  1. They might have handled the Evans saga badly, but we'd be in such a worse position if we had signed him before LJ left. I agree we might be in a position to appoint another decent manager, but we wouldn't if Evans was here IMO
  2. Good read, and pretty much sums up where I'm at. He didn't stay long enough to be remembered like he could have done, all he's done is point us in the right direction. Hopefully Corney realises that and makes the right appointment to carry on what Johnson's bailed on.
  3. I think he probably deserves respect because of the direction he's pointed us in. But that's all he's done. If he'd stayed another year we might have been realistically looking at promotion, but because he obviously didn't want to stick around he also doesn't deserve any outpouring of thanks and respect. Especially only two weeks after he left. It depends what he says in the build up to the game, but I don't think there's any need to have a go or chant his name. Hopefully we'll have another manager in place by then to overshadow him.
  4. Best name on that list is Steven Pressley. Although the atmosphere for schole's first few games would be top.
  5. Scholes would jump ship as soon as things got anywhere near tough.
  6. Wonder if that Pressley bloke wants a quick return to management? It always seemed like the behind-the-scenes stuff at Cov would hamper any manager and he did alright there. He'd probably be on a fairly decent wage though.
  7. If it's possible, I'm definitely putting a tenner each on Liam Kelly and Carl Winchester going to Barnsley in the summer.
  8. Paul Murray wouldn't be a terrible choice. Knows the team fairly well and wasn't given a fair chance at Hartlepool who look doomed anyway. He'd probably not take another season to make the squad his either, given that he'll have had a part in bringing most of them to the club. EDIT: I'd still want someone like Tommy Wright as his assistant for a bit of experience.
  9. Results definitely gone our way. Donny 1-3 Bristol City PNE 1-0 Walsall Dale 1-2 Sheff U Scunny 0-1 Barnsley Swindon 2-1 Bradford Still 2 points off the play-offs, with only Dale having a game in hand over us.
  10. Disagree. Technically, of course it will always be an allegation, but it was tried and he was found guilty. If he wins his appeal it'll be fair to call it an allegation again. We'll never know if he did it or not, but he's been found guilty twice. For Barry to describe it as alleged, it implies he thinks Evans isn't guilty, that's why it's a poor choice of words for a former police officer and club director to use.
  11. It's irrelevant now if 'alleged' has no bearing on the outcome of a trial, because the trial found him guilty, and then he had an appeal rejected. That makes him guilty. The crime was alleged, and then two separate processes decided it happened. Barry's choice of words was poor. It's not his place to decide if Evans is/was guilty or not.
  12. "I dont pretend to excuse Ched Evans for his activities, I deplore what he allegedly (due to the appeal process at the moment) did, said Owen." It's not alleged, Barry. He's been proven guilty. The appeal process just means it could be overturned, not that he's suddenly innocent again just because he's fighting it. That's from a former police officer too. What a moron.
  13. If I scored against Latics I'd take off my shirt to reveal a personalised Latics shirt underneath and act as if I'd scored for us. ...and then I'd probably wake up.
  14. No chance any compensation would finish the stand AND get Adkins. If Johnson goes we'll get his dad.
  15. Mark Cooper Approached according to BBC. Sheridan also linked.
  16. Realistically the earliest us or Barnsley would be promoted is the end of next season. If he stays here, I'd say we'd have as much chance of promotion next year as Barnsley. It'd be a definite sideways move, and he doesn't seem like the type of person who'd be up for that. EDIT: Latics & England has just put it far better than I have.
  17. We won three in a row but with the JPT win against Bradford inbetween the Donny and Fleetwood league wins. We've not won 3 in a row in the league yet, but we have gone 4 home wins in a row against Sunny, Walsall, Cov and Bradford.
  18. Highlights 2nd successive home game we've scored 2 in a minute. Great stuff.
  19. We've got 4 points from Swindon this season, and been hammered 7-0 by MK. I know who I'd rather face.
  20. PNE win, they've got 4th spot pretty much sealed up and will fancy a late push at automatic. I'm not too bothered that we're back down to 7th. We're competitive this season but can be fairly complacent, so something to push for isn't a bad thing.
  21. Winchester's made the Football League Team of the Week. Successful weekend all round.
  22. Apart from on a cold Tuesday night in Barnsley. Shouldn't complain though, we're in the play-offs. I'd have snapped your hand off for 6th in February back in August.
  23. Could have easily given a penalty against Mills in the second half, though.
