So disappointed how the last 5 games have gone. After all the optimism of appointing Scholes and beating Yeovil, 3 points and no wins from 5 games playing bang average teams, with the exception of Bury is pretty shit. A WDL record of 12 12 12 sums us up really.... Just not good enough to challenge and inconsistent. Not sure any manager could have done much better with the players we have, however I hoped we would at least extend the interest in the season until April. Will feel a bit wierd with nothing to play for...at least it was interesting at the bottom of league 1

I like George. Showed he has the makings of a good player this season and a potential captain. Still has a lot to learn however and needs to understand this. Agree he's better than bang average!

Agree 100% with Bosh. We do though as done have said need to get a younger but experienced centre back.

The defense is our problem, as it was last season. Iverson is a top keeper at League 2 level and without him we would be in worse position than we are now and be a few hundred grand worse off as we would not have progressed in the Cup. We had the 2nd worst defensive record last year in league 1 conceding 75 goals, and all we did was change our keeper and bring back Clarke. We are on track to ship about 60 goals this year so would need to score around 95 to be in the top 3 based on the current top 3! Only Lincoln, Bury, MKD and Colchester have outscored us so its apparent where the priority lies.....however we ain't gonna score 95 goals!! IMO we concede too many goals from crosses because our full backs defensively at least, are not good enough. We play players out of position, who don't know their job is to primarily defend...or they simply cannot defend at all. Cut out 15 goals against us next season and maintain our scoring rate and we will be up there next year.

Both are frustrating players who have their relative strengths and weakness'. Both can do a job as decent squad players next season, but we need better if we are to challenge next season for a top 3 spot. I think can Scholes see this, and will find an alternative first choice centre midfielder to compliment Missi before next season starts. Coke and Sylla are both bang average at best and can go, as they offer less than Gardner and Maouche Lets hope the squad in the main is vastly changed by August and Scholes can give it a good go.

If he can get and stay 'fit for next season, and we can get some good young forwards in on loan with good football brains to support him, we will be challenging to win this crap division. Seems like Scholes wants him to be the man, and an on form and fit Jose will be the best player in this league by a country mile.

Sounds like George was thrown out again??......I wasn't there unfortunately on Saturday, but if true and justified, then he really does himself or the club no favors and should be banned from all Latics away games. He's had more 2nd chances than I can remember. My young lad who is 11, feels uncomfortable regularly at away game when sat/stood around him, and it wouldn't surprise me if someone sooner or later does a real proper job on him as I suspect he's about as hard as a eunach's prick. He's a complete embarrassment to the football club.

Should do a kids for free day or similar for Saturdays match. No Prem going on and Sat's fa cup games are shit so a good chance to get a few new and lapsed supporters in.

Fair enough, agree that poor is not necessarily awful. I saw it slightly differently than you in the fact that we were not great for an hour, but do agree we deserved to win in the end as we took our chances and they didn't. Onwards and upwards!

We were poor for the first hour...end of. If you were there you would know. Crawley were shit. Last 20 mins after the changes we were much better and we deserved the win.

Vera was very poor again. How someone that big can be so poor in the air is puzzling. Also why we played Stott at left back also made no sense. I like him as a centre half but not a left back. Dearnley made a big difference when he came on. Skill pace and desire on the right hand side. Lang did OK and worked his socks off. Branger I thought was having a mare until the goal... Made by a magnificent run by Dearnley. Defensivly he offers little and needs to do more tracking Back. However can't knock his goal or his assist. System in general OK but midfield were second best to a shit Crawley for the first 60 mins. If we play this system then we need the wide men to get back and defend when not in possession. 3.0 flattered us but we took our chances and Dearnley could be a gem next season if Scholes can get to keep him. 3 home wins and the season may not be over after all

Sounds like Scholes first 3 games will be at home to Yeovil, Crewe and Morcombe before a big day out at Bury. Wonder if this could have been a bit contrived....? Still he could't have asked for a better start and if he starts with 9pts from 9 then who knows where we could finish.

Erm it's not rocket science... Whatever the current position is regarding the managers appointment and when we expect to make an appointment, rather than us, the supporters having to rely on speculative random tweets and press articles daily!

George played really well at MK Harry so I'd be gobsmacked if he didn't start. We could even try and play all 3as a back 3 with Nepo and Hammer as wing backs....Sylla Maouche Missi in the middle, with Lang +1 up top...

Yep either could have gone off. Neither were playing that badly or pulling up trees. Both were doing effectively the same holding job, although Missilou does give us a bit more more going forward.
