Sums it up

In the 91st minute they bring on a striker whose wage alone is higher than our whole squad for a striker who was 2nd top scorer in the SPL last season.

We were poor tonight in comparison to our performance standards during the season and I think the tactics were questionable, but it's difficult to compete with a team with players like Griffiths and Sako, with other ex-Premier League players in their team and bench.

Simply, they were just too good. We'll move on.

exactly - Sakho, Doyle and Griffiths aside the rest is as like all league 1 much of a muchness - we certainly didn't test them tonight.

2 up top with Sidney and Monty would have given us a better chance of a point rather than the 4-5-1 as that is clearly wht we set up to get which is really disappointing from LJ given he likes to attack teams with pace every game and try to win!

Poor tonight and baffling to say the least as to what he was thinking changing tactics and personnel to the extent that he did.......

Bollocks, they were there for the taking. 8-0 win, easy.

Walsall managed to go there and cope with their wage bill.

That's no argument. We beat Liverpool last season, shocks happen. We had an average day today which wasn't good enough to beat a quality side.

On tactics, the 3 midfielders seemed to be containing them in the first half, but the 1 up front was useless really; defenders just bullied Philliskirk around. We had a couple of half chances late on but the tactics were clearly there to get clean sheet rather than score goals.

You suggesting Sid and Monty would've given us a better chance is really based off nothing. Is Schmeltz better than Dayton? Definitely not. Playing another striker would've meant we couldn't have 3 in midfield, and when we actually had 2 strikers up front they didn't threaten whatsoever. Winchester seemed to be adopting the attacking midfield position quite often, perhaps Rooney up front with Philli behind him would've given us more attacking intent and kept a 3 in midfield, but it's all speculation.

If you think we should've gone all-out attack on them today you're crazy. The idea LJ had was right, dominate midfield and get a goal on the break, but it didn't work. Shame, but as I said, we move on.

I think Dayton is more talented than Sid. But Sid puts in more of a performance. Dayton goes missing far to often. Sid at least trys- would rather watch that.

We didn't even try and have a go. We more than matched them in the opening exchanges until the goal (which from where we were sat looked like another Oxley fumble albeit the cross shouldn't come in)

We gave them far to much respect not trying to attack them and when we did using Montano who was poor.

Losing to wolves is no big deal but it's the manner of the defeat as they weren't that good at all.

Agreed with the exception that I thought Wolves looked pretty good. They'll win the league. We appeared to have little or no interest at getting at them whatsoever until we went behind.

for me LJ got it totally wrong last night, playing one up front is hard enough but when we have little creativity in the middle then it is even harder, Philliskirk was bullied by their big physical centre halfs last night, you'd think rooney or JCH would of fared a lot better. In the end though it cost us as we kept losing it In the final third and inviting pressure on ourselves, there was almost a sense of inevitably that the first goal would go in. ahh well in LJ we trust, roll on Saturday.

Last night was the first time this season that I didn't think we deserved something from a game. We more than matched them in the first half but once the first goal went in, it appeared to drain all self belief from the players.

That's not acceptable, it should have given them more resolve, this is something in the make up of the side the manager needs to address.

I understand from fans who went to the match the captain was hardly seen the 2nd half, that hardly sets an example, if he can't rally the team take the armband off him and give it to someone more vocal like Tarkowski.

Of course Wolves are in this league for a reason, but the reason they'll be promoted is that they can consistently play at a level above the opposition led by an experienced manager who knows the league.

Hence, they probably won't reach their top level for 90% of the season, but that's still enough.

When I reflect on it, the tactics were CORRECT, the personnel to use those tactics were WRONG. His idea, though negative, was probably the only way we would deal with them. The point against Johnson being that he had players at his disposal who could've made the second half a tighter battle. Them being an out-and-out striker, with a more attacking midfielder behind him.

Wolves were clearly a technically a better side than us, you could tell because their players required less touches of the ball and every pass met its intended target.

That said they didn't really cause us any problems until towards the end of the 1st half. The way we set out, there was no intended target when we did get the ball, it was a case of "let's get it as far away from our goal as possible". I think to most fans it stank of a defeatist attitude which we ployed a lot under Dave Penney. We don't want to go back to that, what made our club great under Joe Royle was the fearless nature we went about things.
