  1. OK....The club don't seem to want to reduce the matchday price and the product on the pitch seems to get worse by the week. The new marketing man's remit by his own admissions is to increase the matchday attendance. If we don't improve the playing squad and continue to serve up boring dross on the field, how on earth is he going to succeed. I think he's on a hiding to nothing!!!!!
  2. That's a brilliant idea and would certainly attract much bigger crowds and be totally ground breaking!!!! It would be totally unique experience for football fans in the UK, whether it is feasible would be open to debate but well worth consideration,
  3. That will be the same guy as he lived in Royton and frequented Royton Band Club on a regular basis.
  4. Whenever I've seen him play he has always impressed me as he likes to get forward and offers a more attacking threat than our other midfielders. I would be tempted to have him on the bench for Saturday although only 6 starts for Rochdale in 3 months suggests he may not be ready for our 1st eleven. Opinions anybody!
  5. Like I said they should have got some experienced football people in to make the key decisions for them including the managerial appointments. Of course you have to blame TTA, this is the fourth manager in less than 6 years and we just seem to be going nowhere. I actually think Penney could be successful if given the time but the patience of supporters is wearing very thin and who can blame them as we've had to endure two relegations and absolute rubbish on the field for the last 15years or so!!! If you get the product right on the pitch then everything else falls into place and this is the area where most of the effort should have been focused. For TTA promotion would have been the most essential component of their business plan and it is solely their failure to acheive this which has left us in the situation we are in today. If we had been in the championship we would probably be looking at riding the recesson out and developing a new stadium at BP Ronnie Moore football was horrendous to watch but the football we are subjected to at the moment is as bad if not worse...all we want to see is a little bit more attacking football, a few goals, and 110% commitment from every player pulling on a blue shirt!! We have a thriving youth set up headed by Tony Philliskirk and I would much rather see our own players given a chance than average journeymen players with no connection to the club at all....at least you would get 100% commitment!! We are in a recession and charging £20 to watch our brand of 3rd division football is not going to get bums on seats even in a new stadium! If you had suggested to TTA a move to Failsworth 3 years ago they'd have laughed you out of their office...This moves stinks of desperation and is an early exit strategy for them, plain and simple!!!
  6. Just sounds to me like Parker can't be arsed and doesn't want to play!!
  7. When TTA came to this club we were on the brink of liquidation, another few weeks and the club would have been no more FACT!! It didn't matter to the fans who threw the money in as the situation had become critical, anyone, anywhere, just let's be having some investment!! We exited administration, had salvation Sunday and a thumping win against Grimsby in front of a capacity non paying 13,000+ crowd and more fans outside, having to be turned away!!! It was brilliant, packed out, a fantastic atmosphere, loads of goals, just about everything you would want in a game of football. What has happened since then has been nothing short of a disaster and you know why....because TTA have absolutely no idea at all in how to run a football club!!! They have stumbled along with one bad appointment after another and absolutely everything on and off the field has suffered as a result. They should have appointed a couple of experienced people in the key areas, people who knew the game inside out, maybe a Joe Royle or a Jim Smith, but, they decided to go it alone in a business they knew absolutely nothing at all about and, as a result, the club is now well and truly dying on it's feet. I know we have no alternatives, and just have to go along with this new development plan, but I'm convinced TTA want out by any means available and as soon as possible and is the main reason we are heading for a lower league stadium that half the fans don't want and in what is basically a suburb of Manchester. A club is nothing without it's fanbase and ours is dwindling away month on month. I am sick to death of journeymen footballers, pointless loanees, and a string of managers who have quite frankly produced absolutely nothing of note on the football field!!! Baring one or two, the players we have here now have absolutely no affinity to us whatsoever and it has been as though I'm watching someone else's team!!! For me, It is questionable whether we can survive another 10 years as a proffesional football club, especially in this division, or lower, even in a shiny new stadium. We have lost so many fans during TTA,s tenure, diehards who went week after week, home and away, and I'm not sure that we will ever get them back. When the players came out of the tunnel I used to get goosebumps at the back of my neck, I used to plan our family holidays around the fixtures, we had season tickets for the best part of 25years. Now it's all gone, there's no enjoyment anymore, going to the match is an effort...and more worryingly, you know what is the worst part.....I don't really care! Anybody else feel the same!!!
