  1. I'd play Winchester, however PD loves his #90minsandout strategy with the youngsters. Fear he'll go for a wide 4-1-3-2 and nulify the effectiveness of OUR JOSE
  2. Are you drunk?! Re-watch that first half and post again. You were watching a different game. The one time he didn't have an option yes he did go back to the goalie, but IMO that showed massive maturity when he could have lost it.
  3. We know the 4-4-1-1 he'll play BUT I'd like to see Smith out as despite him being the out ball it will actually be like handed it back to the opposition as we'll struggle to get runners past him. We need to try and pass it, just like the first 30mins at Anfield and the blueprint for the 4 superb performances this season. Play PD's 4-4-1 but give Taylor a start up top ... more pace, more movement, better style of play and most importantly someone for Jose to look up and find. Dreams ....
  4. Grey Mare is owned by Irish I think and I've heard they're closed to home fans for the game, before and after.
  5. Fantastic player. Equally comfortable in Dowie's 3-5-2 at CH, LWB or CM Good luck Chris.
  6. 8 games with Matty Smith = 6 losses 1 draw and a cup win. No thrust anymore as we lump it up to Smith. We need to dispose of the lad - he is a liability as he stops us doing the things that had some thinking we would be in the top half of the table now after performances at crewe, colchester and the drubbings of Preston and Donny - no Matt Smith in sight just high tempo closing down. That style of play begins up front and without slating him too much, (he seems a nice chap) I'm afraid opposing defenders must love playing him as they can just spread the ball across the back line as he turns slower than Clifford 'the titanic' Byrne. We need someone up top for Jose to thread balls to when he finds those lovely pockets of space - his frustration was summed up against Crewe when he was so fed up of having no movement ahead of him that he attempted a 50yd lob. We need to change the style - the personnel changes are embarrassing at the moment. Taylor on left wing is the final straw. This Notts fan is right & if Chambers thinks out MOM is Smith then that's cos we don't let the ball touch the deck anymore. DICKOV OUT - PLEASE!
  7. Dissapointed for Mellor and Winchester who once again get 90mins max to impress, but happy he's given Smith a partner and brought some pace into the team which we lack without Montano. Wonder if he'll give these 2 longer than 90mins to settle into the team?!! How do we think he'll use Baxter? Sutherland will obv be out wide ... if he goes narrow on one side which FB will be asked to get forward more? - I'd say Grounds who's been far the more consistent, in fact albeit the best performer during the poor run.
  8. technique = class positioning and knowledge of CM position = woeful I know that this will come with time, but his ball watching cost us the game on Saturday, irrespective of how he played. Dickov needs to be showing him the video of the 2nd goal and coaching the lad b/c that was so poor. Changy will be good but like Winchester, Mellor etc. the standard of coaching since PD took over appears to be very low.
  9. Horrific positional sense from Changy for the 2nd - why he got suckered towards the ball I'll never know. He is a very gifted player, but as I've said for a long time he really needs coaching on the positional element of centre midfield, untill them I'd sooner have Winchester in there all day long. Wabara looks disinterested - send him back before Liverpool. He appears really happy to let crosses enter our box and I'm losing count of the number of goals he's cost us recently. Mvoto was shocking for the 1st as well, why did he encroach on Byrne's space? Madness!! We need 3 points desperately 2mro.
  10. Bouzy Lee Mvoto Brown Evina Taylor Stephens Furman Allesandra Kuqi Baxter
  11. he needs more weight on him but has tons of ability. Mellor Changy and Winchester in a solid midfield 3 with Baxter Simpson and Taylor up top for me. Croft needs a break and Smithy too.
  12. Winchester took 30mins to get confident and into the game then looked good either side of HT. The game went when Rosler put their version of Yaya Toure against him and he dissapeared. Changy is too inconsistent and lightweight as well, and constantly needs shouting at where to play. PD why do you keep persisting with Millar??? He's never been a league one player and how on earth is he coming on and playing LWM / CM ahead of Mellor is crazy. Crofty just doesn't do enough either for me. He is almost always treading water 2nd half and PD doesn't see it. On the plus side #josebaxterbaby is here to stay (for now) and at times his first touch and pass were scarily good today. Well done PD and SC on that one!!
  13. Playing him as we did against Donny/Crewe - with no-one getting near him ends up with him trying to play a bit and look a little stupid, as for all his effort he'll never be talented with his feet, and it would be interesting to see whether it's him or Bryne who turns best resemble the titanic. That said, when you play him like yesterday, and get people running behind and looking for his knockdowns you have a great use of his abilities. He needs a goal with his head soon as he could be lethal if Crofty EVER learns to cross from the byeline! But last two games fair play lad. Really good and he's getting there. He needs a bit of schooling by a Steve Howard type player on how to effectively back in to defenders as he is definitely too handsy and instead of backing in he barges in for the side. He can get better but needs people working with him to close down as flogging himself to death up top tires him so much. Well played Matty - more of the same please!
