  1. Apparently they've swapped the decision to sell the top tier first, but £28 is still rubbish. Hopefully they'll see sense and make most games category C. Probably still be £26 for us. It's a fifteen minute walk from my house so I'll go whatever, but I was hoping for a big following. Sort it out Bolton.
  2. Out of contract next summer. If he looks good I reckon Wigan will accept any bid in January rather than lose him for free.
  3. That's quite a stretch Magister! Chill out a bit, lets judge the lads on how they play in blue and white.
  4. Yep, that's a football manager. Makes loads of sense for him to bring in people he knows and trusts (and know each other) as his first signings. Now we have the scaffolding of a squad up, we are a much better prospect for free agents to join us. Structured, direct, fast attacking football is what got us out of the mess in the past 6 months, so I'm game for that. Got some good experienced heads round him. I believe in Steve!
  5. From a Bristol City fan on another forum: "If you've got Pembo coming in, you've got a good one. I can understand him leaving but, as JJH said, I'm gutted. He's a fine coach, a genuinely nice fella and plays good football. He also knows how to keep the fans 'onside' and speaks his mind. Many City fans put alot of our recovery last season down to JP (and Wade Elliott) after they took over, temporarily, from Cotterill and changed our formation. Suddenly, we started winning. My lasting memory of Pembo at our place will be him striding across the pitch at Craven Cottage thumping his chest to 5,000 celebrating Cidereds after our late win there. He is very popular among our support. He deserves a chance as a no 1 and I would like to think he came close to getting our job before LJ got it. Good luck to Pembo, he will always get a great ovation at the Gate. I can't speak highly enough of the bloke." 6. Really smart kits we've had this season, Eden did indeed design them, based on the 90/91 kits. A real shame that they only last one season nowadays, none of them stick around long enough to become iconic. By the by, the tacky gold-trimmed numbers and letters on the back of shirts have finally bitten the dust. Plainer, late 80s-style design from next season.
  7. I think Darren Kelly's major failing was his personality. He reportedly couldn't impose himself on the training ground, and just about every single player wasn't motivated on matchday to play at their maximum level. The few games when we seemed really up for it that I saw, were the first day at Walsall, the charged atmosphere at Bury, and first game in ages against Wigan. And in those the motivation came from the atmosphere. There were other noticeable things lacking or missing from his stewardship, but that's the main one for me. Nice guy by all accounts like. Some day a song will be written called The Ballad Of Darren Kelly...
  8. This guy is called Festus Arthur and has signed for the youth team. I don't think I've ever wanted someone to turn out to be a superstar as much as this guy. Festus for England!
  9. Tell you what, the entire youth setup should be extremely proud, 3 trophies in 3 years. If anyone ever sees Philly, tell him what a good job he continues to do! If he isn't busy, he's usually very happy to spend a few minutes chatting about the youth team. Brendy Glackin seems a good 'un. Lots of goals in a squad blighted by injury all year, scores 2 in both the semi and the final, and he's still got another year in the U18s before a decision is made on his pro deal!
  10. He's there according to the official twitter account, along with Shirtliff and several members of the first team squad. The official site has an interview with Philliskirk, who says all of the second year apprentices were rested on Saturday, as Shez and Shirtliff want a say in who gets pro deals and tonight could be a strong influencing factor. 0-0 at the break, Oldham with the best chances.
  11. Yep. Also their "very good squad" is gonna get around the same points total Blackpool did last year, 20+ from safety. They're pretty wank.
  12. "We do actually, can we please go up?"
  13. No mammoth debts, but silly £15,000-18,000 a week contracts still knocking about. Decent crowds for L1. But I was also surprised about compo being an issue. Maybe they think it isn't worth it rather than not affording it. Agree 51 is probably enough, but the job's not done til it's done, and it'll be good to make it official!
  14. I live very close to their stadium, word is they'll end up with Chris Wilder from Northampton because Southend want too much compensation. Can't wait to walk to an away game.
  15. League table at it's most doomed-looking state, after defeats in Sheridan's first two games in charge: Same points as Crewe there, currently 20 points ahead of them. 15 points behind top-half (!) Doncaster, now 8 ahead. A 23 point swing. 8 points off safety, now 6 points clear. A win on Saturday guarantees safety due to Blackpool and Fleetwood playing each other. If we win, at least one of those two teams cannot catch us. A draw is also enough if Blackpool lose.
  16. Glackin is a first year as well. Enjoyed the way our front four played against Bolton today, Hargreaves, Murray, Glackin, Knight. Worked for each other, often threatening. Ridiculously cold, and hailstoning too, didn't stop George taking his top off and singing!
  17. It works quite well as a singalong. Turn the sound off for the big bit like the video, job's a good 'un
  18. As long as recent form continues, rare away days at Stanley and Bolton would be very interesting!
  19. Maybe he just had somewhere to go! Tweeted this just after full time: "Get in boyss!!! 3pts" Today was brilliant, exciting second half. Great feeling. Love Shez me. His legend grows!
  20. New entry. Talks about missing out on Old Trafford, late wages, interaction with fans, and managers on the move.
  21. Looks like their youth setup hasn't advanced quite as quickly as their first team. Category 3 status academy, like us. Currently 3rd in the Youth Alliance South West, sat behind Plymouth and Cheltenham, Full table at the bottom of this page. Winnable then, but the young Latics' form has been poor in the league of late with a rash of injuries. Still conceded only 12 in the league, lowest in the division.
  22. Along with just wanting to take in a good game and see our youths, this could be a good chance for a positive form of protest. With (probably) members of the first team and the coaching staff in attendance, lets give the U18s a bumper crowd and loud support to show how much we are willing to get behind an Oldham side who are worthy of it. If this seems like a good idea to anyone, lets get the word out that we want to fill that main stand next Tuesday.
  23. Away. So Saturday cost us at least half a million quid, probably a lot more.
  24. Heard an interview with him before the game, says he's become disillusioned with football at the professional level.
  25. Plus the rare honour of the official programme misspelling. Well spelling players' names wrong is rare anyway.
