  1. I see most Latics games each season live and pay for ifollow. You can imagine the lack of empathy I had with the system yesterday when "unfortunately" I was in Spain and the system was crap. It has got worse with I player and they need to start giving some refunds.
  2. +1 football is a different game than that which we as supporters would idealistically want. John Sheridan has been good for Latics on balance, but is by no means a manager with impeccable credentials. Last year he dug us out of the mess that he left us with. He is a professional like the rest and will go for the money as we all would. All the hype around him is misguided and he to be fair doesn't promote it. lets just face it he is another on the merrygoround of Latics managers,we are bottom of the Division and he theoretically is at the helm of the football matters. I for one am sick of the merrygoround and really don't know where we go from here manager wise.
  3. Bizarre as it may appear,on occasion Banks can appear classy and composed when he has the ball, that isn't a lie.He can also lose his man more often than most.
  4. The part that I heard was when he said that he hadn't seen enough of Banks to comment on him either way,but nevertheless Banks should analyse his performance to understand why he was taken off. Tactically we could have taken any of our midfield off for Fane when we did the substitution.Although there seems to be an assumption after 1 minute of each game that Banks is crap that isn't always the case. Last week at Blackpool he was one of the better players and he didn't even get criticised on here for his performance last week.
  5. I thought Shez got his team selection wrong. Fane should have been in from the start. I know he is not the most naturally gifted footballer but he can do a job breaking up play. He went for the best footballers today to the detriment of a cohesive team that could compete with Charlton in midfield. At least in the end we scored some goals got off our seats and there was a bit of passion for the first time at home this season. As far as the ref is concerned there should be sanctions stopping him referring at this level again.
  6. I thought his analysis was pretty fair to be honest
  7. No cutting edge, frightened to shoot, cross early and get numbers in the box
  8. Support wasn't altogether "great" I recall idiot on the pitch being applauded,"your not fit to wear the shirt", people running to the front to abuse players after the goals, several smoke bombs on the pitch (disrupting our good patch). All not great for confidence which is obviously fragile for whatever reasons. On the other hand second half singing was good and seemed to drive the team on.
  9. Good blog. The ground hog day realisation that this season is already descending into a repeat of the last 10 drains away at hope and expectation. The promises of new additions to the team that have evaporated over the last 3 weeks makes the management of the club look fools. To go into the season with one cast off goalkeeper beggars belief. We try to keep positive and believe that there is a better season ahead,a goal chance to get us off our seats,a goal to cheer, but it doesn't look good.
  10. +1 the atmosphere was toxic from the kick off. We are recruiting from the bargain basement these guys aren't premiership players and don't go out deliberately to play crap. They also have a uncertain existence ,no matter how much we may think they have the best job in the world.Abuse is not the answer, some of our fellow "supporters" need to show more respect.
  11. Shez has built a good part of his tactics on getting the ball up to Davies and Holloway quickly and it is failing miserably. They don't win headers, hold the ball up or have any connectivity between themselves. To make matters worse they are isolated, the midfield never get close to them or give them any runners to flick on to. At the other end Clarke and Gerrard are increasingly immobile. Seen 4 games so far and can count on the fingers of 1 hand the number of real saves that opposition goalkeepers have had to make. Although we played OK in the first half today, lets face it we nicked a goal, but still weren't creating enough clear cut chances. To give ourselves some daylight. I know it's early days, but feels like a groundhog season already.
  12. We are starting to look like a proper football club again.
  13. A real heartbeat of our club, people like him are the glue that help keep the club together and make it what it is. Never heard a bad word about him. RIP Gordon and condolences to all of your family, friends and colleagues.
  14. I think it was mentioned that we were owed £11k. This suggests that this is the net amount of ticket money and loan fee.
  15. Good summary of the season and where we are as a club. Let's hope we can move forward positively.
  16. Another "hi jack" "high jack" "hijack" of a perfectly innocent post by chief nit picker.
  17. Excuse me I am a fan making a personal observation,no other connection with the club other than supporting the team.
  18. 32 pages in, its getting out of hand, why can't we just get on with looking forward to beating Rochdale and safety. The scoreboard fund was a botch up from the start, no proper costings done or any sense of how much could be raised The communication from the club has been poor all along and we are left with another serious rift between club and fans. The Trust have eventually woken up and ceased to be puppets of the club. Lets get behind the Trust and help them become the "Critical Friend" of the club that they should be. More critical if I was a potential buyer of the club as part of my Due Diligence I would read OWTB and run a mile,we are scuppering any chance of new investment that we all want.
  19. +1 Underdog lets get rid of the key board warriors who never turn up,always an excuse.
  20. Just to get back to the facts,I drafted the notes from the meeting they were agreed by all present (pro Corney/anti Corney/pro anti Corney).Nnn had no more influence over the meeting than anyone else who decided to attend the meeting. In the unlikely event today's theory is correct it is sad that someone has to post under another name on here to get their views across.
  21. Does seem strange,Shez was praising him a few weeks ago, perhaps an alternative theory is that he has reached a certain number of appearances triggering either a contract payment or an offer of a contract for next season.
  22. Project "Stay clear of the petty claptrap peddled on OWTB " and enjoy beating Bolton with 10 men. Who can blame him,he only wanted to help us fans understand what was going on better.
