  1. In the original plans (having everything open and working) the only entrance available for the away fans was going to be via the car park
  2. It's not a lack of ability, it's a lack of any ability. I hate Jimmy Wagg - so frustrating the way he channels questions. We were discussing the merits of one of our worst footballers since Guy Branston a minute ago - appaling.
  3. Why is he filling in at CM ... surely Jones, Winch can do the job in there with Kelly.
  4. Doubt they can afford to offload 'nice-guy' Holden. Especially after parting with Kelly.
  5. Except the seasons best performance to date at Walsall. Hmmm. I like the lad and think he's been doing a decent job in the absence of Kelly in CM, particularly at Bury. However, he shouldn't be picked in the midfield ahead of the current crop and with Higdon up, we're gonna need pace around him, which DP simply doesn't offer.
  6. Did Forte miss a penalty or two last season (maybe in a shoot out) - he was getting closer to missing each time. I know DP did miss one at Gillingham. Kelly took an excellent penalty in the shoot out last season and is our most confident player IMO.
  7. 4 of which were penalities? My opinion early in the season was that he was a good finisher in a hot patch and rarely saw him play that well throughout the matches (not a bad thing while he's scoring, but was a problem when he stopped). I struggle to remember to many occasions when he was 'immense' early in the season.
  8. I find the 'Forte scores his goals from the left wing' a little bit of a myth. He played his best football last season up top with Jabo IMO and his goals playing off the last man against Sheff Utd away and Cov at home were superb. I often feel he is lazy on the left wing. Don't get me wrong he does track back but what I mean is he is lazy in wanting to be involved and make himself available for possession, going missing for long periods in the game. At times in the first half on Saturday his movement attempting to get behind their back four was excellent. Up top alone he will tire by the 60th minute and I do think he needs to be up front with a big man, however I don't subscribe to the idea he is league one's best left winger. Yeates is a good signing. Excellent at Colchester a few years back earning him his time in the Championship. We have more strength in that midfield than we have had in years and really need to take advantage of this.
  9. Coleman Dieng Wilson Burn Mills Kelly Jones Croft DP Yeates Forte Is what I think we'll see. I'd play Winesta instead of Croft and Dunn for DP.
  10. Can Dunn play in a 4-4-2? Barring Cassidy, which of our strikers are dangerous from crosses? To play 4-4-2 we are basically admitting that Green and Dunn were wasted signings. The formation can be played better and relies on forward runners, particularly from FB positions, which is difficult when both are playing their first games in that position. Winchester MUST come back in at Bury, possibly for DP and play Jones central.
  11. I think the injury to Mills could be a blessing as Dieng could be the answer to our RB troubles. Linked the game well. Gave a passing option coming forward and always wanted the ball. Granted he didn't make the byline but put in enough good crosses. He is also a very good defender and, like Kusunga, will benefit from being away from the centre of the defence where a mistake is so much more costly. Excellent in the air, which is vital in an otherwise small side. Mills back in at LB and we have a superb looking back 5.
  12. Fleetwood scored 8 since they failed to score against us and Walsall won all 3. As a new manager, I'm quite happy to see him build from the back - he is understandably a little cautious at this point. It was miles better than the hoof ball tactics against Fleetwood. The main stand was a horrible place to be at FT. Lets just take stock here ... we are unbeaten in four games and the crowd are booing and shouting for the manager to go. Unbelievable Jeff.
  13. I thought first half, particularly first 30 minutes, the tactics worked really well. Couple of very close calls on offside and we must have been at 60-70% possession. Without Cassidy, and without a like-for-like replacement, we need to play keep ball and use the deck a lot more which is far from easy when you have 2 up top. Winchester should be starting, that's a given, but I couldn't grumble with the starting formation. At 1-0 he was about to bring on Winch for Croft and then had to make a reactive substitution and it was probably the time then to give a tiring Forte a partner. DP should have come off instead of Jones but the change was 10 minutes too late to have an impact. However, the timing of the goal didn't help DK's decisions. Listening to two callers of GMR depressed me greatly. I hate how so many of our fans are waiting for Kelly to fail, and have been since he was appointed. Do I think he is the new messiah? No. However, surely as fans of this club we should be backing the manager this early in the season and especially given we are still unbeaten in the league. I really fear for DK on Monday night if the likes of those on GMR earlier ring up. It is a flawed assessment, especially someone wanting to leave after 30 minutes, when we were in fact controlling the game against what turned out to be very decent opposition. As a final point, booing Connor Brown for passing the ball when in an advanced position to a more creative player (when 1-0 up mind) is a horrendous way to 'support' your club.
  14. For me Winchester has to come back in, especially without a target man if we have to play in on the ground and keep possession. Keep the back 5 the same. If Kelly is fit a midfield 5 of Croft, Winch (right and left), Kelly, Jones and Dunn Forte up top but will need the support of the 4 'attacking' midfielders. There was a clear difference between DP and Turner reading Dunn's throughballs and then Forte's reading of Dunn's passes - The ball over the top into channels plays into Forte's strength and there are 6 clever/experienced footballers in the front six there. Possibly harsh on DP but barring the goals he isn't contributing enough.
  15. 20% on the part of his transfer fee which exceeds the fee Brentford paid us. If it was 250k then we'll get 950k of the 5 million!
  16. Tysons foul on Rachubka for the first goal was even more blatant than any of his other errors.
  17. Terrific cameo. Didn't think he'd last 5mins watching him warming up at HT. Obviously needs to shed a few and get match fit but he will be scarily good at this level. The ball stuck to his feet at times. Hoping he can really help Winchester develop his game by become a little more direct and chipping in with more goals and assists (although his low cross in the second half was as good as I've seen in ages - can't believe neither striker anticipated it).
  18. He was given so few chances and then thrown in alongside other 'cold' players against Preston (JPT) before being ridiculed in the press by that little weasel. Class in pre-season, scores a stunner against Swindon and was a major part in the thrashing of Coventry but the first to be left out - didn't get a run all season. We're crying out for some natural width, especially given brown and Wilson are our only 'crossers'. I can only guess that he can't be recalled. Shame.
  19. If his plans don't involve our Carl his opinions aren't wanted here! Getting better and better this lad.
  20. Wish players would react like Pointon did there. Amazing that the commentators said it was definitely worth a yellow - how times have changed!
  21. Are the club in talks with our Carl about an extension? Outstanding at times this afternoon - haven't seen another midfielder in this league who glides like he does and we're seeing an end product! Great goal at Fleetwood. His run for the nails on Poleon pen was outstanding and the run, back-heel and step over for the 3rd was class - best team goal since Furman-Allesandra-Bembo? On a side note - Bolton signed two new strikers as well as Gudjonson and Heskey - possibly Connor is the one he is holding out for? Proper coup that would be!!
  22. Stunning close control. Wish he'd put the chance away in the 2nd as he deserves a goal for his performances this year. Loved him owning Wellens a few times today and in the cup match. Contract offer? How much better were we with the narrow diamond / pre-DJ formation - keep with it LJ!
