Is Latics' League Cup record at risk of being broken?

Recommended Posts

It's nearly 24 years since Second Division Latics' 6-0 St. Valentine's Day massacre of West Ham, which created a record for one leg of a League Cup Semi-Final. The nearest any club has come to equaling it was Liverpool's 5-0 win against Palace in 2001. It shows what a fantastic result it was back in 1990.

Tonight, with free-scoring Citeh, with the massive budget, playing hapless West Ham, the record may be vulnerable.

I was at the 5th Ashes test in Sydney in 2011 and I was tying the flag in my profile pic up and the bloke next to me tying his West Ham flag up said, do you want me to tie the other end up for ya mate, he then looked at the Latics badge and said, nah mate I ain't doing it, I was there for that 6-0. Wonder if he's at Citeh's council house tonight?
