  1. We all agree Burnley have got a future star here? Looked class when I've seen him.
  2. Alright everyone. Apart from (Simon Brooke's?) Halloween/young fan takeover/Christmas fun day initiatives, everything around OAFC is pretty sad and depressing right now. It has made me think of an idea that owtb user Latics and England had in 2009. Check out THIS THREAD before reading on. Anyone else remember that? Nothing particularly good to feel happy about around that time, and the Oldham performance was godawful (albeit with the first glimpse of Dale Stephens' talent), but the atmosphere in the away section was bloody amazing!! Tongue-in-cheek chants, balloons, just a bunch of fans having a right good time. My family happened to choose that game to organise a little weekend break around, and it was utterly superb! We got dicked 2-0, but I left sporting a beaming smile, the odd Norwich fan came to shake our hands, and the local paper dedicated a column to how good our fans' were. I reckon it's about time we felt proud of being Latics fans again. I admit I'm picking the Bradford game because I'm planning on bringing neutral mates for my birthday, but I do think it would be top if we organised our support to bring balloons, a fun attitude plus maybe plenty of th'Athleticos flags. Maybe it could inspire the players to turn things round, but at the very least we'll have a laugh right? Thoughts, criticisms, leadership welcomed. =)
  3. Real chance to turn our home form, and therefore our whole season, right round with these 3 home games. Recent history says we will not take it, but the chance is there.
  4. Terrific! No matter what happens the week before or the week after, it's a great feeling when Latics win innit? Well done to the lads for getting a vital 3 points.
  5. FA Cup rules state away fans must be given at least 15% of capacity if requested, which for them would equate to 660.
  6. Yeah, the date-of-birth limit jumps forward every 2 years following the U21 Euros, allows some continuity in the squads. So anyone 21 or under at the start of this season is eligible until summer 2017.
  7. I'd like to see two or three of the bigger games played at Boundary Park next season, then see how it goes from there.
  8. Without a reserve league entry, this and the Lancashire counterpart are just what the fringe players need. Something like Cornell B.WIlson O'Connell Edmundson Truelove Winchester Tuohy Poleon Green Byrnes Murphy
  9. Maybe I listened to too many Lee Johnson interviews, but the zone stuff makes sense to me. A lot of it harks back to bits and pieces he mentioned, especially early in his tenure. A lot of the language used may be cringeworthy, but it lets players know what they should be doing at any time. Not having that it's too complicated, all it takes is a one-to-one chat for any issues to be explained.
  10. This goes back to the last 5 games of 2010/11 season Won 33 Drawn 29 Lost 38 Scored 111 Conceded 121 Goal difference -10 Not making any particular point about the current regime. We've just had it really bad at home for too long now.
  11. North Stand 2,640 Main Stand 2,455 Chaddy End 3,754 Rochdale Road end 4,600
  12. Quite a lot of bluster in this thread. My view is that we're still some steps away from the polished article, but that there are positive signs. The way we have set ourselves up away from home in the league has been positive. I didn't go to Colchester, but at Walsall and Bury I was very entertained, and felt the lads really wanted to win and weren't happy with settling for a point. If we can carry that on all season we'll get more points than most League One teams. At home has been the problem. As fans have said, we need to be more positive, and clever, to break teams down, rather than counter attack, which is effective at other teams' grounds. But that is based on only two home league games. I trust in the staff and players to improve on what we've seen so far, and adapt. If it's the same old story in the coming weeks, it will be right to have a bit of a go, but to be as critical as some have been in here is jumping the gun.
  13. The Guardian had him at 6 foot 2, in that interview from March
  14. Hmm. Talented yes, but known to have a terrible attitude, bit of a waster, could be more trouble than he's worth.
  15. Stephens has been at Charlton between us and Brighton.
  16. They have quite a drastic ban on betting in football now. Nobody involved with football in the top 8 (I think top 8) tiers of English football can do ANY football betting. So Gordon Lawton isn't allowed to bet on Liverpool finishing in the Top 4. Wayne Rooney isn't allowed to put a quid on Stockport winning on Saturday.
  17. Darren Kelly has said DIeng is being preferred on the bench as a defender, as he can play right back if needed.
  18. Reckon there's a case to boycott the Blackpool game, with regards to the damage Blackpool fans reckon the Oystons are doing to the club at the moment? Or not bothered.
  19. Even if it's not true, I reckon that should be what we should adopt as the fans' unofficial history. ;)
  20. Got to give the devil his due! It has been a good investment.
  21. All correct, we have not had a game called off for a waterlogged pitch since Chris Moore put expensive drainage in along with the new pitch. And the slope helps as well.
