Taking advantage of the opposition's mistakes is much better than not doing so. Oh absolutely, we need to cut out the mistakes, which 2nd half of the season saw us doing just that.
Summerdeep
Sorry to derail the thread again, but just noticed the HGSO posts from a few days back. I was there late 60s to mid 70s, it was an astonishing place and an amazing era. There were some really good teachers, like Counsell, Boocock, Hallett among others, and Lapsley was an interesting guy as well. There were some nut jobs as well of course - step forward Nobby Clark, Sam Bell and Abdul.... I'd also go against the tide of fashion and state that I believe SW Johnson was an excellent headmaster. There, said it! There are one or two sites where former pupils can share their views, such as: https://madmikesamerica.com/2013/08/schooldays-grammar-school-in-1970s-britain-part-ii/ https://madmikesamerica.com/2013/08/schooldays-grammar-school-in-1970s-britain-part-iii/ https://madmikesamerica.com/2013/08/schooldays-grammar-school-in-1970s-britain-part-1/ Edited May 8, 2023 by Summerdeep

Summerdeep
He was occasionally referred to as 'Charlie' after the Chelsea footballer of the late 1960s and early 70s, but most of us generally called him 'Geoff' as you imply. Hasn't he been associated with Oldham RLFC in recent years? I recall seeing him standing in the Chaddy end once or twice in the 1969-70 season, but as an earlier poster pointed out, he actually supported Halifax Town.
