From the self-appointed guardian of the Northern Working Class who proclaims himself to be a Southerner and who only just got back from his holiday in Tuscany or wherever? :D Whether I vote or not is up to me, as an Englishman I am used to be free to do what I like so like as it doesn;t interfere with the rights of others. Anyway, I am (sadly) a UK tax payer who is earning export income for my country by working abroad. What a disgrace eh?

Till you claim it all back - and you are indeed free to stay the f*** out of it, as you have chosen to do.

I have lived by far the majority of my adult life in London, and I am now earning slightly more than the average local wage, but so what? My background is northern working class, but so what? I just spent four days on holiday in Italy, and I'm back in time to vote this Thursday, but so what? You are an expat with wide-eyed ideological leanings and a fascination with promoting (for no fee, no less) Poshos for Power, but so what?

So f****** what?

I take your point about processes potentially taking longer than the pledged times, but I'm not sure about waiting lists. Unless it is something very specialised where maybe there are only a few consultants in the region or country who can do the job or an especially rare illness then wouldn't the level of cases be fairly predictable and stable, and it would take the same levels of staff to see people in 3 days as it does to see them in 3 months (ie to maintain whatever queuing time you are currently at)?

I'm pretty sure if someone took £100 quid out of your bank account every month and fed half of it back to you in a variety of ways, you would look at it as taking money out. Or to put it a different way if the government employed a couple of million extra people on £50 grand, would it benefit everyone else or make them worse off?

I think I see your logic about the number of people being predictable therefore it should take the same number of staff to deal with it but it doesn't work like that.

1.) If the number of people presenting with condition x a year to one hospital is 52 then by your logic you would budget for 1/week. However, if 3 people present during the same week then you might be a bit stuck and someone may have to wait a while to be seen. People don't present in normal order (or even a predictable variation).

2.) Its not just the doctor who sees you that deals with your "case", with cancer referrals you have to ring up a specialist number, your GP (or other referring person) has to deal with the paper work and the specialist's secretary has to organise the appointment. All these people work to a certain level and to get the waiting list down you either need to hire someone else to help or pay them more money in terms of overtime. Plus the processes take time which needs to be factored in.

3.) Currently with quite a few sorts of "Cancer" the natural prevalence and severity (in terms of deadliness) means that they don't need to be seen that quickly but to artifically deflate their waiting time to 1 week will mean certain conditions get knocked back and without massive reorganisation (which will naturally mean more jobs) this is going to happen.

My big cripe with this is that politicans feel it necessary to give the NHS targets and very specific targets which are politicallly motivated. Traffic wardens aren't expected to give every Ferrari parked illegally a ticket within 30 minutes (no matter how popular that would be). Politicans aren't expected to see their constituents when they want that week so why should the NHS?

As to your second point about money out of bank accounts- I have kinda answered that in a previous post. However, if the people provide a much needed service then without them the country would be worse off, plus if they aren't being employed anywhere then that means the government has to give them unemployment benefit (or whatever they call it) so they can eat etc.

Those hairy ones combined with springloaded flaps don't half make it difficult to get your fingers in.

I remember on my paper round how I used to wait for snappy barky dogs to come snapping at the letter box before twatting the rolled up paper at the bastards. A bit of animal cruelty can get a young boy through his arduous working schedule.

I'd wait till they'd got their chops round a nice, tightly rolled tabloid, and then shove it down their throats. Yap yap yap duff squeal whimper. Happy days.

+1

And the last large democratic exercise you were campaigning for was the C-charge, right? I'm surprised Lord Mandy hasn't had you locked in his crypt for the duration

For what it's worth, I think the Tories will reduce spending by the most so they would be my preference, although they wouldn't go anything like far enough and some of their fluffy stuff is bollocks. We shall see anyhow.

Why does your preference coincide with that of a load of public school-educated, privileged airheads? Why? One of life's great mysteries.

As soon as your born they make you feel small,

By giving you no time instead of it all,

Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all,

A working class hero is something to be,

A working class hero is something to be.

They hurt you at home and they hit you at school,

They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool,

Till you're so :censored:ing crazy you can't follow their rules,

A working class hero is something to be,

A working class hero is something to be.

When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years,

Then they expect you to pick a career,

When you can't really function you're so full of fear,

A working class hero is something to be,

A working class hero is something to be.

Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV,

And you think you're so clever and classless and free,

But you're still :censored:ing peasents as far as I can see,

A working class hero is something to be,

A working class hero is something to be.

There's room at the top they are telling you still,

But first you must learn how to smile as you kill,

If you want to be like the folks on the hill,

A working class hero is something to be.

A working class hero is something to be.

If you want to be a hero well just follow me,

If you want to be a hero well just follow me.

Low blow... I admitted I was wrong on that one from the prospective that the metro link happened anyway... I was dead right on the Green issue though :)

You, typical Tory, don't care about such things :P

I can't see anything other than a Tory win, which I think is going to be a real shame for a lot of family's...

Actually you aren;t even necesarily right on a C-charge cutting pollution, but that's another matter. Anyway, I think it's a shame that kids born in the same ward on the same day as yours will grow up impovershed, poorly educated and with less access to healthcare, decent jobs and so many other things because they will be suffering the consequences of Gordy's vast overspending.

I'm hopeful we can begin the real recession soon as opposed to delaying (and significantly worsening) it for 5/10 years until I have kids.

Please please please let me lick the rings of Bullingdon club members. Please let me wipe the cheese from the knobs of people who went to public school. Please Sir please please please.
