  1. In addition who would pay all of this struggling clubs debt off- leaving no money to pay wages. . Unless of course. You haven’t.
  2. Didn’t that Jeff Mostyn pump a load in at the last minute to save them extinction? While he wasn’t a billionaire, he was paying the bills to take them upto the championship. I don’t think it was mega money, but equally they weren’t struggling to pay wages neither. You don’t have that level of success without some level of investment. We have had zero investment, and have no proof we are debt free- (and seeing as though abdallah told us our problems we’re behind us, to then struggle with the basics of paying wages) I’m very dubious we are. It’s a very grim time, and I would be straggered if we seriously challenged this year.
  3. What do you mean? We’ve gone backwards since our darkest hour?
  4. I agree in part. I don’t think clubs our size will ever go to the wall as such. As I believe they’ll always be a team from Oldham in some form. In addition I think they’ll always be place for local sides playing each other- especially with two fingers to massive clubs. Where I do agree, is your point about leagues splitting into temslves. There’s already talk of a premier league 2. An I think with the money involved now, in years to come that will be our ‘promise land.’ The money that would be required to stabilise us in championship from our current position would easily be 20 million plus IMO. Which is unlikely in the extreme.
  5. It’s the hope that kills you. So many false dawns. In some ways, I wish we were put out of our misery and start afresh. Then I slap myself, and realise I don’t fancy ramsbottom away.
  6. Good shout. We never thought we were getting a holding player.
  7. What want to know is- Wheres’s Eyrsey to tell us there’s no point in winning tonight? ?
  8. Usually Bob, yes. But this is Eyrsey your talking to, the king of unpopular counter argument. ?
  9. It’s a results driven business. If results are poor, then any manager at any club comes under pressure. However results are steady, so I see no reason to look at Bunn’s position at the minute. If by Christmas the football is still poor, and crucially if results really dip. Then he will be under pressure and rightly so. I take your point about our appointments though, if we got right. The revolving door would stop.
  10. Yeah, fair point. Legend is probably streching it a bit. I also agree his appointment was odd. But he’s here, and while the football is poor results have been steady. Lots of rookie managers have made worse starts than Bunn. Plus he has an affinity with the club. I think he’s worth sticking with till Christmas at least to see if he can get us going. If he can’t- he goes. Like any other manager. I find it amusing that deyers42 thought sacking wellens was harsh after only six months and after he played his part in our relegation. His favourite quote at the time was ‘the sample size of games isn’t enough to judge’ An yet he wants Bunn sacked before we’ve played a game. ? Bizarre.
  11. Fair enough. The football isnt great, but results generally aren’t bad. ‘The squad’ is shite - But he’s created a good spirit in the group. Plus his history with the club gives him credit in the bank IMO. I think he was trying to be more attacking yesterday with that formation, but got caught at the other end. Mistakes will happen. We won’t be that bad again.
  12. I know. You tell us every week. When we win, we’re lucky/playing a shit side. When we lose, we get ‘told you so’ You haven’t give him any backing. Preferring to be proven right over giving credit where it’s due. That’s sad. Particulary with a club legend.
  13. You two obviously dont want Bunn. Time- (if he gets it) will tell. I think it’s sad you want to hound out a club legend rookie so soon.
  14. Spot on. Bunn is making some very strange decisions, but off the field certainly isn’t helping.
  15. What level of football would people realistically watch, if it meant we truly lived within our means?? What matters to you all? A, a successful-ish side loaned to hilt- Bury. (I know they got relegated but they also got promoted out of this league paying big wages, and still ended up back where they started. But at least they had the ride for a while) B, no success and struggle on Rochdale in years gone by. C. Drop further, but everyone is paid/happy. As others have alluded to, I think we delude ourselves of the amount of money needed to be successful at our level. A prime example is Fleetwood. There chairman must of pumped many millions into that club - to be doing ok in league one. We are nowhere near that level of investment, and let’s be honest it’s that sort of money that gets you places. Its got to stage for me, where the football has become secondary to what I want the club to be about. I’m probably in the minority, but there hey ho.
  16. Your conflating the issue. Supporting the team, and wanting to win on a Saturday will never go away. They’ll always be a Oldham Athletic in some form to go and watch. Thats very different to being worried, saddened as to what level of football you will be watching. I can do absolutely nothing about it, but equally I don’t think it’s unreasonable to discuss our plight with people who get it. I can’t talk to the Mrs, because she couldn’t care less. ?
  17. Angst ridden torment. . ? I care about the club, but you’ll be happy to know they rank very low on the important things in life. I came on a latics forum to discuss and gauge how others feel. That’s it.
  18. That’s contradictory though. Say you had 5 million, and you thought the entire spend for the club would be 3 Million. You spend a further 500k ‘having a go’ whilst doing that you find a black hole of further debt of another 1.5 million. Surely you would manage that the best you could rather than thinking I’ll blow the rest of my budget so the club is ok for a future owner but I’m screwed personally. It’s human nature to look after number one first. Also, who would you pay first- the old pie contract- or the players? If the players aren’t getting paid, I think it’s fair to assume he hasn’t cleared all outstanding debt.
  19. Mmmm. What bloke would have a go for a few months, realise he’s skint himself. Then think with what I’ve got left i’ll clear the debt for any new owner coming in. It’s a stretch.
