Hes not the sort of player "to put a shift in". When he plays number 10, he doesnt move massively, hes clever with his touch and the ball. He is way too lightweight to run around like a headless chicken just so it looks like he has tried. If you asked Fane to play up front you would be exactly the opposite. He would run around "putting a shift in" but wouldnt score a goal cos he cant kick it straight, so everyone would slag him off. Byrne did contribute still, but if youre going to play a shape which doesn't play to the best of his ability, then he shouldnt play. Wellens biggest fault was not keeping Byrne central and changing a system that had started so well. Same as this year, Byrne is an excellent player to have on the books, but hes challenging Baxter to play behind a number 9, then I don't see where Byrne fits. If Baxter is the number 9 and Byrne behind, thats the only place I see him.

Our 2 better players towards the end of the year came from our youth team. They don't have to be stand out after we have sold them, but Philiskirk does a good job of making players who end up at Hyde worth £200k plus to the club when theyre 16. If we had cashed in on Taylor and Eardley earlier, then we would have made a fortune on our youth in the last ten years.

Knowledge of how to badly manage the club, and become a media travesty. Hopefully he is there as a "dont do anything we did" reminder.

IMO Suarez/Gerrard would be up there. However they werent amazing against us. And I am going none OAFC related, as I saw the magical midfield of Alonso/Busquets/Xavi/Iniesta/Silva for Spain against England which was excellent to watch. In the lower divisions however Peterboroughs David Farrell stands out as a twat who used to be excellent frequently against us.

I think Baxter is our marquee signing, and I now expect 6 lower league has beens/kids on loan from Prem.

Since 2013 he went on to play fuck loads of games for a far better Sheff Utd team than us, and spent a season in Evertons reserves. He was out of football for how long, 8 months which I am sure he would have been training in?

He hasnt played since about January and he is technically out of contract, so why wouldnt he put himself in the shop window representing at international level? I cant for one second why anyone would turn down the opportunity to play international football incase it risks an injury when youve 3 months until the new season starts and youre fully fit!

I agree with this, although it would have been nicer to see the likes of Cahill and Ashley Young left out for the likes of Tarkowski and Sessegnon/Bertrand and just made sure we got the young lads some tournament experience who will be in and around the squad in 2/4 years. No way are we expected to win this, and then the pressure would have been massively off, and they could have surprised us. Overall though, its not that ridiculous a squad with the crap that we do have.
