In recent times both Bradford and Huddersfield have had higher average crowds than us to begin with, even before they tried their respective season ticket promotions. They have also had success on the pitch to complement this which makes it a lot easier to sell to the average punter than an annual relegation battle with dour performances.
RW alluded to this in the piece in the MEN that somebody has put a link to. He said he wants a squad of 20 quality players as anything bigger is difficult to work with. He also said that he’d welcome players who are better than what we have but we shouldn’t just be signing players just for the sake of it.
My main concern with all these unknown foreign players coming in is whether they’re up to it. The club isn’t in a position to be letting unknown quantities cut their teeth. Hopefully there’ll be a few established players coming in to drag us out of this mess.
McLaughlin was in acres of space several times too and didn’t get a pass. When he did eventually receive the ball it was after several unnecessary passes across the middle by which time Plymouth got men back and any advantage had gone. Like you say it was more noticeable with Nepo though.
The pitch looked heavy and is showing signs of turning into a beach again. Looks like we may have to turn more direct at home and grind out results like we’ve had to in the past couple of seasons.
Thanks for replying so promptly. Hopefully Abdallah will outline his plans or vision for the club in the not too distant future. Most of us are still in the dark as to what they are apart from the short term, which is obviously to pull clear from the relegation zone.
I agree, he was useful as a second striker when we had nobody else last season and looked a threat. With regards to crossing, I miss having Eyres with his trickery on the left and Andy Liddell walking up and down the right to ping crosses in.
It was mentioned in another thread that Corney offered him a new deal in the summer when Wigan were sniffing round but he made it perfectly clear he was off when his contract is up.
We shouldn’t be looking to get rid of Davies unless Coventry are offering daft money for him. McLaughlin on the other hand, if Millwall or anybody else are offering hard cash for him we should snatch their hands off. He’s barely featured this season and hasn’t offered much when he has. It took him a while to get going last season too.
What an idiot she is! Sharing a bit of reliable transfer gossip is hardly sharing nuclear secrets with the Iranians. I look forward to seeing a bit of gossip when I read this board. I’m sure most others do too.
Unfortunately I think that’s the only way we can sign players of his calibre at the moment, like with Baxter. We pay them peanuts but don’t stand in their way once the first offer comes in from the big boys.