  14. Wasn't good first half but that was because Robbie simply is NEVER a CM in a month of Sunday's and left him completely exposed defensively and provided no natural CM movement when Furman was looking for a teammate. Simply awesome in the 2nd half! Changy finally looked like a CM - sitting but keeping the ball moving without his usual drifting which allowed Furman to be at his box-to-box best. The run for the goal was brilliant and he linked so well with Jose. If changy/winchester can play the Dale Stephens role, sweeping in a passing capacity (ala Carrick) behind a box-to-box Furman you have an awesome CM duo. I have never seen this in Changy untill yesterday (when he was screamed at by TP to not drift) so had always assumed Winchester was the man for the role, either way it really did work Well played captain, enjoy the ACON!
  15. Furman is playing at Forest I think so It'll no doubt be him and M'changama - I'd play Winchester (he may even play Simpson!!) #clueless If Dickov dips into the transfer market for a mantom type player he has lost the plot completely. PD please, please give either Winchester or Mellor a chance - they're not ready cos you never give them a chance or more than 45mins.
  16. Excellent post. Summed up everything I'm feeling right now. He has no clue what to do and when to do it. Smith was on the pitch already so plan B was out of the question. Every man and his dog could see smith, M'Chang and Crofty were shattered after 60mins and the game from our standpoint had gone very stale. I really feel for Dan Taylor, he made a big move coming here and now is so far down the pecking order. Someone needs to explain to PD the purpose of naming 7 subs. He is sucking the life out of our youngsters and youth system (yes I know Taylor is the exception there) and seems so reluctant to EVER take a chance. Relegation looms if he stays. He's the reason we lost 2day not the players who really did put a shift in. Time to go Paul, thanks for the effort and quality of signings you attracted, but both parties need a change.
  17. DICKOV... He said: "There are two things I can do - stick with the boys who won four of the previous five games to last Saturday, tell them their pride has taken a dent with what I have told them behind the scenes and also in the press and go out and put it right because we know they are good players. "The flip side is that I make wholesale changes." -------------- Upset that no-one stood out in the ressies drubbing, especially as Winchester and Taylor have both had belters in the last month but unfortunately at the wrong time (during the good run). IMO Dickov has two major decisions. Up front and central defence alongside Mvoto. At the back Byrne is gonna be a doubt. I can only see PD sticking with the Wabara at centre back idea which despite the good run has serious limitations. Yes he is fantastic on the ball giving us a ball carrier from the back, but for 15mins against Donny and all 1st half against Swindon the Wabara/Brown combo at the back post looks very worrying. PD has gradually reduced the 1st team opportunities for Mellor,Winchester etc, and now appears to be looking to do the same to Tarky, who has done nothing wrong with the limited opportunities he has been given in the last 2 months - at Crewe he was outstanding. Why PD thought to bring on Brown on Saturday is beyond me, meaning effectively 2 new players (positions) just 15mins into the match. I would love to see Tarky start and reunite Wabara with Crofty on the right. Up front in place of Derbyshire its likely to be a 50:50 call I would think in PD's head. Smith is most likely IMO to play with Baxter, but that style of play would detract from all the good stuff we did against Donny and Colchester. Simpson would lend better to the passing approach but means we would have 2 'forwards' as oppose to strikers. I would actually plump for the young Geordie Taylor who has just scored 5 in 3 for the reserves, hasn't been given a chance to impress yet, and is the most like-for-like replacement for Matty D. This is hopefully what Dickov means by "make wholesale changes". My XI would be... Bouzanis Wabara Tarky Mvoto Grounds Croft Furman Wes Mellor Baxter Taylor but I think PD will play Brown, Montano and Smith.
  18. must have been on his xmas jollies last night. out of interest have we even been in the top half?
  19. Either leave out Montano or play him left back Croft, Wes and Furman in the middle and ask full backs to bomb on baxter in the hole for Smiths knockdowns and derbyshire reading the fiick ons 4-3-1-2
  20. Never been given a run in the side/squad, and always the scapegoat during poor performances... Stevenage, Sheff Utd last year (Adeyemi and Reece Brown were also horrific in CM). Unsure why PD seems so keen to suppress talent like Carl Winchester. The lad has the most natural skill at the club after baxter, he's exceptional on the ball and clearly just hasn't been probably coached since he left Philliskirks set-up. We really need to make the most of his ability (like Mellor). He is a better option in CM than Simpson or Changy.
  21. worked his socks off. Montano (who I like) is really struggling either physically or more likely mentally for some reason. I would play Crofty narrow with M'Changama and Winchester next week w/o furman and wes and play Smith with Derbyshire and Baxter off the two of them.
  22. yes but you're far from being alone in that hope I'm sure!!
  23. Based on the quality they saw I would agree. We have some top players and obviously have given them more of a game than other teams this term that are much higher up the table. Yet there is quite clearly something missing. Dickov for me is the problem. Dropping Baxter back made him completely ineffective. Montano looks so lacking in confidence why on earth didn't he come off for Smith and play Baxter off the 2 of them. Crofty stays narrow which he likes to do anyway and all those flick downs suddenly fall to Jose not space. I know it's a recurring debate and we all fall on one side of the argument but he just isn't tactically where he needs to be and gets little or no help from GT. I think the time has come - Corney is obviously getting frustrated.
