  1. Honest and open interview who would want to be in his shoes. £300K owing to HMRC is obviously dangerous as it indicates there are arrears in there. HMRC currently have a specialist unit monitoring Sports Clubs and their tax payment situation. As soon as they fall behind they are fast tracking them towards winding up orders.
  2. Perhaps we should give Simon Corney's ability to appoint Managers a vote of confidence first.
  3. The Trust from day one have been sucked into the fabric of the club. No doubt they do good work voluntarily without pay,but they are bound quite rightly by confidentiality. The initiative being discussed by Nonaenever should be independent of the club, to allow some more radical thinking and initiatives than the Trust can. At the same time it should try to work in a spirit of co-operation with the club, but at its core have the interests and concerns of supporters at its heart.
  4. I've been as fed up,bored and critical as most on here, but today we were playing a better team than most we have seen this season. We are slowly getting better and today could have won and did create chances which wasn't happening a month ago. The coach and some players that we have are making progress and with a couple of new players in January for the first time this season I feel there may be a chance of survival. Survival in itself isn't great, but the owners continue to position the club at Division 2 /Conference level. Until there is a sale to investors that can run with a competitive budget we are doomed to the same situation year after year. At some point we will run out of luck (or completely out of money) and move down to our correct level.
  5. Just good to see them playing like a proper football team. Banks played the best I have seen from him and got the ball out to Mclaughlin whose crosses were superb. Simple game, get the ball wide then good crosses into the box, things start to happen then.
  6. Possibly the referees, linesmen and the fourth officials should be trained to have better collective vision of what is going on off the ball, that would be a start. Our refs are obviously working full time in jobs and most of the effort between games appears to focus on keeping themselves fit rather than on technical refereeing.
  7. Simon Corney won't pay the wages for a Manager with a tried and tested formula. The root of the problem isn't the players on the pitch or the manager, they are all out of their depth. The problem is the rudderless poorly financed way the club is run.
  8. Didn't see that performance coming, every player grew into the game until Scunthorpe couldn't cope with us. Roll on Saturday, it's a long time since I looked forward to the next match as much.
  9. It is just all very debillitating, not just today the last x number of years, I am losing count.
  10. Today represents the legacy of the awful Summer that the club had. Can't afford to pay decent wages, left it too late to recruit a manager and were left with everyone's cast offs. With the exception of Clarke and Ripley that is how over the last 2 months we have played. Most have shown flashes of being good, but generally they are a team of everyone else's cast offs. It is a remote possibility that we can unearth a striker, midfield player or whoever in January to save our season. We are lightweight and I can't think of how we can avoid the drop.
  11. I don't think that Pep Guardiola would flourish within the constraints that our Managers have to work within. They either can't work within the constraints to produce acceptable perfoprmances or if they have a bit of relative success other clubs realise the extent of their achievement and poach them
  12. Todays result is only a product of the chaos that surrounds the club and the problems over the summer. Our league position is only where you would expect to be with a hastily put together squad and yet another management team.Things continue to be seriously mismanaged. In the last 2 weeks chief scout leaves after a couple of months and our chief executive leaves for a club 3 rungs below us to further his career. Presumably Simon Corney is back next week for the Chief Executive interviews, it's usually Manager interviews. Hopefully we don't sack Steve Robinson the problem lies in the way that the club is run.
  13. Has had a serious ankle injury since early in the season. He had a better record than this seasons crop of prolific strikers
  14. Yes seems as though we may have signed more talented players with the attitude of CB. Time will tell how far they can take us, but from what I have seen so far cautiously optimistic.
  15. Lets get the cheque book out then. Which of us are going to do that? Over to you SC again, please spend your money on better players.
  16. Doesn't matter, would rather have a team that was committed.
  17. If every player that signed for Latics whatever their abilty had the same commitment and smile on their face as CB then we wouldn't be in the situation we are now. Would rather watch 10 CBs than 10 sulky prima donas.
  18. I think that you will find that Steve Robinson wants a winger in his amoury in case he wants to change the shape of the team, for or in a particular match.
  19. Games are so tight in professional football that in many cases referees are at the fulcrum. Their decisions increasingly influence the stalemate. In those circumstances they need to get it right. I was away today so didn't get to the match, but I get the situation. Last week at Bradford the ref was a homer and has proved himself to be such in previous games. If the game is getting too fast for these part-timers then we need to start using technology more. I would rather wait for a correct decision than put up with the inconsistent incompetence that we are witnessing. The remedy isn't just to suspend refs, the replacements aren't an improvement. Corner infringements, penalty decisions, sending offs etc. all need to be countersigned by a video ref, the delay is a price worth paying.
  20. I've been going on about this for years, but they don't get it. 18-23 Year olds can't afford to go and we lose a good percentage of our young support during that changing period of their lives, when they need every incentive to keep going to matches
  21. I don't like calling players individually and have given Cassidy the benefit of the doubt based on his injury last season, but that performance last night was a shocker particularly considering he must have known it was his last chance. It made it worse for him with Erwin buzzing around him.
  22. We can't deny there have been/possibly still are big problems in the background. However, all we want is team that wins regularly, brings some success and plays with style and commitment. We appear to have a very committed team of players many of whom know their way round a football pitch. If they continue to gel we may have a team that gives us more good days than we have become accustomed to. The opening post from a bystander this season has to be a wind up.
  23. Unique system, first manned automatic entry system, surely every club will want one of these when they find out.
  24. Doubt it from what I saw today, looks more like the 30 club to me and they have to be fed and watered
