  1. Tbf I remember similar crowds vs these in the 80s 4000+ blues there too Wellens winning s few back. watch Corney and co fuck the good feeling up by appointing Pablo Tommy Teacake. give Wellens the job Simon stop pissing about give the lad a go.
  2. Sorry mate it was yours if you’d replied hope you got sorted as that was one of those days why we do it! ?
  3. Looking at a Stuttgart and Hoffenheim double header later this month. I wanted to go to Milan v Juve but the flights are cack
  4. Swapped my ST today into the main stand and they ballsed it up. Upshot is they swapped my ST for a complimentary for my OWN seat. They then actually allocated me a seat in the main stand. They said keep both tickets and give the spare to someone. If you want it DV meet you outside the old club shop at 2.30 you can have it Gratis for the North Stand leaving my house at 1.25pm
  5. Opposition find it hard keeping abreast of their movements.
  6. Considering Maine Road tonight Did Trafford and Altrincham last week Previously over last few weeks done a fair few non-league including Salisbury with Latics. Most random recently was at end of last season where we saw Fisher FC win 10-1 the day before we played at Wimbledon. Currently on 160 grounds inc Isle of Man
  7. The first three games if we get anything I'll be delighted. Bradford I tipped to win the league this year and they took the Dongs apart at weekend and are right in there. Bastard Rovers haven't lost here since '89 and our record at the Dongs is woeful a true bogey ground, 6+ Points is realistic we've struggled so far that's why we're 19th. We've seen big improvements recently but we won't become Real Madrid over night. However with Double D upfront we're a threat against anyone and we'll give all 5 teams a game and knowing Latics there'll be a couple of surprises in there. And that'll be at least 12 points from 7 games - Play Off form over a season...
  8. I rolled my eyes when Wellens was given the role albeit temporarily but he's winning me over. He immediately changed the shape v Peterborough in moving Bryan into the back line, He was brave enough to break up the increasingly chuckle brothersesque partnership there and brought in Placide who Sheridan didn't rate. Fane has been a revelation under his stewardship too despite the many comments on here that Wellens doesn't rate him. Clarkey's ego has been massaged and now he's the main man with a confident keeper behind him he looks more like his old self. There's a can do mentality within the team and we are getting at teams with the ball and hunting in packs without it, we suddenly look a good side. However, the three players that sparked an improvement v Charlton Byrne, Doyle and Bryan were all Sheridan signings - he had the tools but didn't make the adjustments around them. Wellens for me gets at the very least until the end of the month - that's:- Blackburn (H) Bradford (A) Dongs (A) Bury (H) Scunny (H) 6 Points + from that lot surely he has to get a go? Much better than El Pablo Tommy Teacake that no one wants or has heard of. Even Wellens' subs have been intelligent so far and have helped to close games out. To score two goals with ten men shows that RW is no Kelly, Dunn or Robinson. Give the lad a go....
  9. Went to Altrincham v Rushall decent day. Singer pre match San Miguel on tap and a decent portion of pie chips and curry. Tbf there’s a few of us been bitten by the ground hopping bug so that’s my 10th new ground already this season after Salisbury Liversidge Atherton Collieries West Didsbury and Chorlton Santiago Bernabeau St Helens Town Trafford FC Altrincham Abbey Hey Cheadle Town inc Latics matches that’s 23 for the season and 86 goals so far!
  10. I miss the Colchester and Brentford years...
  11. Are you watching a different game to me Andy? Gerrard didn't put a foot wrong yesterday all the problems came on Clarke's side awesome last season poor this there's no room for sentiment. Hopefully he'll improve over the season as he learns to trust Ruddy I'm of the belief he's slowing down and over compensating for not having Ripley behind him. Gerrard started the season slowly but the last few times I've seen him he's been a dominant force.
  12. So what's Ruddy done wrong exactly? yes Wilson was shit, we replaced him. The elephant in the room remains, the fact that Clarke's legs have gone. He was awesome last season but Ripley was digging him out of the shit every week. This year he looks every bit the old man. He was awful for that second goal yestday but people focus on a kid in goal that looks decent and whether Gerrard is overweight or not. The problem in defence is our captain. Edmundson hasn't great either but he gets some slack he's a kid. I'd bring Stott in once he's fit.
  13. Not quite a 1000 but well on the way 20 full seasons 20 x 46 = 920 inc this season today is our 928th consecutive league game in the third tier...
