  1. For Corney's faults, he did know how to make the right decision and help mould the right atmosphere around the club to get us to safety. Unfortunately with all the shortcuts, and papering over cracks, it left us floundering season after season. When Lemsagam came in, it now seems it really destabilised the mood and atmosphere, and a team of decently talented players (we all saw how well we played for that brief spell, and got giddy for a bit) got relegated. For anyone doubting how a positive atmosphere can boost a team, look to England at the World Cup! It remains to be seen how this season will go, and how our general season-by-season fortunes will change, but after expecting an exodus of our top earners, lads like Byrne Dummigan and Hunt are knuckling down in training by all accounts, and don't appear to be banging the door down to leave as Davies and Duffus seem to have done. I for one will be cautious over trusting everything the new owner does, after both his predecessors left under a dark cloud after making promises they couldn't keep, but as a natural optimist I'll keep the faith. I have a feeling he'll come good.
  2. I think those attacking Davies for speaking out, and his ex teammates for non-verbally agreeing, have their hearts in the right place, but their love of the club is clearly blinding them. We knew a lot of this to be true already yes? If anything he's doing the fans a service to confirm it. I'm sure he considered the negative effects of doing so (mainly putting off potential signings), which is why he's given it a a few weeks, but as someone well respected among his peers, he's felt be should be the one to say something. Hopefully Mr Lemsagam will swallow some pride, learn from his mistakes, and assess best how to act in a manner befitting the custodian of a proud football club.
  3. Looking at something like this kinda lineup in our first friendlies? Keeper (has Placide taken part in pre season??) Dummigan Edmundson Clarke Hunt Fane Byrne Nepomuceno Baxter Gardner Holloway Probably be more of a mix of first choicers, backups and trialists though eh?
  4. Shouldn't be on much, coming from French non-league. If he's any good, great, but I doubt it.
  5. Confirmed that Eden have designed this season's as well. Love Eden's kits.
  6. Sondico at least add a sprinkle of difference to their kits to make each their own thing. And they seem very open to input from the club with certain things, such as the cross marking and BAWA being on these new ones. Indeed in 15/16 and 16/17, Eden Creative designed our kits, and Sondico made them to order. I really like our new ones, think they'll look smart in action. Unfortunately as kits change every year, the best way to go is to have it be a similar design each time, as at least then you have some continuity. Hope we stay with Sondico so we keep getting good, unique kits.
  7. That's just an image they use as a header for news items on the official site, going back to last season.
  8. Always a shame when someone who's been at a club so long leaves. Here's what one fan has said: "This is great for Andy Rhodes (Good luck at Oldham in your new role Andy) but terrible news for SWFCIf you think about the personalities and motivators around the club that we have, Andy was definitely one of the biggest. Not only did he do an incredible job bringing on our keepers as he did, but he's also one of the fellas always smiling, laughing, motivating." Sounds like just the sort of personality we can do with having around. Can't imagine the dressing room was a great place to be in and about in those torrid last 12 games of the season just gone. Sounds like a top man-manager too, could provide an ear to some of the lads if they need it: "All the keepers he's worked with think the world of him. You only have to listen to Chris Kirkland talking about how he was with him when he was suffering with his mental health while still with us." Fingers crossed ay? FB and AR will certainly have plenty of goodwill as long as things are going alright..
  9. Tony Carss, who knows both Latics and Bunn very well, and doesn't sugarcoat things, says:
  10. Don't know why there's so much outrage, history tells us it'll be someone else before the end of the season anyway.
  11. At least we won't have to hear from you ever again if we don't. ;)
  12. Doubt it pal, they'll be in their 60s/70s now. ;)

  14. @underdog Just had an idea. Since the Trust has a good line of communication with Lemsagam, and as you were talking about engaging with the local community, how about we have someone local who has done something good as a guest of the club at some games? I just saw Cec Wright is still taking wickets and hitting match-winning sixes at age 85 (http://www.theoldhamtimes.co.uk/sport/16244736.cricket-legend-wright-hits-winning-six-at-85/) and I thought it would be terrific if we had him down at Boundary Park for a game next season. At other games it could be a young lad who has done something brave, or anyone who's made some sort of positive action. They could say a few words, thousands of people could applaud them, and it would put a smile on everyone's faces before kick off. Relegation has given our pride a bit of a knock, this could help restore it a little, strengthens our place as a community club. Call it something like Local Heroes.
  15. From years watching the highlights, a massive thing that stands out is calamitous defensive errors, followed sometimes by open goal misses. So a right-place, right-time finisher will score for fun, and competent sturdy defending will get you far. Maybe a good environment for our young defenders to develop.
  16. And Preston's Daryl Horgan and Sean Maguire, now both full internationals.
  17. I reckon Charlton beat Rochdale next week and we draw again. But anything and everything can happen on the final day.
  18. Aye, didn't catch on that playoff places were still up for grabs. Helps us.
  19. Nah, "just" a 17 goal swing, so a 9-goal win. Think they'll go for it? Think we should set up to counter attack? Rochdale vs Charlton Northampton vs Latics We need to match whatever result Dale get. One of those probably on TV.
  20. Just realised our game at Northampton is probably gonna be on Sky, has that been brought up?
  21. That's massive. If everything stays the same it's in our own hands next week.
  22. Eeeexactly! There was a vote for our 07/08 away kit too, one of the choices was orange, so of course that one and became immortalised as the kit we beat Everton in. The other choices were grey with navy, white with orange, and red.
