  1. I went for Barrett and Jobbo - but the mention of Clements and Futcher take me back to when I first watched Latics (and defender were allowed to tackle people at that time) - Clements in fact was my first big Latics hero him and Roger Palmer :-))
  2. Yes sorry was 82 - minds plays tricks on you when you get old :-)
  3. With World Cup qualifiers coming up what do people think the best world cup was (Overall footbal and entertainment - not just 1966 because we won). The one I enjoyed the most was Mexico 86 - Denmark 5 Spain 1 (Landrup), USSR - had a player I think called Rats, Maradonna at his best before he became a cheating c**t, and best final I have seen in a world cup Argentina 3 Germany 2). Only down side was the Mad German Keeper Schumacher and his challenge on the French guy that would now days see him banned for a least 6 months (two footed challenge he nearly killed him).
  4. Have to agree first thought was oh F**king hell who?? - but the more I find out about the badges and his views etc. - I may have been a bit quick off the mark - may have found the right man at last.
  5. Now it is confirmed - all I can say now is I do not agree or like this appointment - but all the best Lee Fingers crossed.
  6. Dickov gave him a clear view - all interviewees would give him a clear view no one goes into any interview and sits there with no idea of what they would do - as for trusting SC understands that it is his club and he has the right to appoint who he wants (I think he has been great for the club) just ask yourself what his track record is with the appointment of managers - maybe a more footballing person like Big Joe should be making appointments like this. It is a huge risk - can we afford this in the current situation we are in now?
  7. Basically I not against the guy - no experience that is my issue I think it is totally not right to get some one like this in when we are really in a big mess and say get us out of it and I don't think it fair on him or the fans and didn't work out too well for Dickov and he had top level playing experience and connection - I think if this was done at the end of the season I woud not react like this as the guy would have pre - season to get to know the players work on system gain a bit of knowledge / experience. I know everyone has to start some where but alot of managers have been through coaching job lower down and gained experience I for one would not expect me to become CEO at Barclays just because I gave a good interview (also PD impress in his interview and look at the record he had). I do not expect us to win cups and league I think I am realistic (in fact for last few season just wanted us not to go down and I see that as a good season) but the club has been on the slide for many years now and it is hard to find any hope to cling on to. I don't think that this will help the club in any way I will be happy to have his dad and him as the assistant - i'm struggling to see how this takes the club forward. A lot of my mate are glory hunters and support Utd or City - I went first in 1979 and have been true since then - I just don't know what the strategy is to get us where we need to be and that is difficult for me to accept.
  8. If he gets the job - that's it after 20+ years of following through thick and thin can not take any more of this.
  9. Do you think Murray / Cliff B would be interested - taking on the youth while TP works his magic with the first team? - Give TP the job till the end of the season he may grow to love it and also who knows the team / club better than him - and no excuses or spin from him totally honest and top bloke.
  10. Which one the Villa part or leaving Forest with no dent on his reputation? - once they had gone through a few more managers like Chelsea think most will be blaming the Chairman and manger like him (average not great) would always get some thing based on his record at Rangers, Birmingham, Scotland and yes Villa (especially if they go down the job that he did was Ok - however my mate the Villa fan does not agree still thinks he is a f**king W**ker but I think that is based more on the ex - Birmingham thing).
  11. Most of them - but if Dickov wasn't trying to be their best friends he would have bollocked them (fined them) and / or moved them on - wasn't him that said I want players that run thought brick walls for the club - I guess you did not sign many of them Paul in the end.
  12. Wonder what he gets after 7 weeks - what the payoff will be - bet it is not bad for just 7 weeks work + leaves with no damage to his reputation and looking at the Villa Situation at the moment did a decent job there.
  13. If DiCanio deceides to leave Swindon (due to issues with the board) would have him - he would be Brill - but wouldn't probably come.
  14. Owen Coyle? - or do you think that he is out of our reach - always liked him as a manager and a person?
  15. Why wait until after Tuesday Match? - surely enough is enough - Club comes first - should be gone Monday Morning at the latest - end of.
  16. I work right next to the Reading Ground view from Reading fan at work:- We have high hopes for him – one of our better Academy products. Can score goals, but hasn’t been around our first team much. Mainly been out on loan.
  17. I can only think of Roger Moore - But he is well experienced.
  18. This will either be a master stroke by PD or a complete waste of time and nothing in between - but think it may work use him as a sitting midfielder (not too much running about) and gives a experienced leader on the pitch - maybe just maybe.
  19. Basically if he is to stay then he needs a expericenced Assistant - not one of his mates or a yes man - some one who will put him right on the tatics - some one that when things need changes tells him and some one he respects and he will follow so maybe an ex manager of his. (I admit I am one of the those that think he has had enough time and this is now his team his signings - so he has no excuses for the results - even after yesterday).
  20. Hate to say it - please look at my previous post - Matty Smith will / has come good - did not wish to show off but I do get one right every so often :-))
  21. Good manager - gut feeling is he will be back at Blakpool in the next couple of days.
  22. Jesus - because he can work Miracles and we could do with one of those about now :-)). I think he is a Spainish Manager Jesus Miracles. Or Jose Mourinho - I would then be all to happy to call him the Special One - it's easy managing Porto, Chelsea and Real Madrid - if you want a really challenge come here and then we will see how special you are mate.
  23. Agreed - not that good a manager if you ask me - thought Blackburn could get some one better in than him.
  24. If Baxter goes or Derbyshire does not come back:- http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20948721
