  1. I hope he just plays two out and out strikers up top and down the middle. Two out and out wingers out wide. The strikers spend more time out wide than they do i the middle where they can score some goals. This is due to negative tactics as Robinson wants his strikers wide so if or when we lose the ball they can slot in to make a midfield five and stop the oppositions full backs getting posetion and moving forward down the flanks. Two proper wingers should be doing this job in the oppositions defensive part of the pitch with the fullbacks pushed up on the half way line watching their wingers. It does leave things a little less solid defensively but a fullback and a covering centre half should be able to deal with that threat.
  2. The only way that is going to happen is if one of them comes deep to the half way line picks the ball up beats 6 men then puts it away. Strikers need the ball in the final third and need other players around them when they receive it.
  3. The strikers need some service it's that simple. Coventry apart have we had more than 10 efforts on goal all season in one single match? It's boring for the fans to watch and must be almost impossible for a striker to play in that set up with those terribly negative tactics and systems.
  4. Mediocre shots and average saves in my opinion. There wasn't a great save amongst them.
  5. Just order your pint over the phone at weatherspoons in Oldham then collect it from your local weatherspoons. It will save you a fortune?
  6. I thought Kelly was good at breaking up play and getting through a lot of work. To be fair he needed to be as most of his passes went straight to the opposition. Not overly bothered about losing him. He's an average league one central midfielder. If we got 6 figures for him and(big and) the fee is reinvested in the playing staff im pretty happy with that.
  7. You can get 5/1 on shirtliff at present with sky bet. Warren Feeney still 4/6 favourite.
  8. Sorry, I must have been watching a different game. The way we played didn't change from start to finish IMO. We were by far the most positive of the two sides for the full 95 minutes. Didn't see any heads go down and definatly didn't see The Gills dictating play. We could easily have been 3-1 up at half time. Thought the lads were excellent from start to finish.
  9. Again that is absolute rubbish. Are you telling me that the opposition only lose the ball when they've had a shot and the keeper has saved it or he has collected a cross or the ball goes dead over the dead ball line. I'd say for certain possession is more frequently turned over to the other team via a tackle or misplaced pass meaning by your definition at that point you are attacking. You are stating that the keeper has more touches per game direct from the opposition than the other ten outfield players combined.Count how many times a tackle or misplaced pass turns over possession and compare it with how many times the keeper touches the ball. I do watch the game and not just the ball and have a good understanding of tactics and the game of football thank you very much. Your statements are just factually incorrect. Think about it.
  10. My opinion is that's a load of rubbish. The goal keeper starts more attacks than any other player. Yeah course he does for example Everton played West Brom on Saturday West Brom won 1-0 they had 1 shot on target at 2 shots off target. Everton had over 30 shots at goal but didn't score, so by your logic Evertons keeper some how started most of those attacks that lead to a shot on goal from Everton. How?
  11. Here's a thought why not see what the lad is like as a player in an Oldham Athletic shirt. He might not be the answer but he may well be. I've got a funny feeling this will work out just fine for us. Sheridan is no mug and I for one trust his judgement.
  12. I think, they could have bought their own scoreboard if they hadn't cashed Tarkowski's sell on clause in and spent the money on a stand that the football club don't even own. I wouldn't give another pound to Corney and Co because they cannot be trusted. Did we not have a scoreboard fund a few years ago? What did that get spent on?
  13. Pushes more people into the new stand that isn't owned by OAFC is my guess. Its got to be said though I really don't trust Corney and that may well cloud my judgement.
  14. He didn't give a shout though did he, so clear the ball. Funny how dieng and Lafferty both had a word with Wilson and neither with Coleman. Coleman actually stepped out to the left waiting for Wilson to head the ball back to him. Coleman should have shouted but didn't. So if there's no shout what should the defender do. Clear the fooking ball.
  15. If the keeper doesn't shout, clear the ball behind. You get taught that at under 7s.
  16. This☝. If we go down we won't be any more competitive than we are in league one. We can't afford to pay or players in this league so will have to offload most if not all of the current squad(not saying that's a disaster) but they would be replaced with the saddleworth school year eleven captain, a few of Springheads fringe players and maybe one or two youths from the Waterhead Academy with our board of directors. Barry might get down to Alexander park early Sunday morning and tap up a couple of them guys wearing yellow vests that say "community pay back" on the back of them to give us a bit of bite in midfield. I think we would just sink like a stone.
  17. Even if he's sold, nothing will be spent on playing staff.
  18. I really can't say much more, let's just say there is a reason why the new stand isn't owned by Oldham Athletic Football Club and you can't try to sell a club that is legally in administration. Legally being the key word. From my understanding the club isn't solvent its been made to look like it is. I've already said to much.
  19. I think petelatics has some little known knowledge that has been leaked from inside the club. And I believe he is right on the money. We are not legally in admin yet, watch this space.
  20. Chapel road is water logged I know that much.
  21. There's no e in Dunn but there's possibly a Hank Kingsley in it.
  22. Your right it isn't, I don't rember saying it was. Did he play him regularly when he was here though? I said he doesn't fit Dunn's style of play. Are you Dunn's dad or something? I didn't say either of them going is Dunn's fault. Please read the post before jumping to his defence. That's why he plays Jones and Philli out wide instead of natural wingers, its more solid defensively they don't lose the ball trying to beat a man. Get out of his arse man.
  23. Doesn't fit into Dunn's style a player that runs at defenders and loses the ball now and then because he is commiting the opposition defence. Same as Yeats, possession is everything for Dunn, pass the ball sideways don't give it away and have 70% possession and you have dominated the game according to David. Doesn't matter that you have created nothing in the process.
