NewBlue
What does he add to the team in that number 10 position at the moment? Looked better up front but was hardly influential - pretty anonymous in fact - and has been for a while; with Mellis and Forte waiting for a spot, do his performances justify a position in the team? oldhamoafc
Once again nearly cost us a goal being caught in possession on the half way line! Been saying it for months. Been slated for it too. I'm not guna comment on it more because oldham fans love a player who runs about.
Chaddy_Ender
Seems to be an untouchable, the golden boy of the squad, in plenty of games he is ineffective yet Winchester always seems to be the one to make way. For the position he plays in our team he just doesnt do enough for me goals or assists.
HarryBosch
He's fine. Doesn't set the world alight but does lots of stuff very well. We need to give this kind of player time, if not all types of players, he'll probably come very good at some point.

laticsmarra
Don't know what all the fuss is about, are we struggling to find a player to have a go at ? Does the simple things well, knits things together, passes to a blue shirt (what about his pass to Forte today),has vision and passion. You should always look to improve on a players deficiencies, look at tennis where Murray changes coaches for that very reason. If Philliskirk can iron out his recurring technical faults he can go to an higher level. The two aspects are not shielding the ball correctly and a tendency to manoeuvre too long into position in front of goal when a snapshot is a better option. One thing for certain Danny will be working hard to improve on his deficiencies, like in close season when he spent hours in the gym building his all round physical strength, still got some way to match George. LaticsPete
I am in the time for a rest camp. I think there is a decent player there but he hasn't , for quite a while, shown the desire to win tackles, go for headers, or pull the trigger when in shooting positions. He looks busy but it's not to great effect. At his age he should be bursting through on runs, being a pillar of strength - if any remember Darron McDonough you'll recall a young player who could play up front or midfield and who made a real impressin on a game. Danny doesn't leave a mark...currently

He could do with adding a few more goals to his game at the moment he should be getting double figure goals from that position, but think of all the :censored: we've had playing for us down the years hes way ahead of some of the crap we've had playing up top down the years. Oh and btw we won 3-0 today enjoy it! Edited January 31, 2015 by GlossopLatic

Danny doesn't leave a mark...currently This is spot on. It's not about giving up on Philly by any stretch - he's very talented and capable - somebody just needs to sit down with him and evaluate the player he wants to be. It feels like he's not really got any direction to his game at the moment. Not really any defined role in the team. A rest will do and a bit of proper coaching that LJ seems to be pretty good at, given how he's overseen JCH, Tarky and Winchester find themselves as players. He just needs a bit of a kick start as it all seems a bit stagnant at the moment for him.

iamjonesyyoafc
He's a very capable attacking player and does his job well going back, but has a tendency to go missing in games. First 30 mins he did absolutely nothing but was much better second half up top with Forte. I like him, but I don't envy Johnson having to choose that front three. You've missed the point. JCH went from unwanted talent to a player worth a club record fee under LJ's tutelage. It's not about their respective abilities, it's about their development. And I've no idea about how his Dad helps him. All you can comment on is his performances on the pitch, and he seems to be stagnating and underperforming. He needs a rest and rethink for his own good and for the team's. Look at Tarky and Winchester. Had a rest and rethink with LJ during the close season, came back and were drastically improved. There are parallels with Philly and them.

Some of us rated Tarky all along, even when people were panicking about losing Big Jean. The only parallel is there!

Laticsbiffo
Philly works his socks off every game. Has at least 6 assists and has got us 4 penalties this year. Leave him be, he does a very important job knitting the midfield to the front line.
