Manchester United promote new kit that is 'Made in Manchester' with a picture of Oldham

crap looking shirt...

But different enough from their recent shirts so that kids and other impressionable people will be teased for not having the latest shirt leading to many people handing over £40 worldwide which will enable Man U to pay their debt interest off quicker.

Beautiful game, my arse.

Pah. Oldham was a big town when Manchester was a village. Manchester proper was a trading centre more than a manufacturing one, and a lot of the towns* had specialised in certain clothes rather than them all just making cloth, so it's really quite ignorant to think that one picture conveys the whole of the region.

* Oldham did the high volume crappy low end stuff

I know and relocating them to some 3rd world area like Trafford making them work for pennies and stealing are jobs. :OASISscarf:

It does seem a little tasteless that they're trading on the heritage of the textiles industry of 'Manchester' (i.e. Lancashire) when the shirt will no doubt be produced (like nigh-on all others clubs', admittedly) in one of Nike's third world sweatshops.
