  1. 7 seasons, 200 games, 30 goals, hardly prolific............................Oh, and the Titanic could turn quicker!!!!!
  2. Doesn't seem the case if you read the following sky sports report!! Hartlepool director of sport Chris Turner believes he has too many strikers at the club. The Pools boss is preparing his charges for the new League One campaign and has no fewer than seven front men in his ranks. But Turner feels that number is too high - and admitted he is looking to ship some of his strikeforce out on loan in order to gain first team experience. Denis Behan, Armann Bjornsson, Adam Boyd, James Brown, Billy Greulich, Colin Larkin and Michael Mackay will all be competing for starting places at Victoria Park this season. Too many But some of the United attack are only likely to be fringe players, though, and Turner said he was keen to arrange temporary moves to lower league clubs. The 51-year-old told the Hartlepool Mail: "We have got too many strikers. "It is difficult when you have got these pre-season games to give all the strikers in the squad some minutes. "The loan market is an avenue we will explore in the coming week or two, trying to loan people out to League Two and below to get them regular football."
  3. Yes he was..............if it wasn't for Alex Higgins snooker would have died as a televised sport a long time ago!!! Not everyone's favorite but a great entertainer on the green baize. R.I.P
  4. Er...........Yeh!!!! They may have initially rescued us from oblivion for which we should be eternally grateful, however, their decision making since, on just about everything you care to mention has been catastrophic!!!! OMBC can take much of the blame, however, if Simon Corney followed suit and sailed off into the sunset could we honestly say we are in a much better position than we were 7 years ago!!!
  5. This whole scenario has happened very quickly indeed. No Latics cash crisis – Corney Reporter: MATTHEW CHAMBERS Date online: 12/05/2010 Director scotches administration and pull-out rumours ATHLETIC managing director Simon Corney has denied that the club is about to be placed into administration. Quote.......Crippling financial losses during a season of drastically low attendances at Boundary Park have led to worries over a potential pull-out by the three owners Corney, chairman Simon Blitz and Danny Gazal. Rumours have also abounded that players did not receive bonus payments owed to them in last month's wage packet. But Corney reassured fans that the trio's commitment to the club is strong. We either have some new investment looming or there has been major differences behind the scenes...Let's hope it's the former!!!!
  6. The statement says they have left.........where does it say they have handed over their stakes for free?
  7. Was the resignation of Mike Newton due to the impending Gazal and Blitz bailout and would this have been declared to Paul Dikov during his interview? Has the dummy been thrown out of the pram during a major disagreement between the directors or has this been coming for a while....in an interview on LW only a few weeks ago TTA stated that this club was in a much better position than the majority of the division and there was absolutely no chance of this club going into administration.....I hope this is still the case!! I'm hoping that all this is because a Wardle type is preparing to move in because if not I don't see how it will be possible to keep the club afloat without the financial input of the leaving amigos!!!!
  8. 158 appearances and only 36 goals (28 for Barnsley 2004-2007) in the last 7 years ....hardly prolific and he's usually injured for most of the season!! Clubs weren't exactly falling over themselves to sign him up.....too much of a gamble and with such a poor fitness record I'm glad we stayed clear!!
  9. The one where Robinho used to post!!!!
  10. Anyone know what happened to OAFC Message board....it seems to have dissappeard!!
  11. And if Dikov get's would we be be Dikov's di**'s
  12. There would be even more common sense shown if they were to confirm Paul Dikov as the new manager.........I don't really see the point in delaying it any further if it is true!!
  13. Totally unexpected......shocked and stunned LOL!!!!!
  14. Correct.........It doesn't matter how much you spend on players ( within reason ) if they don't perform as a team you'll win nowt. That is why we must get the right manager at the helm for next season and try and make some real progress on and off the pitch. I say bo*****s to everyone on this forum who keeps harping on about the good times never coming back.......Blackpool have shown that it is still possible to get to the prem on a low budget. If the desire is there....you can get wherever you want to be!!!!!
  15. O.S says they are almost ready to make the third draw so we've sold around 1,500. There will probably be a late surge tomorrow so hopefully near to 2000 by tomorrow night. There will still be reduced discount after that for 2 weeks so a favorable managerial appointment could give it another boost. The club would be fairly happy with that as I think we would have been lucky to shift half that amount if we had stuck with Penney!!!
  16. If they were going to give the job to Martin Gray then why bother with the interview process, they will know all about his qualities and if he's as good a coach as Mike Newton said it would save us some money from any pay off ........he may be an option for the assistants role but I think it would depend on the requests of any new manager. I still reckon we will end up with Bunn and would be more than happy with that!
  17. The difference is Lee Clark has been given a big budget to bring in the better players. There would be no point giving the job to Butt without substantial funds for wages and or transfers. Sure, he'll have all the contacts to bring the right players in but if we are only offering peanuts his influence will count for nothing. If we are to take a major gamble in bringing in Butt we will need to give him a decent budget to work with and I just can't see that happening. My choice would be Frankie Bunn with Gregan as player coach...a past and present legend likely to put bums on seat.
  18. I haven't seen any comments in the press from Dave Penney regarding his dismissal................anybody seen or heard what he had to say?
  19. Frankie Bunn 5/2 Jim Gannon 3/1 Paul Simpson 6/1 Martin Gray 7/1 Sean Gregan 8/1 Lee Duxbury 10/1 Paul Ince 10/1 Nicky Butt 11/1 Andy Ritchie 11/1 Alan Knill 12/1 Denis Irwin 14/1 Paul Scholes 14/1 Neil Thompson 16/1 Dean Holdsworth 16/1 John Coleman 16/1 Iain Dowie 18/1 Gary Speed 20/1 Sammy McIlroy 20/1 Peter Taylor 25/1 Lee Richardson 25/1 Dean Windass 25/1 Keith Hill 25/1 Ronny Jepson 28/1 Lee Sinnott 33/1 Dean Saunders 12/1 Csaba Laszlo 9/1 Frankie Bunn who started at 16/1 I think, is now clear favourite at 5/2...............Laszlo...... recent movement at 9/1
  20. If we were to employ Gray as manager then we may as well have kept Penney on!!! Gray would be on a hiding to nothing.....if we were to start next season in the same way as last his head would be on the block within a couple of weeks and his appointment would not persuade fans to buy season tickets!!!
  21. Bunn as manager and Gregan as player coach/assistant.