  8. That wouldn't be the same Ricketts who has done nothing since he left and Davies who if not out on lone would be 4th or 5th choice at Brighton!!!
  9. I reckon we could have got him for £200,000 when Micky Adams was there....OK it's a lot of money but we have to start to speculate a little. Take Stephens O'Grady and Colbeck off the payroll combined with their fees and you have more than enough money for Murray. I'm sick of this obsession with midfielders and full backs....Shez was the bloody same........it's goal action the fans want to see, plain and simple! When was the last time we had two quality strikers on the books......If this sort of football continues at BP we'll be down to 3,000 for home games....FACT!!!! If you think we'll be in a comfortable mid table position with these tactics you're in dreamland!!!!!!
  10. Our attacking threat is non existant to say the least.........Just watching the Southampton Brighton game on TV and there has been more football in 45mins than I have seen at BP all season and 9 shots from Brighton in the first half. Glenn Murray has scored two cracking goals and is available, he's the sort of player we should have took a chance on during the close season. Instead we waste money on the likes of Stephens, O'Grady and now flamin Colbeck!! They look a much better side than ourselves even though they are in the bottom 6....plenty of attacking football and forward movement in a game more akin to the championship, our football is positively pedestrian compared to this and I genuinely fear we will be in a relegation fight around Christmas time.
  11. There's nothing in this division this year and any of a dozen teams could go down and we could quite easily be one of them.......We have to be grateful that Wycombe and Tranmere are so poor. The way we're playing....Can you honestly see us getting more than 2 or 3 points from the next 4 games!!!
  12. You're not on your own my friend.......Lots of people I know have stopped going recently with the credit crunch a major factor. The thing is when it all get's back to normal can we entice them back. I think this next year or so will be one of the most critical in the clubs history!!!
  13. 270 mins of football 3 losses and no goals...We wouldn't score in a brothel!!! I don't think bringing in a striker would make that much difference to this lot, If it wasn't for our defence we would be in the relegation mix........anybody worried cos I am!!!!!!
  14. We've had a few chances but we just ain't clinical enough!!!!
  15. We should be used to the weather as we've played our last two games in similar conditions....If we can hold out against the wind I fancy a goal or two in the second half.
  16. City were a sleeping giant starved of success, if successful they are more than capable of pulling in 60,000+ crowds and so the potential was already there. As for the land...I never said it belonged to the club in my original post, I reffered to it as land potential!
  17. City and United have always been in close proximity and have a huge fan base, anyway that is a silly argument and in no way relevent to our situation. We sold the land to cover our debts but it was always available to be bought back by the club in the future. TTA bought it back so again I don't understand your point!
  18. They badly wanted to buy a football club, probably looked at the land potential and the fact that we had premiership on our CV!! I'm sure if they could turn back the clock they would never of got involved in the first place. I don't consider us to be in better shape now as the ground is falling down, crowds are significantly reduced, and we have had no success on the pitch whatsoever....it's only because of TTA's financial input that we are surviving at all. If they left next week we wouldn't last this season out!!
  19. The problem is they will be missed!!!
  20. In the rarely tonight, Tory group leader, councillor Jack Hulme was reassured by the Latics directors that the new stadium would only be one storey and not overpowering everything on the front of the road!!! I don't think there is any ambition whatsoever from TTA to increase the capacity some time in the future if the team were to get into the championship, mainly because they won't be here! If we were to grace the Championship, which surely has to be our aim, there would be a possibility that we could, potentially, be hosting the likes of, Huddersfield, Preston, Sheff U, Sheff W, Derby, West Brom, Newcastle, Leeds, West Ham, Wolves, Bolton, and Blackburn. With raised expectations of our own fans and a general increase in attendance where would we put all these extra away fans!!! For me, there has to be room for expansion in the future and, as a statement of intent, this has to be included in the original planning submission, If it is'nt, then I fear like the corporal has intimated once or twice that we will be seen by our fans to be settling for a lower league exsistence! If the directors think that a move to a shiny new stadium and continued survival at this level will be enough to increase the fanbase then they are sadly mistaken!!
