It's been brilliant! Anyway, we plan on really kicking things off at Colchester. The article below is what has been written for the OA95 Ultras website in preparation for the Easter Monday game (come on, weather!) which I wanted to share with you all. The more who know the better it should be - fingers crossed. With our ideology moving away from the hooliganism of the FYC, we want to bring in the anti-racist, fan-friendly atmosphere which is enjoyed across Europe and by several clubs in England. This article is disappointing and really reflects one of the many things we want to change. Although this match will be our "debut," there's no limits as to where we can go with this and hope to truly transform the club. Anti-racism, fan-friendly and a damn sight better than any club in the league! For Lee Johnson it will be another chance to prove his place as the new Latics manager following the desperately needed 3-0 win against Hartlepool. But Monday will be much more important than any relegation battle for the fans: Easter Monday will be the debut of our very own ultras: OA95 Athleticos! After organising the group, gaining support from other fans and lots of other work we're hoping to show Colchester what Oldham is made of. A new style of support is possible and we want to show that to English football this Easter. Oldham's reputation needs a boost and we plan on sending the Essex boys home having been out-done both on and off the pitch. A gift from friends in Hamburg Our Athleticos banner will be at the game along with plenty of flags thanks to members of the group. Flags will be handed out to give the game a bit of colour and a nice sight to see instead of yellow jackets hassling our fans. We also urge fans to bring their own flags as well as scarves as we plan to rock the stand. A small group of St. Pauli fans also gave us one of their flags after hearing of our cause against racism. 15 Euros worth of a flag, it'll be amongst the many flying at Boundary Park as a thank you for their support to our cause. Love Latics, hate racism! Manager Lee Johnson mentioned the ground needs more support as well as hinting at a singing section. Why not bring it to him and show him how much we want it? That's exactly what we plan to do. We urge all fans to get involved! Bring a flag, bring a scarf, bring a friend! Every little helps in our campaign to change the face of support at Oldham. We're not Saint Pauli I don't see what's so wrong with trying hard when our stadium is dead and it's actually unpleasant visiting a Boundary Park so quiet. Everybody prefered the atmosphere generated at Forest/Liverpool/Everton so why not try to recreate it, or at least attempt to make normal matches more like that. As for political influence; that's utter rubbish. Most of the kids there are probably at the age where they don't know their right from their left never mind right-wing to their left-wing! Personally I don't like having to label it, be that ultras or any other label but if it genuinely helps then fair enough. All I would say is that sadly our vocal support has reduced in recent years and it will take a lot of effort to turn that around. It will not be done in one game and so if you are serious about this you will have to stick at it. I remember something similar to this last season and it seemed to die off after a couple of weeks. It is also important to remember that not everyone wants to sing so please respect their views. If you make a good atmosphere more and more people will join in, they will not have to be pursuaded to do so. Get a decent number of likeminded lads together and you will soon have many more. Realistically, it's going to be a load of kids who are up for this yet German Latic seems as concerned about turning it into a liberal, anti fascist love in as he does about making a noise. I'm not having a pop at his beliefs but this is just one man's idealistic crusade masqueraded as a general one. Attempting to force beliefs on people, could be argued it's inappropriate. We're not Saint Pauli It is something I've helped craft into a very different image - but only with consent from the others. Don't get me wrong, we're all for anti-racism, making a scene and the rest, but this isn't a political demonstration or an attempt to change anybody's views. As NewBlue said above, do you think half of the people in this will be even aware of right/left? We just want a set of like-minded fans wanting to make the atmosphere, reputation of the club and experience of watching matches better. Plus this is focused on one group, not the entire fans. If you don't associate with it then why such the fuss? All we've asked of people is to bring a scarf or a friend. Agreed and we'll take that in. This is why we're deeming it nothing more than just a "debut." We're already facing one or two problems with the drummer so we'll have to see where it goes. We also want to make it clear where we'll be sitting so that if fans don't want a drum being whacked down their ear for 90 minutes they can keep clear of us. Let's see how Monday goes first. I'm all for a better atmosphere at BP (and that will come as the result of success on the pitch bringing in more people therefore louder terraces and not through a facebook group) but the orchestrated :censored: that may work on the continent is not in line with British terrace culture. I used to enjoy going to watch Palace. Went the other month in the Holmesdale and the area that used to have a good atmosphere is now led by two or three blokes at the bottom not watching the game, orchestrating songs which essentially have no words. UKIP is awful; it shows how blind people in Britain are to give it so much support. They're nothing more than Tories jumping on the immigration bandwagon to rear in swing voters. Speaking of Palace, didn't they have something like this (or they still do)? Remember a decent picture being posted on here when I brought it up in the past. For me; there's nothing more enjoyable than forced and orchestrated group singing / chanting at games.....oh wait nope - got that mixed up. There's nothing worse.....that's what i meant. Singing has to be spontaneous and random. Brought about by the ebb & flow of the game itself. Being told when and what to sing, what to wear, when to raise a scarf and wave it....when to stand, when to sit. Meh. My idea of hell at the football. Each to their own, and all power to you for trying....but for me; it's all a little too; what's the word; dunno - forced? Get my drift anyway.