  14. The issue here is not the start to the season it's the fact we're on the same merry go round into oblivion and the ride gets faster every year. As Mark's article states the SD deal and the new stand were going to make us competitive - what's changed? We have an owner who expects us to be grateful for aiming for 20th year after year. i think he'd sell at the first opportunity if Blitz would let him but somehow he expects to get his loans back. The sooner he realises he won't the sooner we can begin to move forward. However the only way out of this mess imo (unless they sell up) is houses on the whole of the site at BP with us in non league and if we have the same owner in 5 years time that's where we will be.
  15. Remember when we raised 5 figures towards a scoreboard but were told the new sooper dooper advertising boards could do the job? then they don't turn the fucker on?
  16. November 1980 he was Stainrod's replacement he broke Gemmell's record in April 1989 he went in to score 146 in all comps
  17. 87/88 we had no sponsor until a one off sponsor was found for a highlights appearance v Leeds United in R3 replay of the Littlewoods Cup on Sports Night. 'Health First' was the sponsor Alan Hardy found at the last minute. The next game we reverted to no sponsor. from the Spurs FAC game in January we acquired Martins Motor Group until the end of the season.
  18. If McLaughlin is to be sold I have no issue as long as we get the going rate AND the money is reinvested we've not suddenly become a club where the chairman shits fifties so wheeling and dealing is fine by me as long as it bags us that midfield orchestrator and a decent keeper. People have short memories he was very hit and miss last season. When he's good he's good but he can be equally anonymous. Does Shez want to play with out and out width? I'll back the club in what they decide to do and if the figures being bandied about are true it's a no brainer. maybe McLaughlin was the player watched by the two stoke scouts at Curzon last week?
  19. Is that Harvey with the big moustache? If so knew him quite well about 20 years ago. Sad news RIP 'Primitive Man' as we used to call him.
  20. Blayney Hazell Charlton Futcher P Branston Gill Whitaker Mini Shez Ernie Ritchie Hughes
  21. Last game for me until Burton. Pre season has been steady if a bit unpsoectacular and tbf that's how it should be. Goalkeeper and defensively we looked a bit shaky, the midfield was woefully short both of anticipation on loose balls and penetration. Game woke up second half and fawns took care of the bell better in the final quarter. Up front we looked a threat. The keeper situation is a worry with less than two weeks to go we don't even have a number two. Keeper: Shot stopping reasonable, positioning and presence all over the shop. Dummigan: working his way back to fitness Clarke: at about 50% of pace so far a couple of goals this week have been caused by hesitancy from him, AG and the keepers. Gerrard: Vocal cajoling his younger mates throughout. Looking sharper than he has probably since his first loan spell in 2015. Hunt: Neat and tidy, have to say I didn't really understand the fuss when he signed even though he played 10 games last season didn't massively notice him. What I did see today is a lad not afraid to tackle and who keeps the ball. McLaughlin - thought he was superb at Curzon - much quieter today Banks - I've not been as harsh on him as some but on today's showing he's not a starter. Only a friendly I know but his lack of interaction when we haven't got the ball is costly. Fane - poor first half but I thought he ran it second half with his probing runs obadeyi - awful and confirmed by Shez shouting to him after about 35 mins 'Tope fucking liven up' Holloway - looking far fitter and sharper than he has done. A real handful. AND encouragingly in the box more. Davies - not the player he was still a handful but throughout pre season it's just not come off for him. Jury's out so far having seen him in 3 games so far but we know how brilliant he can be. Subs: Fawns - really like this lad and I hope he has a big role to play this year. Skilful and a real eye for a pass. Duffus - got straight at then from minute 46. Deserved his goal and linked well with Davies. Edmondson - really like George but he's looked nervous throughout pre season. Looked calmer avd and more assured alongside Stott yesterday . Stott - really rate this kid, big, strong good on the ball. Our next undisclosed fee I reckon. Triallist - LB steady and unspectacular Flynn -petty anonymous
  22. I don't remember a 'fuck the IRA' flag in the 1980s -although the song was equally embarrassing. theyll have that flag confiscated by the police first friendly at BP might as well have spent your money on good whiskey lads. if you were old enough to drink that is...
  23. I wouldn't write us off though Corney's merry band of agents are pretty loyal to him and he has history of pulling off the occasional coup. Very much an outside chance I reckon...
  24. Apparently Peterborough are in for him I've just heard willing to pay all his wages and a loan fee. bugger...
