However I think the top two divisions have moved up a level. The Premiership is a whole new division above the one we were in. The Championship has also moved up a level, but not quite as far as the Prem. Leagues 1 and 2 are still the same as they were. Promoted teams to the Prem and the Championship struggle if they don't have the resources to improve the squad. Unfortunately we fall into that catagory and I'm afraid could never survive in the Championship for long. WE need 20,000 people through the gates on a regular basis to have a chance in the Championship, and that's never going to happen even if we had a 25,000 seat capacity ground. The only reason that I think the capacity should be around 20,000 is for the odd cup game where we could cash in.
  18. Another one with a hernia problem. It's got to be something they are doing in training causing these kind of problems.
  19. Could anyone guess the entrance price on the gate at Arsenal vs Wigan at the weekend? I noticed quite a lot of empty seats, which is rare at the Emirates (must have been the Wigan area) I'll put you out of your misery......................... £112 on the gate Birmingham vs Villa last week was £48 and didn't sell out. This game is usually sold out weeks in advance.
  20. Don't know why we signed him. It was and has been for ages a natural left winger we need. Taylor is being wasted on the left, and his value is being held back. Playing on the right I'm sure would justfy a fee of over £1.5m.
  21. I don't think TTA want to keep shelling out until land values get back to where they were. However I hope the Failsworth option falls through in some way.
