  1. Good riddance to McLaughlin. Too injury prone and hasn’t justified his wage
  2. Last season was his first proper season given he got injured at Bury. He won’t want to drop to League 2 so no doubt will wait and see who comes in for him and take it from there. In the unlikely event that no-one comes in for him then he would rather be here than playing EDL at City. I’d guess until January and then a higher club would come in for him
  3. He does plenty. He helps us retain possession for longer periods of time as he links up with the midfield well and they trust him with the ball. Hunt for example is nowhere near as comfortable, always seems rushed and is a worse crosser of the ball yet the general consensus seems to be that he is better than Dummigan
  4. Dummigan is class going forwards, admittedly not the best defensively but we missed him badly last season after he got injured. Retains possession well, is skilful and gets up and down the line well. He he would be a big miss if he goes and we wouldn’t replace him with anyone as good
  5. Massively underestimated on this board is Gardner
  6. Stop talking utter rubbish. Byrne collapsed to the floor at full time. Wouldn’t do that if he didn’t care. Holloways hands were on his head when his shot was cleared off the line. Youre talking nonsense
  7. A joy would be to see Byrne and McEleney both play in the final 3rd behind a main striker, hopefully Doyle. Also to see Hamer, Edmundson and Stott flourish in a back 3 as part of a 3-4-3 Chelsea style formation. Dummigan and Nepo to provide the width and Gardner and Fane in the middle.
  8. Gary Harkins is in unbelievable shape as well, slimmed down a lot. If he’s done that 5years earlier he might have had a better career
  9. Watching Tom Hamer and George Edmundson for half a season before they get snapped up for undisclosed fees are Christmas
  10. WAS. I don’t doubt he was good in his time but the game has moved on. The football back in the day was a lot slower with crazy dangerous tackling and a bloody heavy ball. Players diets were terrible. I’d say BP’s judgement has been on the wane for a good number of years. How anyone can criticise Doyle is baffling. To score as many as he did and even to miss as many chances as he did (good enough to be in the position in the first place) in a relegated team who only played decent football for a quarter of a season is remarkable.
  11. He probably doesn’t want to play for us based on our style of football the second half of the season, no-one would. He did play for Portsmouth in League 2 last season
  12. Holloway’s flick to Doyle for the spectacular volley is enough for me. Davies is old and despite the goals(penalties) he wouldn’t be one for me. Hollloway has the technical ability to link with Gardner,Byrne and McEleney, Dummigan who are contracted to be here next season. Davies doesn’t.
  13. Dummigan has the potential to be a right winger in my eyes, tackling isn’t his strength, going forward, dribbling and taking people on is. Would enable Hunt to be RB although I don’t really rate him and Hamer could continue to learn his trade at centre back alongside Edmundson. If we keep them I don’t see how Byrne and McEleney can play in the same team
  14. If you dig out those videos that made out we were like Brazil and watch the extended highlights from that run we had before Christmas you’d say it’s impossible we ended up in the position we were in.
  15. Potentially a fair number of recent ex players to welcome back to BP next season: Forte, Kelly, Winchester, Alessandra, Robbie Simpson, Eardley, Jones, Ibehre.
  16. It's getting to that time again, so going off previous posts: Contracted for next season Placide De La Paz Gerrard Edmundson Hamer Hunt Gardner Kyeremeh Byrne McEleney Maouche Davies Holloway Duffus Likely to have options taken Dummigan Mantack - sympathy contract Nepo Loans expiring Bryan Benyu Doyle Nazon Contract up and likely to go Brian Wilson Moimbe - although i'd keep him if he's cheap. Obadeyi Omrani Fane - dependent on who you speak to. McLaughlin - big wage and injury prone Would love to see Doyle stay but will he given the style of football we've been playing recently? Hopefully he'll have been forgotten about and we have a chance of keeping him if we stay in League 1. The defence should be built around Edmundson in my eyes, improving bucketloads every game, becoming more composed on the ball, aggressive and vocal. Would love to see Scholes-Beard in and around the first team too, could be our Oztumer
  17. I’d be keen to see Moimbe and Nepo down the left hand side together. Natural width and an element of protection. Gardner looked in a bad way on Saturday, be gutting if he’s out. Byrne tore these a new arsehole last time round so I’d still start him, throw him in the middle and stick Tope out wide
  18. Didn’t he like the tweet when Wimbledon went a goal up? I wouldnt have him back
  19. Farcical that Holloway hasn’t come on. Our best player at holding it up.
  20. Anything but exposed as a full back, the amount of slide tackles he put in last night was mad. a bright bright spark in an ever darkening season
  21. Think he would have brought Nazon off earlier if it wasn’t for the fact he’s scored our last 2 goals. The guy only plays for himself. the pitch last night looked great yet we were so far removed from the team who was pinging it around for fun and stringing 20passes together for goals that there’s definitely something up. The logic behind Wellens decisions makes sense so I’d still give him the pre-season and see what he brings in and how we start. There’ll be no Nazon, no Bryan, Gerrard won’t be a starter. Its just scary to think of the French lads who can’t get a look in on 2year deals and what Abdallah’s take is on them being left out week after week (which I agree with). Will he bring a puppet in who he can control? Mick McCarthy would do for me
